War at Sea (second edition)
I had a shelf full of old A-H games, hoping I would find someone to sit across the table. I still have a bunch of them for my Commodore 64 at the old family homestead that I drag out ever now and then. I always wondered about a one player version of War At Sea and Victory In The Pacific and had taken steps to working one up until I lost interest. How does this version you're playing work?

RAF Harriers may face early retirement
What's a billion dollars more or less? I'm picturing the Battlestar Galactica movie where they're pulling old Vipers out of the museum.....

USS Freedom commissioned
While Freedom does not have as ghastly an appearance in her final form as I had first feared, the question remains: can't anyone, anywhere design an elegant-looking modern warship?

Mantis?
Tony: I just got a posting that the Russian Torpedo Damage bug in Mantis had been cleared up. Are we going to be using Mantis again or are you just tidying up loose ends?

Problems with running user scenario. Please help!
I, too, was able to run the sample program in both the GE and SE. If you are still having that issue, perhaps your Harpoon program got corrupted somehow (I put nothing past anything electrical). You might want to adjust the numbers of and distances between the ships in your Task Forces.

Problems with running user scenario. Please help!
Can you be more specific about your problems, like what kinds of error messages are you getting?

Next Beta Tester Review Due 2008/12/01
I had been seduced from Harpoon by a reawakening of my interest in Gettysburg. I have to figure how to balance them.

File - GIUK - You And Me Against The World
I decided that I'd try this one when I had a week or so to spare. If you wish, "Up Goes The Balloon" is similar but less frenetic.

empty folders
Might be some kind of gremlin. If you still can't get a clean download, I'll send you copies from my files.

Bug Reporting
It would be helpful to add the name of the battleset used in the test scenario as part of the general information. I don't have the suffix letters memorized and it would be easier than scrolling through the battlesets to find which it belongs to.

new with another question
Yes, you do have to unzip them before you can use them. If you right click on the zip file, you can use the "Extract all" option, which will let you select a location of your choosing to send the unzipped folder to. You might want to already have a new folder created somewhere (titled, let's say, "User Scenarios") to send them to. Then it's only a matter of using the correct battleset to run the scenario with.

Why was the Regulus Cruise Missile abandoned?
USS GROWLER (SSG-577) is part of the INTREPID museum here in NYC which re-opens on Veterans Day. Hopefully, she will still have a Regulus in firing position. See the attached pix. GROWLER.zip

2008.061 Release Notes
I tried this out with a scenario that had given me problems back in the Mantis days, Original IOPG "Vengeance". At the time I had reported that F-14 would crash OOF on the way back to the carrier after the Bingo fuel warning, and that this didn't happen in any of the other legacy battlesets. With .061, the F-14s do not crash OOF anymore, whether mixed with other aircraft or not.

Time Compression = Not Responding
Buddah: Re your 7/21: I, too, am an unfortunate Vista user and I can second your comments. Not only Harpoon, but other usually dependable programs that ran fine on my XP machine have the same problem with the White Screen of Annoyance.

Weekend fun, hydrogen
Beaver, I'm suprised that you would even think of doing something like that in the living room. Ah, gee, Dad. I promise not to do it again. Well, I'm glad we had this little chat.
