Weapon Annex Problems
Found the problem, thank you for sending your data file over. The issue is that you have two items in the Ordnance annex set to a type of missile (missiles go in a different annex). Once you have an AnnexID for a weapon, you cannot change the weapon type (in other words, when you add a weapon, first set its type before entering other information). The items in question are: Ordnance ID 30790 Spetznaz Coy Ordnance ID 30791 BMP-4 So you have a couple of options, make new entries, setting type to missile immediately, then change the name of the above entries to something like (zDONOTUSE)(and set their type back to Ordnance), or you can change the above two items back to the type=Ordnance. Keep at it

ExportDLLs
Sorry for not explaining the grander plan. It is my intention that this will replace the in-game unit window entirely and provide the template for coding a new scenario editor and eventual replacement of the Group window as well. We have the need for the Unit window replacement (due to Zoom levels/ASW prosecution) and it also happens to be the easiest map window to replace so I ran with the idea. Yes, I'll get it added into the windows list sooner or later (probably sooner since you've asked).

Weapon Annex Problems
Right on Rene, almost certainly a gap in ID numbers within an annex, which HC doesn't like. Dave, please zip up your pfData file and e-mail it to hc3@harpgamer.com so that we can make sure. I'll send you back the modified PE once we've had a look.

ExportDLLs
True Buddha, but now the DLL shows all of the detected units. Next we start to get to those challenging parts of selection of a unit in the UnitWin window and those other functions you've just mentioned (right-clicking in Group window to affect the UnitWin window). Zooming is an area for which ideas are welcome. I was thinking about adding a horizontal slider that you drag with the mouse to zoom in and out. Fixed zoom levels probably don't fit very well like in the existing Unit window. Thoughts? Note that you can also right-click and drag a rectangle to zoom to that approximate area.

ExportDLLs
New version attached (this must be used with 2008.056 GE). Unzip the whole ball of wax with directories in tact to your HCE directory. (so that you'll end up with a HCE\UnitWin directory as well as the updated DLL in ExportDLLs directory. Added a bunch of stuff. Known issue is stuff drawing in black that should be some color. Otherwise look for crashing when closing the game. Some of the code I wrote to increase responsiveness may result in crashes if I didn't get it solved.

HCE Release Notes
HCE - 2008.056 ============== - Chg:0000 GE More internal changes for Unit window efforts. Pass HC window handle to DLL to allow HC to be parent window. Convinced the DLL not to crash the GE when using Application.ProcessMessages to increase DLL responsiveness. - Chg:0000 GE Send all detected units to the UnitWindow DLL, not just the ones visible in the game unit window.

solid green is direct path passive sonar, dotted are CZs.

Unit Window Fun
Progress, direction arrows added (now to the nearest degree instead of nearest 45 degrees), jamming indicator, unknown (i.e. yellow) units, sonobuoys, and a bunch of other stuff. More tricky code to write and a bug or two to sort out but still moving forward.

Differences Recap between H4 and H4.1 ?
imho the most difficult page to find on the whole CoA site... http://www.clashofarms.com/sitrep.html What I like from Sitrep: 1. Rule clarifications and first publishing point of new rules (such as the newish dogfight procedures) 2. Scenarios in print form including overview maps (though not maps you would lay the minis out on) 3. Warm fuzzy feeling reading Bond and the others enthuse about the game 4. Platform information that hasn't made it into the annexes yet

I'd go for High Tide Complete Set http://www.clashofarms.com/high-tide.html if you are starting from scratch. Don't forget a subscription to the Naval Sitrep, good stuff in there every time.

H4 Ground Rules ?
I'd like to hear about the mythical Ground Combat System as well. Pete has used it but I've never really understood where it exists... http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?showtopic=890

ExportDLLs
New version attached (this must be used with 2008.055 GE). Unzip the whole ball of wax with directories in tact to your HCE directory. (so that you'll end up with a HCE\UnitWin directory as well as the updated DLL in ExportDLLs directory. From yesterday's build added SonoBuoys (it will show them all, not just the ones in the HC unit window). Hopefully fixed the crash Buddha found when changing battlesets between scens (or even starting a new scen). Added a couple of other inconsequential tidbits. Next up is either uncertain units or heading arrows (and maybe saving of settings, that absence is starting to annoy me)

Unit Window Fun
It may not be as glitzy as it seems. The aircraft photo is actually my desktop wallpaper and I set the map window to partial transparency (that slider looking totally out of place adjusts the transparency) so the photo shows through. Really the goal is a somewhat more friendly map window with smooth(er) zoom and movement around the map. It doesn't hurt that it is a full Earth globe that will maybe possibly someday allow us to loft ICBMs over the great white north.

Time Compression = Not Responding
Yes, if the DLL is there then the game is spending resources sending information to the DLL even if Google Earth isn't open. Disabling it by renaming it to an extension other than .dll or removing the file will ease the processing burden. That may regain some responsiveness for you. Vista will show not responding in heavy game action because the game really and truly isn't able to respond to user interface events when running to many calculations. That isn't a Vista 'problem' at all, Vista is just a little more sensitive than previous versions of Windows in looking for those situations.

Hitting back on JSF
Man, they are as sensitive about JSF as I am about HC some days

Time Compression = Not Responding
Buddha, since I've got DLLs on the brain, you don't happen to have the datadump or googleearth dll active and using up your computing power making the Nort Responding messages more frequent do you? It'd be too easy of an answer

ExportDLLs
Thanks for the feedback Buddha. New version attached (this must be used with 2008.054 GE). Unzip the whole ball of wax with directories in tact to your HCE directory. (so that you'll end up with a HCE\UnitWin directory as well as the updated DLL in ExportDLLs directory. As with the prior one, this only shows units visible in the Unit window that are exactly detected. Looking again for stability reports and responsiveness of the globe reports. z and x keys to zoom in and out (depending upon what you last clicked).

Ralf´s Wishlist
Hehe, got it Ralf, and have been laying the groundwork for a few weeks. A new SE won't happen quickly but I think we're committed to the idea (I am anyway).
