Thanks Brad, fixed in 200.026, crash is caused when firing units of command guided weapons get killed before the weapons impact or miss.

Brad, and anyone else tinkering, please note whether you have a selected group or unit when the crash occurs. I think it may come down to saying, "Group ABA is selected at the time of the crash" or "No group or unit is selected at the time of the crash".

File - HCE Clear Game Options Registry Settings
This file helps when you change screen resolutions and find that your HC dialog boxes pop up off of your screen, then you curse that you can't click the button. You can run this file once you close the game and reset the positions so they'll fit on the screen (pretty much all in a clump...).

HCE released ! the fleet is yours to command
No idea when they will be available, wild guess based on Harpoon ANW, I'd say 2 weeks. As for the cost, I haven't seen any hint that there will be a discount but I really hope Matrix makes what you so obviously plan to do very inexpensive.

You'll want to grab the newer files in the Current Files thread here in the beta forum. The release version of the game is months older than the ones we're playing with here that work with the BS Builder.

There will be registry conflict, but it is something for all beta testers to get used to imho. What it means is that when you start the GE or SE, use the Battleset Path button to make sure you are pointing to the correct directory for the copy of the game you are wanting to use, update as needed by navigating to the correct directory. To be really good you would also do that before using the PE from a different directory. What that is doing is updating the BattlesetPath registry entries. Now why do I think we should be flexible and used to doing this? It'd be great if we beta testers keep an installation of the currently released versions of the game (soon to be 2007.000) as well as the current beta (2007.025). So I for instance will have a C:\Games\HCE2007.000\ installation as well as my current beta copy at C:\Games\HCCE\. That way beta testers can verify troubles that end users are having, help the end users, and make good bug reports so we can fix problems as efficiently as reasonable.

Okay, fixed it, sorry about the mistake. That installer has the GE, SE, PE, db_utils, database. It is what went to Matrix as the installer for the release game, I don't know what, if anything else Matrix has done (hopefully added some nice graphics). For testing you'll naturally download the newer versions from HarpGamer and maybe add the battleset builder as well if you are into that.

Fighters Anthology
Okay, a most important plea for help. I cannot get past mission 36 of the Baltics campaign. The mission is called GUNFIGHT. It can be found on page 42 of the Single Mission listing when doing the following... To see a lot more single missions... at the main FA screen, hold down your [Right Alt], [Right Ctrl], [Right-Shift] keys and click Single Mission with them still held down. Available Aircraft: B-2 F-117 F-35C F-22 F-16C Su-35 EF-2000 Gripen How can I beat this mission? General strategies so far: Rush in fast with F-22 - defeated as I could not take out the ground targets before being overwhelmed by fighters, one of the more successful tactics though. Sit on the ground for game hours with the B-2 hoping for fighter cover to clear - defeated, the defenses were still too thick despite a number of defending aircraft running out of fuel. Turns out the scenario has a time limit too. EF-2000 pound it out - more weapons so this isn't a horrible approach, your escorting fighters have to do a heck of a job though, so far this approach hasn't worked either.

Erik Rutkins on the Matrix forum says they are trying hard for a release by Thanksgiving. Have to clear out the constipation before the big meal

2007.025 Release Notes
The effects will not combine (except as they do where there are two standoff jammers, one protecting the other). It uses the ECM with the largest modifier to reduce missile PH. Now the dreaded question, do you database designers need these things to work in multimounts?

No AAR yet, but I did read all the way thru the rules. Interesting point that Fred actually pointed out in chatting, SAMs are an infinite resource in the game, SSMs are not. That said, SAM equipped units are nowhere near invincible, engagement limitations are harsh (ships can be paired for mutual support, but if only one of those is a LR SAM shooter, the ship has to decide whether to protect itself or protect its buddy, they get another chance with SR SAMs, then point defense).

2007.025 Release Notes
HCE - 2007.025 ============== - Chg:0000 GE Game could crash when splitting tanker from group if there is no group selected. Fixed so that landing for split is based off of tanker group, failing that, base it off group tanker was part of. - Chg:0000 GE Game could crash when using Full button display on report window. Fixed it up to use Unit instead of Group where needed. - Chg:0000 GE Added ECM ability to mounts. Now a ship may carry ALQ-99 for area and point defense jamming. Flares and Chaff will also now work for units other than planes. To Test: I expect the non-plane ECM will not work if placed in a multimount, please test. Suggest a command line of winharp32.exe -l ecm -f c:\ecmtest.txt What you are looking for in that file are entries that start "ECM Point". Testing still needs to be done on 2007.024.

Scenario for HCE / Westpac: "Backyard 2"
Mini AAR: Okay, with 2 days, 12 hours to go, total victory was awarded. Minimum victory at 2 days, 13 hours. My approach was not to run away at first, I proceeded towards the Red base. Despite heavy CAP I could not prevent Red detecting my carrier group though they didn't do it early so the bomber force was already well worn. ASMs were fired and both my Tico and other AAW ship were taken out, no damage to the carriers. I scurried to join the carrier group with the Japanese for some more SAM capability, it worked. Then I departed the plotted course, ran away for a bit, then took a NE approach. Many subs were killed, all Red, none got a shot off. Later Tu-95 picked me up again, missiles were barely stopped by F/A-18 and F-14. Then a third time they found me, after which the Red base succumbed to SLAM attack. I had some stupid losses, I like to fly in A-6 at VLow but a couple of times there were Yak-38 waiting for me, lost some good pilots that way this time around. hole2_5 plays well imho, I don't think it requires any more change. Potential improvements: Only the scenario opening saw a good Tu-95 + Escorts + Bombers approach to my carrier group, if the AI could be convinced to pull that off two or three times, life could be much more intersting. The other big vulnerability for me would have been a smaller attack soon after the first rush when my poor pilots are trying to re-arm and refuel. Great work Ralf!
