It is a most excellent avatar, and one of my most used DVDs.
  2. It sounds like you are entering a HC2002 serial number instead of an HC Gold serial number (allowing EC2003). Look in your records for one that starts with HCGOLD. If you can't find it, head to the eSellerate order look-up page and try to retrieve it with the e-mail address you used to purchase HC Gold. https://store5.esellerate.net/store/support/Default.aspx If you never bought HC Gold then it is correct that you only get the pre-EC2003 battlesets as thta is what HC2002 represented.
  3. I was looking for a related post when I got distracted yesterday... We made a conscious decision not to put the effort into having the correct stratmap for the EC2000 battlesets when we added them to HCE. If there some day is an overwhelming demand for the correct stratmaps then we'll have to put the time in to make it happen. Until then know it was done with the best efficiency/slacker ideals in mind.

    Yay! Thanks for testing.

Yup, good stuff Josef, hoping some better people pass your way for the staff assistant himself (herself?) but the backgrounds you came up with are awesome. No problems in the game when I run it here.

Hehe, #19 was very polite. We just really need a 32-bit scenario editor instead our 16-bit beast of burden (when the databases started getting large we hit the limit of text in the list so countries get the axe more than the other fields). There is hope, just not immediately.
  7. The following testers need to get some participation in by the end of the month to remain on the beta testing team for HCE. Gopher - You need 3 meaningful contributions Angle of Attack - You also need 3 meaningful contributions RA-5C - ditto Tasan - ditto Charlie - You confirmed half of the items from the 2008.045 release notes and made one additional meaningful contribution. That leaves the other items from 2008.045 release notes (BS Builder related iirc) and two additional meaningful contributions. I could even be convinced to accept 4 meaningful contributions as an alternative.

Some clarification (maybe) on how it worked in pre 2008.048 [16:08] TonyE: so let's say you start building a scenario and you add 4 x F-15E to an airbase and choose a 15% chance of inclusion. [16:08] Stalintc: ok [16:09] TonyE: you save the scenario because you can't finish designing it right now. [16:09] Stalintc: yup [16:09] TonyE: when you re-load that scenario the 4 x F-15E magically jumped to 100% chance of inclusion [16:09] Stalintc: ahhh ok I understand now [16:09] TonyE: so only if you wrote the whole scenario in one sitting would your original intent be captured.

HCE - 2008.048 ============== - Chg:0000 SE When loading a scenario that had a % chance of inclusion for planes, that % chance of inclusion was lost. That means only scenarios using % chance of inclusion other than 100% for planes that were only saved once acctually honor the denoted % chance of inclusion. (thanks TonyE)
  11. (thanks TonyE) Brad, I think you are the only one other than me capable of testing this conclusively, but the rest of you can use some common sense testing (i.e. use low % of inclusion and see how that works in the GE after messing with the scen in the SE a few times, changing loadouts of those low % inclusion planes, saving the scen, loading the scen, changing loadout again,... See http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?showtopic=3104 for my test file (F14_Tst1.SCz has 25% chance of inclusion F-22)
  12. Fixed to the specified "Correct behavior" for 2008.048
  13. Component: SE Version: 2008.045 (and earlier) When adding air units the scenario designer is allowed to specify a % chance of inclusion for that air unit. However, if the loadout is changed in the SE, even if all planes in the unit are changed at the same time, the % chance of inclusion is reset to 100%. Correct behavior: 1. If you change the loadout for the entire unit (which may be 1 plane or 8 planes, whatever increment they were added in the first place), the unit should keep the % chance of inclusion originally denoted. 2. If you change the loadout for part of the unit I think the % chance of inclusion should stay as originally denoted as well. F14_Tst1.SCz has 25% inclusion for F-22 F14_Tst2.SCz is re-saved with changed loadout and subsequent 100% chance of inclusion InclusionChance.zip
  14. Thanks Pete, good stuff
  15. I haven't converted to Vista, I'm running XP and the SE runs fine with it. The SE doesn't run under Vista 64 bit without an emulator. Hopefully Tony will have some answers for you. Brad is right. We'll need more detail about how the SE isn't working in your installation.

Any range > 0 does result in the jamming working, though the impact it has on the detecting radar may be small. The general rules for effective jamming. 1. If you are using a jammer to escort friendly planes, keep it as close to the friendly planes as possible to help 'shield' the friendly planes. 2. If you are using a jammer to try to blind enemy radar, get the jammer as close to the enemy radar as possible. ECM with range 50nm can reduce a 360nm ranged radar to an effective range of 193nm in the game. A 20nm jammer can reduce that same 360nm radar to 301nm range.
  17. Looks like fun with the near future bent and slightly unrealistic orders of battle. My kind of setup for sure.

Keep thinking (especially out loud) The value of space is a hot topic in our beta team logistics development thread right now (specifically whether having a single 'cost' number is sufficient for weapons stored on an AOE or whether there must be a second number splitting cost into a monetary cost and a space cost). I'm still leaning towards a single number but that doesn't much help the aircraft capacity question. I think the paper rules give us some guidance as to what might be done in terms of a basic rule on how many Small or VSmall aircraft can fit in the same space as a Large or VLarge aircraft. My thoughts on spares capacity is that it is outside the scope of HC as well as maintenance in many ways (though I am all for more varied ready times). Anyway, don't mind me, carry on the discussion oh, pboiler, please add that new wish also to the first post in the thread (as number 16) so that it doesn't get lost when I'm looking thru the lists in the future. Thanks!

Up in the air yet Buddha. There will probably be some effort at making them work passably.

The animation is a good indicator that the torpedo did acquire the target and guide. If the animation shows you guided okay and just lost out on the die roll and whatever other factors came into play for the hit resolution. The two icons coming close together on the unit map without an animation does not indicate much of anything except that things came awfully close...
  21. HCE - 2008.047 ============== - Chg:0000 GE Game Options - Added separate map color options for the Unit window. - Chg:0000 GE Game Options - The dialog now enables and disables the textured water option as appropriate per battleset. - Chg:0000 GE Disabled map lat/lon grid lines since they are quite inaccurate.

  23. Attached is a spreadsheet with the wishes from HarpGamer wishlists and the Matrix Forums WishList thread. The Component column is just a guide, most of the items apply across multiple components Occurences is how many different people listed the item in their wishlist Your wishes definitely have bearing on the future of the game, thank you for the lists you have crafted here so far!
