AI Maritime Recon Dead - Why Why Why?

BTB, you guys do realize that your demonstrated willingness to listen to player reports might lead to more reports and/or suggestions? :)

Yes. Yes we do. :D

Btw, we've already made some progress with the Bears through chatting on IRC. :)

Yup, back to the Bears. In the next build (in theory 2010.007) Recon subtype AI planes will energize their radars 60 seconds or less from starting down the runway (quicker than real life but still...).

The ability did used to exist but it was limited to AEW aircraft in October of 2004 and later expanded to AEW and EW. What that means is that even your 2007.000 version has the flaw and the Bears only energized due to some other stimulus (as Brad postulated by being painted by Blue radar or some other similar event).

That is really interesting and explains a lot. I'll probably be toasted by the time I get in this evening, but I will try to mess around a bit. The scenario I sent you lacked the two air bases I was using to fly AEW aircraft out of so I could see what was happening before I found out about Show All. I'll bet either the bases or the AEW aircraft were the triggers for the Bears to energize.

when I tried to explain the problem to my adolescent tom cat, his response was to ask when dinner would be served and to then turn his back and resume his grooming.

OMG! ROTFLMAO!!! :lol::lol::lol:
