Defect Name: Patrol zones do not match positions
Axure, please consider how little impact most of these issues have on playing the game. I've played HC since 1992/3 (before it was HC) and never noticed nor had any ships run away during that entire time. Not to mention that we're working on the issues that get reported, would it scare you away that we've fixed more than a handful of crash bugs since HCE was released; I would think that acknowledging them and fixing them is a good thing. I have no trouble saying that HC2002 was the most stable HC release ever (and probably least infuriating), the first patch of HCE will give HC2002 a run for its money in that department, not to mention being so much more capable than HC2002.

HC Launcher Brainstorming
Good ideas guys, keep 'em coming. The showing of victory conditions is something I hadn't considered, it definitely won't make it into the first patch but seems like a handy feature in the future.

HC Launcher Brainstorming
For the first patch I want to have a basic game launcher ready, expanding greatly upon the idea after that. Patch 1 Features: Show scenarios within the HC directory and subdirectories. Show orders of selected scenario. If player chooses to launch the currently selected scenario, check that a valid DB is present somewhere in the HC directory structure and put the DB into place. Alert user if appropriate DB is not on the machine. Allow launching of saved game. Also include the battleset scenarios if possible (this may not be feasible for first patch) Similarly launch the SE (this may have to be basic, i.e. just starts the SE with chosen DB, doesn't load a particular scen) Launch the PE, ideally help manage one pfData file for each DB encountered Launch the Orders Writer for the selected scenario Enable/disable data export DLLs Manage custom battlesets in the same manner as scenarios (matching DB, etc.) may have to be of a very basic nature for first patch. Future Capabilities: Grab xml listing of scenarios, databases, battlesets available on community sites and present it to user for seamless download. Make other content available (custom photos for DB editing, sounds for the game,...) Capture game statistics (platforms destroyed, lost, ...)? Enable deletion of scenarios, databases, saves from local computer. Enable uploading of scenarios, databases, battlesets to community sites?

Is a WWII DB possible?
Hi Terry, you've got it right, make a backup copy of your commondb.res (and commondb.rsr is good practice). Rene/divefreek has a neat system of making a folder for each database and all of the related scenarios so he can more easily switch between them (Rene, feel free to elaborate and correct me).

Defect Name: Suicidal ASW Attacks.
Yes, this is probably a feature request rather than a bug (in case you throw it in Mantis, Akula). A workaround is possible at the database level with the sub vs sea thing as you state Mack. Still, hopefully it can be addressed more properly in the future, thanks for the nicely formatted report.

DID Total Air War
First, a big shout of Thank You to JudgeDredd over on the Matrix Forums. He sent me his copy of TAW at no charge, with all the box and manual and fixins! Next was getting the game to run on Vista, my answer came from SinHQ in rather short order (and yes, it works here on Vista, a notebook even). http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?...575&fpart=1 Time to read the manual and will retrieve the joystick from work tomorrow.

HCE Release Notes
HCE - 2007.032 ============== - Chg:0000 SE If a ship/sub/... has no unit names available, tell the user that instead of throwing an assertion. (thanks Stalintc) - Chg:2367 GE Neutral submarines have no sink image when sunk. - Chg:2000 GE Message Log wasn't clearing when loading a saved game. This was intentional but has now been changed anyway to clear the message log contents when a saved game is loaded. - Chg:0000 GE When launching aircraft to attack, allow attacking unknown groups as well as known enemy groups. (thanks Herman) - Chg:0000 GE When telling aircraft to attack, if the first unit in the group is already sinking/destroyed, it wasn't possible to attack the remaining units in the group. That is now fixed. (thanks Herman) - Chg:2377 GE Splitting all units from a group (to a new group) crashes the game. Fixed. (thanks Mack & Herman) - Chg:2373 GE Game was ignoring user choice to continue contact prosecution if contact was sunk (i.e. submarine) (thanks Herman) - Chg:0000 GE Distances reported in the status line when clicking in the Unit window on high zoom levels were wrong. (thanks MarkShot)

(thanks MarkShot) Okay you guys who aren't database editors, guns need exercise, both HCDB files in the Current Files thread and Euro_DB at HarpGamer Downloads have plenty of entries that are good enough to check that ROF is working pretty well! Plus fixes to check here and in a few previous Release Notes threads

Defect Name: Lost contact
Fixed in 2007.032 I'm not all that happy that the 'continuing prosecution of target' is really loitering where the group is at the time, but that's how it is...
- Crash after splitting.

Paragon's Wishlist
The radar model is quite a bit more capable in HCE than in HC97 (but you'll really only see the effects in the EC2003 & WestPac battlsets since that is where the new database applies). It is much more continuous than the previous model. As for terrain masking in HC, I'd say extremely unlikely but the project was started in earnest a few years ago and has a good base of code...
