  1. From the sounds of it, the captain will end up being lucky to ride out a desk the rest of his career. This kind of incident could prove a career ender.
  2. There are a few things you can do to really improve the AI though: Be sure to give it lots of EW and AEW assets. The better the coverage, the more agressive the AI response. Set up patrols to make sure that it can find the things you want it to find and attack. Formation patrols can be used to make small groups for ASuW attacks. For installation attacks, you'll simply have to program them yourself and be sure to use the time variations to make the attack unpredictable.

  4. Found an error in the Official DB: MH-60R has two identical ASW loadouts. I'm guessing you added it twice by mistake. Also, is it correct that most large helos (IE Mi-24) can't land on the Viraat?

    I probably got it Herman, but I've been so busy lately I'd forgotten about it. And I purged my email the other day (get too many at times) so if its not a problem seeing it again would help.
  6. The slow movement speed probably helps to simulate the take down/set up time for the unit to become actually usable. It simulates the average time it would take to make the move, in an abstract way.
  7. There really isn't a reason you couldn't make both available and let players choose which one works best for them. Seen plenty of games take that approach with their shortcut key maps over the years.

  9. What's sad is that you have shown me shortcuts that I didn't know existed. Probably in the documentation, but when you don't use them often you have a tendancy to forget they exist at all.
  10. That would be very helpfull, along with a zip file of the scenario so I can take a look at it in my SE.
  11. Try this: Enter the sensors on/off command from the regular menu instead of through the course editor. If this also does not work let me know and we'll go from there.
  12. For #1: Be nice if they would take it further and allow the player to pre-set a number of 'hot key' focuses for quick and easy access. For example: I get my view set where I want it, then press CTL+F1 to set that as view F1. Later when I need to get back there in a hurry I just press F1 and it goes to my preset. #2: Could be more easily handled by a mobile 'FARP' unit that allows the landing of 1 helo to refuel it. You could actually do that now yourself with the platform editor, but an official unit would be nice as well.

Actually, I believe the display of 32/32 under Max Speed in the first report indicates that the full 32 knots is currently available to the platform (IE, not reduced due to any damage), and not the speed the platform is currently using. This is similar to the 107/107 immediately above for Damage Points. Buddha Oops, hehe. That just goes to show that I don't know it all after all.
  14. Another I noticed looking at the screenshots. The top submarine is running at max speed, and that will seriously degrade the sonar ability, hence the reason your sonars have lost their CZ abilities.

    I think I would really like aircraft issued a manual 'land' order to default to their home/launching base. The player can always choose a closer base manually. Added as #1 to the list.

    I'm seriously considering going back to 2008.068 actually. That or re-writing all of the targeting code from scratch since it is just wrong and hammering a square peg into a round hole just isn't working. Anyway, confirmed this behavior you are seeing. Otherwise so far I'm thinking 2009.005 is better than the other 2009.xxx builds so far. I'm not seeing the benefit of going back to 2009.004 at present. Try using a large heavy mallet. That usually takes care of most problems (particularly computer problems).
  18. Maybe it is not so fixed. On the other hand, I tried the land units, not the base itself.
  19. Tried this in build 2009.005 and it would not let me fire torpedoes on land units. Looks like it might be fixed in the new build.

    Now I can attack the port itself with missiles when the sub and port are both detected. However I can no longer fire on the submarine at all. fwiw (probably not worth much) you can't fire at the sub because it is out of your weapons range. I'm not sure we can do anything about this one but I'll take a look. It worked for me in my test scen since the enemy sub was in range of my torps. I actually moved my sub in range and still couldn't fire. At least I thought I moved in range.

    There are some weapons that don't allow BOL attacks at all, or at least won't work if they do allow it (HARM comes to mind).
