Hi, I used to play Harpoon alot a long time ago. Like to try it again but before I buy it from Matrix I wanted to get a feeling for how well it works today and how stable it is. So I downloaded the demo, and it crashed. * Downloaded HCE Demo 2016.003 * Installed * Start, select GIUK, No mans land, Blue * Press Ctrl-B for order of battle * Click Airfield Aba * Game crashes I can't really think that this is normal, more likely something is wrong with my setup but I have no idea what would cause a crash like that in such a simple and repeatable way. I will admit to having been able to play through this scenario once and still come away unscathed during Red's first vicious antiship missile attack. Otherwise I can usually save the carriers, albeit rarely without sustaining some damage and never without losing an escort. How have others fared? Man up!

I am a newbie in HCE. I am just trying to do a clean install of HCE on my laptop. I tried the following sequence of patches: 1. HarpoonCommandersEdition-SetupRelease-v2008-024 2. HarpoonCommandersEdition-UpdateInstaller-2008.024 = It's working 3. HCE-UpdateComprehensiveInstaller-2009.050 = Error: The specified file: '' could not be found. Do I have to install v2008.044 before install v2009.050? I'll try to remember to periodically post the release notes of the current (test) builds of the game. It would be nice if there wasn't a significant lag from a change to when the change makes it into the hands of non-beta players but that just isn't the arrangement at present. Hopefully having an idea of what we're working on will be a positive thing.

Here is how to install the beta versions when Windows thinks you shouldn't. On the first screen click "More Info" On the second screen click "Run Anyway" Windows is doing a smart thing in that it is trying to prevent you from running programs that are unsigned. Signing gives a measure of assurance that the file is really from who it says it is from and in turn that it may actually be what it says it is. Historically it has been expensive and time consuming to get the signing up and running. HC being a hobby has meant spending money and time on something I don't much care about was a low priority, especially in versions of Windows where running unsigned …

...Hello - I've looked through the site for an answer to this one, but to no avail. I'm running HCE with the new battlesets (America, South Africa, etc) on my new Win7 laptop - the game runs like a champ, but SE refuses to run. I get an error message that says "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see if you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64 bit) version of the program, then contact the software publisher." Has anyone else run across this yet and if so, how did you sort it out? Thanks in advance.

Matrix just released the HUCE 2015.027 patch (yay!). A side-effect is that it is not currently possible to bring HCE up to the current beta version. This may change in the future as more components are updated again. A method of updating HCE (Harpoon Commander's Edition) to the current Beta versions. Note, this is not for HUCE (Harpoon Ultimate Commander's Edition). For HUCE, download and install the 2009.097 patch from Matrix Games, then install any Beta versions on top of that. 1. I'm a 41 year government employee and Harpoon player from "back in the day." I bought my first computer in 1990 and my first copy of Harpoon not long after that. I played it non stop for quite a long time. In the mid 1990's the opportunity to participate in beta testing a later version of Harpoon presented itself. I wish I could remember which version it was.
