Suddenly, whenever I try to run any scenarios from any of the EC2003 or WestPac BS's, I get the attached error before the game can load. The SE doesn't seem to be effected at all, nor do any of the other BS's.

Any advice anyone?

Thanx:

I'd say your database is messed up, throw in a new copy and see what happens. commondb.res is the key but it won't hurt to have commondb.rsr as well. Tomrorow I'll put up the release HCE installer, finally got permission on that front.

Tony,

Thanx, bro. That seems to have done it, although I hope I have the latest and greatest now. Making Beta reports using outdated files would certainly serve no purpose. There was, BTW, a large difference in file size between what I had and what fixed things, if that tells you anything.

On another note, is anyone else having display problems with Vista? Everything is there OK, but the text boxes look a little "washed out" and difficult to read. I've tried various settings to no effect, and was wondering if anyone had found and made a note of the best ones for use under Vista.

All of my screenshots on the Matrix threads, and most here were made with Vista, can't say I've noticed anything washed out. Any chance of a screenshot showing the troublesome textboxes?

Tony,

Sorry, man, with all that's been going on here, this one slipped my mind. After much flail with my monitor settings, I resolved this mess myself. I don't know about anyone else, but I do not like Vista. Since I got it, I've had video problems, compatibility problems of all kinds, it decided my scanner was a virus, and various other idiotic things. At least I got the help system problem resolved before installing the latest Harpoon download, or I would have had those problems like some of the other users have reported.

I had to deal with that on one computer at work we ordered new. In short order I formatted the HD and put a copy of XP on it and solved ALL my conflict issues. So no, you aren't the only one who hates Vista...I think its more rare to find someone who actually likes it.

I still have the XP Install and SP2 CD's from my old system, and I've been wanting to do the same thing. I understand that this is alot more complicated than doing a simple format/reinstall in the past. Any advice? I don't want to wind up trashing my new system.
