Hi, I installed HCCE some time ago on a laptop, but didn't use it. I recently tried and it works OK except for sizing on some of the windows which I have no control over the sizing. For example pressing the F6 key (launch AC) and choose "attack" or "ferry" a window opens giving a list of target bases/groups. The left half of the window giving the list is OK but the right half of the window is cut off. Also the staff asst. window is truncated on the right. The build is 2009.036. It is running on Windows XP with all the latest updates at 1680x1050. I have tried it with several battlesets and at different screen resolutions. I must be missing something... any suggest…

Hi Folks, I have recently installed version 2009.042 on a new Gateway netbook running XP. The game seems to work ok but when I issue a patrol order for a base I can not see the box to click OK and I can not go any further in the game. If any one knows a solution to this issue I would appreciate the help.

...Hello - I've looked through the site for an answer to this one, but to no avail. I'm running HCE with the new battlesets (America, South Africa, etc) on my new Win7 laptop - the game runs like a champ, but SE refuses to run. I get an error message that says "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see if you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64 bit) version of the program, then contact the software publisher." Has anyone else run across this yet and if so, how did you sort it out? Thanks in advance.

I thought I saw somewhere that you could convert the EC2000 battle sets to EC2003. Is there such a thing or did I just imagine it?

I just updated my HCE with HC2009.042inc.zip and HC2010.006GE.zip from HarpGamer and did a short run test. I have some serious concerns about one of the changes made since the last Matrix patch, v2008.044. Reports I have read are completely correct, the AI Bear D recon aircraft now do not turn on their surface search radar and are now completely useless, as well as are several billion rubles of ASM carrying bombers up around Murmansk. This castration now makes it impossible to model a key Soviet strategy. With this change several regiments of very expensive Soviet bombers will spend the war waiting for a recon report that will never ever come. Yes, I am NOT amuse…

Hi all, I'm a long-time player of Harpoon Classic but by no means a seasoned one. I think I picked up the CD when I was 11 (now 25), every year or two it goes back into the CD drive for another play. Definitely aptly-named Since sending Nimrods forth to blow submarines out of the water in the GIUK gap has made up the majority of my Harpoon experience, the lack of a method of precisely ordering a sonobouy search has been a long term irritation. I decided to have a quick go at implementing this using the automation scripting utility 'AutoHotKey' (incredibly useful tool that I've dabbled with in the past) VERY IMPORTANT Put simply, AutoHotKey - the program used …

This may or may not be obvious (or useful) to you, I often use the scenario editor and am frequently using it with non standard databases or going back over the previous scenario. You can open the scenario editor from Tony's "launcher" (in the downloads section if you haven't seen it) by overwriting "winharp32.exe" with "wscenedt.exe". You can make some of the selections such as battleset, scenario file and database. When you launch it (since the last update) you have saved all the settings from the last launch. To make it work well, copy the 'launcher.ini' file to another (any) folder, make a desktop (or other place) shortcut to the launcher.exe and call it scenario ed…

If I put up an E-3 Sentry in the Formation Editor, does it automatically turn on its sensors and fly at the right height? Or, should it be positioned manually? What about the Prowler and the Raven? What about if I put any of them in groups with other planes? The ingame db for the EF-111A Raven says that it can collect intelligence. Does this mean it can used as an E-3 Sentry? If so, do I just turn on the sensors? I've never used a Prowler or a Raven, how should they be used? I think they're primarily radar jammers, but I'm not sure how to use them. Thanks for the help!

TACTICS 101: NAVAL FORMATIONS - PART 2: ASSEMBLING A FORMATION IN HCE Part 2 of this discussion on Naval Formations will focus on building or assembling a naval formation in HCE using the game's formation editor. We will use the Scenario Editor (SE) here, but the principles are equally applicable to use of the formation editor within the Game Engine (GE). To illustrate naval formations in general, let's build one of the more popular formations - a US Navy carrier strike group (CSG). As was discussed in Part 1, the components of a naval formation comprise the main body and the screen. Within HCE's formation editor, the screen is further broken down into the …

When playing Harpoon I realize that radars do not always detects the whole number of aircrafts in a group. Is it stealthier a group composed of 2 F16 (or another plane) than a group composed of 4 F16? I suppose that radars have more chances to detect a group if there are more planes in this group.
