How many statements are you making here? By display, do you mean the platform display? Any elaboration is appreciated. I initially had the feeling you are talking about the mini report window that should speed, heading, damange,...
  2. Correct, aircraft sent on LR Patrol missions will not attack an airbase, port, etc. They would attack a ship or sub group, and should attack a mobile land unit group. I don't know if there might be some combination of MLUs and fixed bases that would at least make it appear a multi-axis attack was underway. True scenario craftsmanship required there I bet.
  3. That's likely not a small fault either, the word bulkhead and structural fault don't make good bedfellows.
  4. Yup, you have no way of accomplishing exactly what you want in this case. You can fake it by placing airfields in mid-ocean or using aircraft carriers.

2010.011 - 2010/11/17 Nuclear Release Enabled and Disabled should now work correctly (thanks Don Thomas). Also made some drop-down boxes not drop-down as far.
  6. Okay guys, we have the Baka construct from http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?s...411&hl=baka for aircraft. Do we want to code that same kludge into ships/subs/MLUs? Note that the release notes say that Baka is case sensitive, perhaps that was your issue earlier in the thread Don?
  7. Great article, a history of an individual conflict and of helicopters (with a rare French bias). Thank you for sharing it.
  8. Matrix is just working up a new installer with some of the ANW issues hopefully fixed. The original plan was about the 20th of November so I'm thinking the wait for the update (if they wait) will push it out another week to the very beginning of December. Disclaimer: This is all a wild but educated guess.

For a AGSI side-project it became time to try something that was pretty much unthinkable before we had the BS Builder and code to convert saved game versions on-the-fly. Those two things combined open the door to a capability a few of you have desired, starting a scenario with planes in the air. Yesterday I put ideas to code and there is definite potential. I've modified the battleset builder to accept saved games as well as scenarios. The data structure modifications to note scen vs save have also been added to the BS Builder and the GE. At this point the GE is correctly noting that it is trying to load a saved game instead of a scenario file. Yet to do is get the GE to actually load the save from the battleset. Just thought I'd clue you in on something that just might work and become a part of the game. Someday with more tools this could lead to that hallowed request of (damage the ship this much, disable that mount, ...).
  10. My take: The digital military art does nothing for me so I don't care about that. The old versions of HC are neat for me to tread back in history but when I play it is always the current version. Ditto for H3/ANW HC has some significant changes coming down the line (see the beta area here at Harpgamer). It won't be anytime soon but when they appear it should be worth the money. Overall for me that means the only reason I personally would shell out the money if I already owned the games is to get the future patches. If I only owned HCE then imho it is worth the money as well to get the H3/ANW series as well as the updates.
  11. For orientation (what happened where, when) I highly suggest "Battle Atlas of the Falklands War 1982 by Land, Sea and Air." I'm sure others will chime in with the heavy-hitting Falklands books, we do have some masters of the topic hanging around here!
  12. My personal opinion is that I'd like all HC talk to happen at harpgamer including Ultimate. Since Matrix is the publisher, I'll grudgingly visit and participate in their forum . To get from the standard 2009.044 to Ultimate a number of tidbits were scraped from newer builds per: HCE - 2009.050 - 2010/05/08 =========================== - Chg:0000 GE Wrapping back in changes for HC Ultimate but we couldn't bring forward true air to surface gunnery at this point due to code quality issues. - Chg:0000 PE Changed end_edit.bat support contact information to HarpGamer. 2009.045 - Chg:0000 GE Allow aircraft to fire ASROC type weapons at submarines. (thanks Brad & Brains) 2009.046 - Chg:0000 GE When using formation editor from Group window, the masking of the unit icons was going haywire (since oh, 2005 or so). Finally tracked it down and fixed it, the masking should now work (i.e. no black or white unit/group icon backgrounds in all situations. (thanks DonG, and many others over years) 2009.047 - Chg:B141 GE Unit detail display would crash if aircraft's home unit was destroyed. Fixed (thanks Don Thomas) 2009.048 You can see from the snippets above that not much past 2009.044 was included in Ultimate. So you can stroll through the release notes after 2009.045 to get an idea of where the current beta is at: http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?s...ost&p=17063 (you'll note a few items incorporated into Ultimate) What I take away from it is that the current beta 2010.011 goes way beyond Ultimate both under the hood and visibly (with the four group windows and function key hints on the main button bar).
  13. Amen to that!

  17. I await with anticipation the input of the crowd. I know depth charges were sinking player ships if the player is moving too slowly (per the paper rules actually, Brad and I looked that up one day) so a depth charge is a weapon type you could use. Nukes also do the trick but that's a whole different ball of wax.

Hi Chris, The first place to try is digital river's service... https://www.findmyorder.com/sstore?Action=D...mp;Locale=en_US If that no longer provides you with the download link, holler again and we'll figure something out. Keep yourself a copy of the base installer this time . Once you have that downloaded and installed, grab 2008.044 from the Matrix download area you have been frequenting. Then toss on 2009.042 from the beta area here.
  19. Unfortunately you don't have a legal license to the XP mode unless you have a legal license or have Win 7 Pro or better.
  20. On the HC side the most straightforward approach in your situation would be an in-place upgrade to Win7 Pro or Ultimate where you'll gain the XP Mode virtual machine where you can run the HC SE (Scenario Editor). There are many other approaches, one of them being to fund a 32-bit SE. That'd make me happier

Neutrals are still neutered so those things are not yet possible. Much of the plumbing is there though via the Sides structure (which will eventually allow Red and Blue to team up against Green, and the Red to get mad at Blue and break the alliance). But that's so amazingly far down the road I hesitate to mention it!
  22. The most straightforward approach is to update your Windows 7 license to the pro or ultimate edition where you'll gain access to the XP Mode virtual machine where you can run 16-bit applications and just about anything else that works on XP 32-bit and not Windows 7 64-bit.
  23. Noted, but unlikely to be implemented in the near term. Unfortunately it isn't a small item code-wise.
