I had a computer problem recently and lost most of my HCDB's. Are these the launch parameters or are they the altitudes the weapon travels at? I'm asking because I'm having trouble understanding why a AGM-84E SLAM can only be launched at VLOW altitude...when I've seen footage of them being launched at atleast High.

In scrolling through the DB, and after reading the Yugoslav AAR, my interest has piked again over HCCE's employment of ground units. I believe that I have seen indiviual tanks through brigades and divisions. Since the maps are road and other specific terrain-less, do they simply move as "land-ships" that are prohibited from moving into the sea? How about how they "fight" other ground units. Do they have an extremely short effective range, or must they be "in contact" with the opposing force? How were the unit's damage points determined? I'm sure that I'll have more questions and will post them later. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Hi guys, Was browsing the platform editor and size of the F-22 Raptor caught my eye. Raptors size in the game is very small 'though in reality it's almost as large as F-15 wich is large in the game. Does this reflect F-22's stealth capabilities? I thought it's done with RCS? My database is HCDB-100308. btw allthought this is my first post, I have learned so much about HCE by reading HarpGamer forums. So thank you everybody -Anssi

What is the maximum allowable number of damage points that could be attributed to an installation? My guess is that is is some (2^n)-1

I've noticed that in the latest version of the HCDB, weapons based on the Mk 82 do more damage, and those based on the Mk 84 do significantly less, than in previous versions. I presume that this is based on a paper rules update, but what was the rationale? 'Enquiring minds want to know!'

As I tried to wrap my head around the idea of expanding the database limits, I keep coming back to the idea that we'll need a new database editor. MS Access is getting long in the tooth so a wholesale re-write might be nice. Well, the database storage mechanism will be a whole lot different so how do existing battlesets and scenarios get treated? Maybe their databases could be migrated to the new format. That train of thought led me to digging in old source code (from HC2002 actually) to see what Tools Bret had to dig information out of the legacy battlesets. Some code that I changed years ago has been bothering me. At one point I limited the Damage Points of non-nuclear weapons to 999 DP. That has no functional merit in the code so I've gone back to the old limit of 30,000DP for a conventional weapon. So have fun DB editors, you can make bigger bombs again...

Brad, I believe that you indicated that most of the new units are now derived from H4.1 paper rules. I hope that this is somewhat the case for the ground units as I would like to request the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Brigade found on page 37 of Dave Schuler's Harpoon Naval Review 2003. Do you have access to these stats? Can you work with Adjusted Unit Ground Combat Strengths (GCS)? I have a few questions about the DB and please excuse my ignorance on the subject, Ive been away from harpoon for several years now. I'm currently putting together some scenarios in the westpac battleset and I'm running into a few problems. I am trying to construct the scenarios reasonably realistically, Some of it is hypothetical but I'm not doing things like giving Singapore an aircraft carrier but I am using platforms that won't be in service until the 2015-2020 time frame. The problem is the huge buildup in forces in the area. When I look up some ships, I find several variations of the same hull being used and the DB doesn't include all of them. I know the official database (Brad's HCDB-xxxxxx) is maintained so as to be workable with old scenarios written on any of its predecessors, and with all else being as is this is necessary but I have this following thought (collection of thoughts). The most recent battlesets' built in scenarios (say in EC2003 family of battlesets) are getting old. In some future release/patch/upgrade I see a need for perhaps post 2010 era scenarios built in to battlesets. Also some of the battlesets have no built in scenarios and these ideally should have some. Hi, I am trying to track down which Gearings and Sumners were updated while on Turikish service with Harpoon and 35mm dual guns - the DB shows only 2 of them, but I have found photographic evidence 3 were so updated, so I am trying to find out how they looked in the 90s, and it seems all photos on the web were taken from the bow! Any help, please?

I was looking over the loadouts for the F-22A Raptor in the default db, and noticed a few problems. First, the Intercept loadout is listed as 4 * AIM-120C5, 2 * AIM-120D, and 1 * AIM-9X. Should there not be TWO AIM-9X? Second, the GP loadout lists, among other things, 2 * GBU-31 (BLU-109) JDAM. GBU-31 is a 2000-lb bomb, whereas AFAIK, the F-22 is only capable of loading the smaller 1000-lb GBU-32. Finally, the GP-2 loadout lists the GBU-39/B SDB as having a damage rating of 40.
