Hello, Has anyone had any UCE game freezes this week? I am running off an I3 / Win 7 Machine with ample hard drive space and 4GB of memory. I play UCE almost daily, but after the last Windows Update UCE freezes the moment I launch a game. Any ideas? Cheers

Though I'm no expert, I have done my best to put together a history of Harpoon. It's posted at my blog: Harpoon – Retro Viator. I have had a wonderful time pouring through old forums, abandoned websites (thanks to the Internet Archive: Wayback Machine), and reading through manuals and strategy guides. Actually all I did was install the "HCE-UpdateComprehensiveInstaller-2009.050.exe" 9299 MB size) I also have perhaps the same error of "Edit: seems like I did not install the first update correctly, that would be the issue I guess " - I went to C:\program files\ instead of with the X86 add since now at a 64 bit OS (prior was 32) thanks in advance.

I was curious, how realistic is harpoon? I know its probably one of the most realistic war game out there but just how close is it to real life? I'm guessing the ASW techniques and formations are pretty dead on, but what about the actual combat? Like for example; Is it realistic to fire 100 Tomahawk cruise missiles all at the same time at one target because you know some will be shot down? Or in real life do they fire one or two per target then if they are shot down then fire more? (I understand SEAD operations would be carried out prior) Are SAM defenses really so effective? I just purchased the harpoon game from Matrix,when I open the game the window is small the maximize button seems to be disabled any help would be appreciated

I bought the game and it came with multiple versions of Harpoon. The Commander Edition I load up there is no scenarios that I can find on my computer that came with it. What am I missing here? Thank you.

1.Was looking around and saw this at http://harpoon-ultimate-commanders-edition.software.informer.com/3.0/. Anybody know anything about it? 2. I can't find the custom database I was using when my system crashed. The D drive where I keep the files is ok, but I had to reload HUCE. I made sure I moved the entire game over to a new folder with a new name. While the scenario editor's platform display still shows the database. I cannot or have not yet found it when running the pf editor. 3. Which leads my to another questions. I recall there being a specific pfeditor execute file which I do not appear to find. I have a copy of HCE and can keep it up to date with the latest beta .exes. Other than having a complete collection of all the various versions of Harpoon, what is the benefit for a HCE player? And from something I read in one of the threads, did I correctly understand that purchase of HUE from Matrix benefits you guys not at all? This seems weird as aren't you the guys who provided all the update work?

I've purchased the Harpoon Ultimate Edition from Matrix. There are many different versions of classic harpoon that you can play with it. I was wondering if there is any info out there on what was changed from one version to another. I'm sure a lot of it was fixing bugs, but more interested in what features were added from version to the next.

Hey Guys I've been playing the Harpoon 4.1 rules for a little over 12 months. I've just started looking at PC based harpoon type games. I know this is a Harpoon site, but i had a few questions. 1. Is harpoon the PC game more about large scale battles or running individual ships/subs? 2. Is Harpoon PC any good? 3. How does Silent Hunter PC game compare? 4. Can anyone comment on either game, preferences, strenghts or weaknesses?

Ok. I got the Harpoon Signature Edition (HSE) converted from 5.25 floppy to 3.5 (CD) and it installed perfectly and runs great (15,000 frameskip) in DOSBox! I also have original boxed Designer Series I (HDSI) and II (HDSII) on 3.5 in floppy and they installed perfectly over the HSE. Haven't had time to tinker yet, but the HSE is v1.31se and the HDSII updates to v1.32a and also installs a "harp386.exe" that runs v1.386a. Not for sure the difference between v1.31se and v1.386a, but I did boot up both and the graphics on the v1.386a are sharper. This update can be applied to HUCE 2009.050. 2008.051 to 2009.097 Changes: New Features: The re-envisioned USNI BattleSet from the demo has been integrated into the release game. Vastly expanded the ExportDLL interface. Almost every aspect of the game engine can now be over-ridden by these plugins!
