  3. Absolutely out of topic, but I known some or most of us are long time interested in Theoretical Physics, Science Fiction and Cosmology. A friend of mine (incidentally, PsyOps Officer in the Spanish Army, a woman with a spiced madness touch, and I'm almost sure she ignores my interests in these matters) had sent me casually this link This documentary has remembered me the classical Powers of Ten (from the far 1968, from a world without Internet, GoogleEarth and almost without computers, but with hand-drawn animation and Cold War and Vietnam War in full activity), I don't remember very well when I saw it the first time, perhaps watching TV near 1970, and I think it wa…

A provocative commentary on Greek economic woes ... From National Post Greece is one giant Ponzi scheme Posted: April 28, 2010, 8:59 PM by NP Editor By Steven R. Earle The problem with much of the opinion surrounding the Greek financial crisis is that few writers actually have any experience in Greece, in dealing with its politicians, its bankers, its systems, its cultural proclivities and its people. I personally have such experience, as between 2003 and 2008 as chief executive of a startup airline we invested €20-million ($26.7-million) in the country to develop seaplane operations between isolated islands. This was an essential service that was import…

It it's inexhaustive march toward the ultimate big brother state, work has cought up and finally blocked harpgamer at the office. I do not feel that those those in power would find the humor in me submitting a form for excepting harpgamer from the internet acceptable usage "policy". So be that I will now be accessing from home alone.

Is anyone familar with this series of games from Avalanche Press? While not at a point in my life to order directly from themm I was scoping a copy of (War) Plan Orange at my local shop. This title has always drawn me in. I wanted to see if any of you have an opinion on it and its series-mates. Thanks, Pete

http://runway.cz/img/zbr/aim120_2.jpg 10 Amraams and 2 AIM-9's - is it only a show of maximal carrying capacity or has it any operational use? Maybe it's something like 6 Phoenix'es on Tomcat, making it unable to land with unspent missiles?

So we have a thread about submarine films. How about films depicting aircraft carrier operations? Some of my favorites are: Wing and a Prayer (1944) Tora Tora Tora (1970) Midway (1976) The Final Countdown (1980)

For the hordes of people trying to get on IRC to chat (I wish!)... The server will be down for a period of time hopefully less than 4 hours today starting sometime between 11am and 2pm Central time. The server is making a physical move along with the Internet connection.

Just a reminder that if you come to chat on IRC (please do), make sure you say something. Someone with the nickname Wolff just came through and didn't say anything and wasn't noticed a result. Plus it is isn't the best chat etiquette to come and be silent so speak up. So, who watched the 2010 Winter Olympics? I am of course happy with how it turned out for Canada, especially the men's hockey win. Great game! (Very glad it did not end in a shootout ... Miller would probably have been the death of us). Now, just a matter of paying the huge bill that goes along with these events.

The Simulation-Reality Mismatch By John Michael Loh Manned aircraft will be able to penetrate future advanced defenses. Now somebody tell the simulation gang. Historically, there has been a mismatch between the air combat attrition predictions of analysts’ computer models and the actual attrition experienced in major air campaigns. Simply put, the models have always erred on the pessimistic side. Understanding the sources of this mismatch is important today because many Air Force and Pentagon experts are at it again. This time, they are claiming that even stealthy fifth generation fighters and B-2 bombers cannot penetrate future threat arrays without unaccep…

I'm doing some cleaning and space consolidation and have some Harpoon items that are on their way out. All items are computer harpoon from the 'classic' series. All are PC compatible. Harpoon Designer's series 3.5" disks and box (no idea if disks are good) Harpoon Designer's series II disks, box, and printed manual (no idea if disks are good) Harpoon Scenario Editor disks, box (no idea if disks are good, no printed manual) Harpoon GE on 3.5" disks and IOPG battleset on 5.25" disks, box, and some inserts (no idea if disks are good, no printed manual) If you hadn't guessed, I acquired these to have the boxes. Holler if you'd like some or all of them. …

  18. 50 years ago the first Mach 2 fighters ... I was a very little boy, and the Tanguy and Laverdure comic strips configure in great part my future life ... I see now the things I was thinking were great, now also are great and remembered. I'm happy now. The Mirage IIIE is property of Albert Uderzo (first drawer of Tanguy&Laverdure and Asterix comic strips), purchased 2006, it's in an "hangarette" in his backyard, in Les Yvelines (I've read this in this month Air Fan magazine). I also remember now Albert Uderzo, 82 years old, likes also the Ferrari cars Another nostalgia made real, me and a bit battered preseries Mirage IIIA and Super Mystere B2 http:/…
