2008.004 Release Notes
It seems to be working fine at this point, though I must confess that another project has kept me from doing a lot of game playing.

2008.004 Release Notes
Harpoon: Commander's Edition Copyright AGSI, EC2000 BattleSet files copyright BI Hutchison ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HCE - 2008.004 ============== - Chg:0000 GE Don't tell planes to drop to Low altitude when returning to base. OK. - Chg:0000 GE If an air group is out of weapons range when their target is destroyed, find them another target in the same group instead of saying their task is finished. (thanks theCase) http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1677672 Doesn't seem to work. Will post to Mantis. http://www.computerharpoon.com/mantis/view.php?id=2465 - Chg:0000 GE Fixed bug in uncertainty zone adjustment that resulted in some contacts not being localized as quickly as they should have been localized. Hadn't known this was a problem. "Quickly" would seem to be subjective, so this would be difficult to OK. - Chg:0000 GE BOL weapons will go active at a reasonable position instead of immediately after launch. The point you click on the map is where the target unit is expected, the GE calculates the activation point to be somewhat short of that. Seems to work, but "resonable" and "somewhat" need to be defined better. - Chg:0000 GE Stopped making ExportDLLs folders all over. Seems to work. - Chg:0000 GE Changes to the project file to allow a release build to work in EC2003. _USE_32bit_time_t. I don't understand this. - Chg:0000 GE Fixed buffer overflow in gun code when reporting type of damage applied, string was too short. Hadn't seen a problem with this before. - Chg:0000 GE Fixed another buffer overflow, prior to throwing up a Staff message box. Hadn't seen a problem with this before, either. - Chg:0000 GE Fixed a number of improper typecasts in Annex loading. They were casted to short and should have been ushort. I don't understand this, either. - Chg:0000 GE Updated Credits screen. True; changes have been made. - Chg:0000 GE Changed the user-made battleset to hdsu.res (.SCz, .hpz) and added code for the intervening BattleSets. Won't be using this feature. - Chg:0000 SE Changed the user-made battleset to hdsu.res (.SCz, .hpz) and added code for the intervening BattleSets. Won't be using this feature. - Chg:0000 BB Changed the user-made battleset to hdsu.res (.SCz, .hpz) and added code for the intervening BattleSets. Won't be using this feature. - Chg:0000 BB Copy the battleset.res file from the BS Builder into the HC dir if possible and rename hdsu.res Won't be using this feature. - Chg:0000 Expanded db_utils to use 4 digits, up from 3, in case people want to add a ton of photos. Won't be using this feature. However, if people need photos, I have lots to share. - Chg:0000 DB HCDB-080117 Yes, but where are all the tankers?. ALSO: EC2000 battlesets added. Great!!! I don't have to convert all those old Harpoon Scenario Warehouse scenarios now!!! Debug tools warning screen absent; I know Showall still works.

F-15s and F-22s on a carrier from the start?!?!
I can't get to my reference books, but I never recall reading about the B-25s returning to HORNET. It certainly wasn't mentioned in the film "Thirty Seconds over Tokyo". The plan, as I remember, was to continue on to landing strips in China to be used in future operations from (there with the CAG or USAAF?). The earlier than planned launch meant they didn't have the fuel to reach those bases anymore, resulting in the aurcraft losses. Check Wikipedia for an overview.

Rum ration?
The USN ended the rum ration in 1862. The RN ended the rum ration on July 31, 1970, known as "Black Tot Day".

Defect Name: Ineligible target type
Amend my previous to "Maybe the question should be "Why are subs a target for fighters?" rather than "Why aren't all three platform types listed?" I think the GE shouldn't allow inappropriate attacks in the first place; all impossible target types should be greyed out. This might also be extended to inappropriate launches, too, like the past problem of launching HARM loadouts against a supposedly radiating target and being told when they're airborne that they are incapable of attacking.

Defect Name: Ineligible target type
Moved to Mantis. http://www.computerharpoon.com/mantis/view...d=2450#bugnotes DOA has 4 F16s with an Intercept loadout. The question should be "Why are subs a target for fighters?" rather than "Why aren't all three platform types listed".

Defect Name: Extraordinary sonar range
There is a definite misunderstanding here. I did attempt to use the "quick-and-dirty-change-the-suffix" method in my first crack at Rorke's Drift. When I found that this was an improper method that would lead to whackiness, like extreme sonar ranges, I scrapped that version and started from scratch with a blank scenario and handcrafted everything. The version posted today to ScenShare and HarpGamer is this Mark II handcrafted scenario. Sorry for the mix-up, but we can drive a stake through this issue and bury it again.

2008.003 Release Notes
I couldn't even get the DB Editor to work, if you remember (shudder!) If I can work up the courage, I might have some time this week.

Defect Name: Convoy will not slow down [2006]
This seems to be related to Mantis #1976 from 5/29/07. At the time it was fixed and closed, and it was rrelated to the helo in the Formation Editor. I added a relationship between these two bugs in Mantis.

KC-135 landed on a carrier
It's Mantis #1906 from 1/17/07. At the time it was put on hold to allow work on major issues and eventually closed. I'm not moving this to Mantis; if necessary, it can be reopened.

KC-135 landed on a carrier
I remember this happening In Beta testing a while ago. I'll see if it is in the closed section of Mantis.
-
Defect Name: Barges in harbour cannot be torpedoed
Moved to Mantis #2448. This test scenario is also written for the EC2000 NAVC battleset, so this, too, is a moot point.
-
Defect Name: Phantom air group attempts landing
Moved to Mantis #2447. The test scenario is actually written for the EC2000 NACV battleset ("j" instead of "e"), so it's a moot point.
-
Defect Name: Specific Class not possible in ViConds
Moved to Mantis #2446. Confirmed in 2008.003. I had no idea you could designate a base as a victory condition until I looked through earlier versions of the SE. If possible, I think it would be a plus to be able to do so again.
-
Defect Name: Damage display corrupted [2006]
Moved to Mantis #2445. Confirmed in 2008.003. I've seen this very rarely in other scenarios. If you click the base in question into the Unit window and click it there, it becomes ungarbled. This is no biggy.

Rorke's Drift test drive
I'm posting a scenario I've been working on called "Rorke's Drift". It was an originally an EC2000 scenario I had downloaded from the defunct Harpoon Scenario Warehouse and I though I could do a quick-and-dirty conversion to the EC2003 battleset by just changing the suffix. Wrong! I went and recreated the whole thing from scratch, but I need help. 1) Play it and see if it works. 2) Suggestions to make it better. 3) Someone who knows the inner workings of the Scenario really well to fill me in on how the AI controls attacks. Thanks, Larry Gertner wombat1417@att.net

GE 2007.032: Clicking into the unit window
Sounds way too esoteric to address.

Airborn ASW Search Plan
Great! Add it to the game!! or at least, add it to the manual or website as an addendum.

AC Loadout Acronyms
I guess "NUKE" is too un-PC. Oh well.
-
Defect Name: Air patrol runs out of gas
Moved to Mantis #2435. Confirmed in 2008.002. I've never seen this happen before within a formation, but I have seen the other manifestations listed, too.
-
Defect Name: Displays incongruent [2006]
Moved to Mantis #2418. Confirmed with .002. It's not a game breaker. Hold off on it.
-
Defect Name: Cruise at full speed [2005]
Moved to Mantis #2433. Confirmed in 2008.002, but it only seems to happen at VLow and Low, not Medium or High Altitudes.
