The first one is a stealth fighter, the other is a CVG, Sukhoi Su-50 "Fantasy" The Su-50 is a Russian stealth fighter, developed in secret with the help of information acquired from the F-117 that was downed in Kosovo and first encountered by NATO in 2014. It is only detectable on radar within IR missile ranges and IR missiles are only really effective when fired at its tail. Any opinions on the PBS Carrier series airing in the US at present? http://www.pbs.org/weta/carrier/ I watched the first 2 hours and found it mostly boring but worth the time anyway for some nice shots. Tonight was hours 6 and 7 here, of which I watched about 20 minutes of hour 6 and found it much more engaging than the first two hours (Nimitz made it to the Iraqi area of operations). While I don't think the series is a treasure trove of hard platform data, I think it sheds a lot of light on the people factor. Currently, I'm working on a wargaming project with some from friends of mine. It involves a fictional navy using mostly imported weapon systems. In this case, marrying the Rheinmetall MLG 27 to the multifunction Rafael Typhoon. I figure that the Typhoon is the dominant system while the MLG 27 is the weapon subordinant to the system. Do I have this right? Thanks.

A little off the wall I admit, but this is the best place I can think of to pose the question since this group has members from all over the world. A retired SMCM buddy of mine asked me about the "Rum Ration" practice in the British Navy as opposed to the strict dry policy in the USN and also the Navy's of the rest of the world. So I DL'ed a little 3d program a while back, been playing with it some. While its a very easy to use program, you can still do some pretty amazing stuff with it. Like this.

What I did over the weekend was attend the Woodbury Snowmobile Club (http://www.snowraces.com) annual Radar Run. I designed and built the electronics for the 4' x 8' sign in the pictures. It uses a standard 802.11g wireless network to receive the information from a computer program I wrote. The sign itself uses a Rabbit microprocessor module as its brains. Their timing system was broken so most of my time was spent kludging that to work, instead of watching the action and plugging speeds into my sign. Anyway, just a little proof that I love electronics and dislike computers!

Does anyone here have any experience with Bulldogs Away rules, by David Manley? I purchased, downloaded, and printed them last night. The rules depict Modern Fast Attack Craft actions from 1950-2010, and look very interesting. The author states that the rules "are intended for very quick deadly battles fought between post war Fast Attack Craft and patrol boats". In addition to the small combattants, the rules contain data for the integration of larger ships (FFG-7 for example) helicopters, aircraft, shore targets, and mine warfare. It is designed to play as miniatures on a 8x6 or 6x4 foot table. Thanks
