March 22, 201016 yr Its just for show. I have never seen an operational loadout anywhere like it, and I am doubtful you would see it except under some very unusual circumstances. Those missiles are expensive, and they take abuse every time they are launched from the deck and then recovered again. I am sure no one in the accounting office would like to see 12x missiles subjected to it on a regular basis.
March 22, 201016 yr Author Imagine, if Hornet with such a loadout would even be able to take off, maybe with a very small amount of fuel. But you know, today (or yesterday?) India conducted a succesful test launch of ship-launched Brahmos, I don't know what accounting office say would say when CVGB commander ask about repelling of hail of air-, sea- and sub-launched Brahmos'es.
