File - Follow Up 2013
Mark, ok, just rebuild it with the following mods: repositioned the ships which sat on each other edited the group in formation editor, all ships have stations now plotted a course for the group thus the ASW threat axis points into the direction of movement (the ASW threat axis automatically shifst into the direction of a plotted course - not so the ASuW and AAW axis) repositioned the AAW and ASuW threat axis in the formation editor, now pointing in the direction of movement set the sub to shallow depth (periscope by default) and plotted a course (by plotting courses for both the SAG and the sub the AI has a far better chance to detect the US units) Hope this helps understanding the H3 GUI and the details of formation editing. Regards, Ralf usvena3_mod.zip

File - Follow Up 2013
Mark, ok, got some minutes for a first glance. Selecting the Task Force and switching to formation editor I saw that you have not created stations for the different ships. Thus most of them sit on each other. In H3, the typical way to set up a group is to create the units, then group them. After that you select the group, open the formation editor and add stations for the ships. You can add stations for fixed wing aircraft and helos, too. I´ll rebuild the scen this way and post it here. This may help you in understanding how to build up formations in H3. Regards, Ralf

Requests for HUD3 and/or ANW DB
Hi Mark, since I´m not sure if Dale Hillier (editor of ANW DB) and Darren Buckley (editor of HUD 3) regularly visit this forum, I´ve forwarded your requests via mail to them. Regards, Ralf

Mark's H3 Questions
Hi Mark, Standard Database is not longer maintained by AGSI. I use both HUD 3 and ANW DB. The guys already have explained the differences. So if you want your first ANW scen to be tested, just post it here or mail it to rkoelbach@yahoo.com. Regards, Ralf

Mark's H3 Questions
+1 No support for this stuff. The editor has been banned from all major Harpoon websites for good reasons.

Assault v1.0 A scenario for Harpoon ANW 3.10 and the ANW DB written by Ralf Koelbach February, 2011 The control of Iceland is crucial for the dominance in the Atlantic Ocean. Land your troops via helo and take the base! But prepare it well or your troops will never see the island... This scenario uses ANWs brand new feature boarding and takeover. It is by no means a beginner's scenario, you are up against very stiff defense. Have fun, Ralf Alpha ORDERS FOR CMDR ALPHA OPERATIONS Intelligence The war is in a critical phase. Our efforts to control the Atlantic Ocean are hindered by the Bravo base on Iceland. Mission In order to gain access to the Atlantic, we must take the hostile base on Iceland. Execution Move your task force towards the zone marked by the three refpoints. Proceed with care. Your LST must be on station there for at least four hours in order to unload troops and equipment. In order to achieve that, conduct the following steps: 1. Gain air superiority 2. Take out hostile SAM units and ground forces. 3. First take the landing zone in the Southwest. Use it as a beachhead. 4. Then take facility after facility of the base with your helos. 5. Now come close with your carrier group. The LST can unload. Questions on Ultimate Edition
Hi Mark, I´ve been writing scenarios for both HC and H3 / ANW for literally decades now and if you try H3 ANW and need any assistance ....just ask. Regarding the database, I strongly recommend using Darren Buckley´s HUD 3 which has become ANW´s official database. Yes, maybe ANW is your "Weapon of choice". It´s perfect for micromanaging and thus for small scenarios like your "Jap Fish". But mind one thing: the H3 / ANW community is sometimes rather difficult and cannot be compared with this really nice HC community, concentrated on this lovely spot HG. You´ll detect it when you join the Matrix forum where the main ANW discussions take place. The guy who´ll always help you out there is Darren Buckley aka Bucks. Regards, Ralf

File - WPac - Surprises in the Pacific
Hi guys, anyone playing it or has anyone won it? Would be interested; maybe I made it too difficult? Regards, Ralf

So has it been fixed or is it still one of the most bug riddled broken pieces of software on the market
Hi, being new to a forum it is not a sign of good manners to bash the software the guys around love for years and decades. First post could be to introduce oneself. And if you post about the sim, you should be far more precise: Which Harpoon version causes what kind of problems? Harpoon Classic has no major problems and the latest versions all were very stable. ANW in its current 3.10 has made great improvements, too. So, if you are interested in a decent discussion, rethink your approach to the forum and get more precise. Regards, Ralf

A walk through the versions
Hi Silent, fascinating AARs! I love it. Reading your comments on that old scens is high end nostalgia, giving me back the feelings I had 15 years back when I played them first. Keep on with it! Ralf

Hi Tony, +1 on F-14 Fleet Defender http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...mp;showfile=240 (I suggest reading the support topic for this, some spirited play is described, even some by me) and the original! http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...mp;showfile=236 Yes, I remember how You fought Your way through it. Didn´t You even forget that there were bombers based on the US East Coast and You won without them? Nice AARs, indeed. I think I´ll write another super-monster for Brad and You.

Gatekeeper - Red side
Is that Shipwreck missile land attack capable? Discuseed that with Darren reagrding his HUD 3 database for Harpoon 3 / ANW. There it is. Darren created two versions of the Shipwreck, one for killing ship, one land attack. How is that in HC?

File - WPac - Surprises in the Pacific
Hi Gopher, Do what you can Until now, each and any scen found its master. I once thought I´d written one which no one could win - F-14 Fleet Defender 1.1. Bot buth Tony and Brad won it, though after furious and long-lasting battles. One hint: You have some really nice assets at Clark AFB.

Guys, you need, in addition to divefreak´s latest HC95to10 database (submitted on December, 26th), his picture file: http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...mp;showfile=328 Then everything should work as intended. Regards, Ralf

File - WPac - Surprises in the Pacific
Hi Pooners, "Surprises in the Pacific" is my first Harpoon Classic scen since two years I think. I hope I haven´t forgotten how to write challenging HC scens. The scenario is a large one in the tradition of my "monster" scens "Backyard" 1 and 2 and "F-14 Fleet Defender". Hope You enjoy it! Regards, Ralf
