2007.024 Release Notes
I found a crash bug in 2007.024 (and every other version since June) dealing with air to air refueling. Make sure you have a group selected when you answer Yes to split the tanker from the refueled group or the game will crash. It is fixed in 2007.025 (not released yet).

BS-Creator
The most recent version of the BS Creator does decent logging about adding scenarios, please post up your log. It should be in he same directory as the BSBuilder.exe and is called BSBuilder.log. Current version of the BSBuilder is 2007.024. As an unrelated request, do you get any error messages when loading saved settings in the BS Builder? Not getting it here, but Rene is and would like more detail on recreating the problem.

Buddha, any progress with the PE on your new setup? If it isn't working can you give some more detail as to what is and isn't happening? Thanks

Harpoon Captain's Edition
Game arrived yesterday after a pleasant e-Bay auction. This game is essentially a lite version of our beloved paper Harpoon game. The rules book is a whole 16 pages. You won't see a distance measurement in any unit other than hexes, no altitude bands, etc, just fighting! The included map covers roughly the GIUK gap. More details to come as I explore more.

Platform Editor under Vista
Well, the files at AGSI combined with the current files thread here pretty much make up the most recent. Any day now we'll be able to use the final installer for the release version of the game to simplify things a little bit. Some day AGSI will let me make installers using the Matrix tools, then we'll really be closer to 7th heaven (except for the annoying prompt for serial number every time you install).

Platform Editor under Vista
Hmm, well, that is an outdated PE. You should have 2005.b19 or 2007.000 for HCE. It also looks like you might not have the db_utils? Anyway, get up to the proper PE and then report back again please. It does work on Vista, that's what I use. Having usage guides for each version of Access wouldn't hurt, it is quite a bit more of a pain to get the PE running in Office 2007 than say Office 2000.

On the upcoming HCE release
Word over at Matrix by Erik Rutkins suggests a HCE release within two weeks. I know it is getting closer but 2 weeks still sounds soon to me.

help with updating database for 2002 gold
First make sure you are in an EC2003 battleset. Then look for the tankers under type Tran (there is a bug in HCE with the Tanker plane type), so KA-6D is... USA Tran KA-6D Intruder If it doesn't show, holler.

Tony's new bookshelf
Troublemaker! In a place of prominence, look at the US flag on the Missouri (2nd photo), what's behind it??? Yah, right there next to the ANW CD case.

How to do birthdays right
I can hear Tony now..."Hey, check this out!...BOOM!" I haven't blown one yet, but the batteries are something to keep away from youngsters who can't wait for their batteries to cool before recharging. You could get away with treating NiCd and NiMH batteries pretty badly but Li-Poly will bite back. Just one idiot's curiosity http://www.rcstuff.us/battery/lipo/lipo_DNA.html That was one cell, for reference, the King Bee 2 helo from one of my other threads uses a 3 cell battery...

Tony's new bookshelf
First off, I'm not a detail person when it comes to models, in fact I tend to buy them to convert to RC operational toys, this one had a strange below waterline but not full hull so I didn't convert it. Anyway, thought there might be minor interest in the bookshelf contents, it kind of scared me the limited subjects it covers (war/war/war sci-fi/electronics, textbooks/big books again mainly war Forgot my rocket, Sizzler! (flown once so far with a big engine, flew just high enough to lose sight of it) In case any of you are nuts and note the absence of Harpoon paper rules, you'll be happen to know they are at the office, not on my bookshelf at home.

Latest toy (aka money sink)
Seeing as I am great at crashing RC airplanes I thought I'd see how much quicker one can crash a helicopter. So far, with simulator time, and two runs thru the battery I've flown and not had any parts break, that will surely change but for now the helo is in tact. E Sky Honey Bee King 2 3D Copter (though I never plan to be a 3D flyer!) Belt driven tail is supposed to be more consistent than a separate tail motor, I should have spent less than half as much money and gone for a fixed pitch/dual motor copter. This one will be good IF I become a capable pilot before I ruin the thing.

How to do birthdays right
What do you get when you combine... two guys who used to play war on the old church grounds and get chased off by the pastor 30th birthdays a present to a 6 year old Answer... Early birthday presents! My friend and I came to these small helicopters thru different means, he saw them on sale while browsing the Internet deals sites, I saw one a week before when my young nephew was given a small RC helo. Well, my friend mentioned the little zingers and I retorted that I saw some where you try to shoot each other down! That bore the idea, his birthday is in November, mine in January, we could get a pair of these fighting copters (otherwise known as Super Battle Planes) for each other for our 30th birthdays. The question quickly arose of it we had to wait until his birthday to open them, the vote was unanimous, we'd rip into them when they arrived (13 day transit from Hong Kong). I can say it was a purchase well worth it, the stupid things are a ball of fun, extremely vulnerable to air currents in the house but if you can play in a large room with furnace off and windows closed things will be a ball. Cats and dogs love them too and so far both copters are still operational (this is a few weeks after we got them). No doubt they are as cheaply built as can be, but irresponsible adults can manage. I had some extra minutes and had been sick so what better way to pass the time than by wrapping each helo. Yep, they are small, about 6" from stem to stern. If you want your own... http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2378 (if you search the site for super battle plane you'll see some prettier but slightly more expensive variants) Beware Li-poly batteries, they like to blow up

Scenario for HCE / Westpac: "Backyard 2"
There are a bunch of them now, one of the earlier ones is at http://www.harpoonpages.com/hcscene.htm A newer representation http://www.harpgamer.com/HARP_hc_scen-extensions.htm And another http://www.advancedgaming.biz/wiki/main/in...=HCCE:Game_Play That ought to get you started, and for now we have .SCr and .HPr for the BS Builder but that will change eventually.

Setting up MP in a LAN environment
There is no requirement to use a particular port with a particular DB. You could run ODB on port 32768 if you wanted to, the key is as you've found, connecting to the correct DB on the correct port. The port by the way is defined at the server machine in the launcher or harpoon3.ini. The restriction is if you run multiple ANW servers on one machine, each ANW server must use a different port. Got word back from AGSI, Matrix doesn't appreciate release patches being made available either so I've removed the 2003.10 to 2003.15 patch .

help with updating database for 2002 gold
Hi Pete, Yep, I seem to have HCDB-070524 working passably with 2003.15. It is available at http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...mp;showfile=226 . Download that file and unzip into your HC Gold directory (with the game closed at the time). Similarly with downloaded scenarios, unzip them to your HC Gold directory. Then when you load the game and choose the correct battleset, you can use the 'User Scenario' button to find that scenario you downloaded and unzipped.

2003.15 update from 2003.10 is posted at http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...mp;showfile=227 I may have to take it down, I forget if we're allowed to post the file but I'll be asking Don Gilman in an e-mail in a few minutes. So install the update, the unzip the HCDB from the prior post over the top of it all.

help with updating database for 2002 gold
Turns out I already had HCDB-070524 on hand but not uploaded to HarpGamer, find it at http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...mp;showfile=226 You download the zip file and unzip it on top of your HC Gold install, ask questions if needed. Now to see about getting you 2003.15. The file will probably work with 2003.10, I'd be interested in hearing how it works for you.

HC Game Structure Redesign Idea Set 1
hehe, lots of critics, Rene didn't see where the greatly improved weapons handling is described either oh, and thanks for the compliment.
