Featured Replies

The 2008.024 beta patch is now an official patch and available from Matrix Games.

See the earlier announcements for details about what benefits the patch brings to the base 2007.000 release:

Yes, it is big, thanks to the map graphics needed for the BattleSet Builder

Tony,

I am wondering if Matrix will have an update CD available. I live in the "styx" and we have no DSL or cable internet connection available here. I tried to download but it said it would take over 26 hours to download!!! Also wanted to thank you for the help you gave me shortly after joining to download scenario files that I was having trouble with.

Thanks

Hi Chris,

Matrix will not be making update CDs but I'd be happy to burn one and send it to you. PM me your address and I'll send it Monday or Tuesday.

Thank you Tony. My address is:

I'm assuming I'll just have to run an install program and it will overwrite the previous version?

Tony,

Thanks again for the CD. How do you open the battleset builder? Also is there a scenario converter as in HC gold 2002 to convert EC2000 scenarios to EC2003 standards?

There is an icon for the BS Builder in the start menu but the names are so long I find them useless...

So, in your HCE directory you'll have a subdirectory called BSBuilder, in there is BSBuilder.exe, that is your bread and butter for making battlesets.

EC2000 to EC2003 converter is in your HCE directory, cvtscen.exe

Tony,

As regards the Start Menu Icons, what version of Windows are you running? With Vista, I noticed the same thing. All the menu labels were truncated so as to make them impossible to tell apart. I found that by R-Clicking on the Task Bar and selecting Classic Start Menu, you get the same layout as XP, and you can see the full titles of all of your shortcuts and solve the problem. If you choose to stay with the Vista style, the only thing that I found that works is to hold the mouse pointer over the shortcut and watch the baloon for the correct file to run.

Yes, I do the balloon thing when needed. But I don't use the start menu icons for HC, I always run directly by double clicking in the game directory.

Certainly workable. Doesn't that leave an explorer window open behind Harpoon, and using up RAM be being open?

Hehe, yes, but what's your point? Having Outlook open uses RAM, so does VMWare, and a virus scanner, and anti-spyware, programs use RAM, yes B). That explorer window also gives me quicker access to whatever copy of the PE I want to run, or the SE, or whatever else.

All true, Tony. I guess I tend to be a little stingy with RAM usage, a habit from the old days when 8 megs of RAM was a lot no doubt. Also, Vista has some really weird memory conflict issues that I haven't totally figured out yet, so I try to run as few things as possible.
