HC Game Start
Hi Don, I think the command line options fit into the model of the original post. Right now the launcher does make you specify a battleset even if you've selected a user scenario/save from which it can pick the right battleset. In the game Brad says that he prefers picking the battleset first and then only facing the scenarios and saves that apply to that particular battleset so he accepts more clicks in exchange for the filtering of the list.

Here's an Interesting Nugget
The helicopter capability seems to be the main enabler of these ships right? Hopefully Brazil is thinking about all of the ways to expand the capabilities of these ships over time (close in missile defense, maybe a longer surface and sam punch,...).

32-bit Scenario Editor Progress
Exactly, the question was not VPC, it was Windows XP mode. It is not legal to use Windows XP mode without Win 7 Pro, Enterprise, or Ultimate.

The B-52 Gunners
Fun little article, I do have to wonder how much someone got chewed out for allowing two Iraqi fighters anywhere near a B-52 though.

32-bit Scenario Editor Progress
Better research it then, Windows XP mode is only legal for Pro, Enterprise, and Ultimate like I've listed a zillion times already........ http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows...ompare?T1=tab01

HC runs on Windows 8 Dev Preview
There are both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the Windows 8 preview. Just like windows versions since Windows 2000 if you are running the 32-bit version the SE will run, if you are running the 64-bit version you will need some kind of virtualization. I have not seen any information about whether XP Mode will be included in Windows 8 licenses like it is in Windows 7 Pro and higher.

HC Game Start
It seems that at least one type of submarines stopping when they shouldn't is involved with how the scenario is started (i.e. if you use File\Load User Scenario the subs don't stop but if you do File\New... they do). Loading scenarios and saved games (not to mention saving them) is almost unbelievably convoluted. HC Game Start GE Load a saved game Auto-selects battleset [*]GE Load a user scenario Auto-selects battleset [*]SE Load a user scenario Auto-selects battleset [*]Select a battleset GE Load a BS Scenario SE Load a BS Scenario SE New Scenario What other game start situations are there? The only one that I can think of that doesn't fit the model above are custom battlesets where the battleset cannot be derived purely from the scenario or saved game file extension.

No Scenario Editor on Install of HUCE
The problem in this, confirmed via e-mail is trying to run the scenario editor (16-bit application) under a 64-bit version of Windows 7 so I laid out a couple of the virtualization options.

No Scenario Editor on Install of HUCE
I'm guessing that http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?showtopic=2449 applies to you (i.e. that you are running a 64-bit version of windows)? If so we can help you get going with a virtual Windows XP installation if you have Windows 7 Professional/Enterprise/Ultimate.

For those thinking about Darren, remember him next year for the next Lifetime Pooner award. Until then there is the donation campaign by AGSI http://diabetesdiplomats.kintera.org/faf/d...supid=339415034 and continuing his work by helping Gunny out with HUD-4!

2011 Pooner voting!
What is a Pooner? A person who gives of their time, talents, and riches to the Harpoon community. An award given yearly to recognize the efforts of the above. The yearly Pooner award recognizes extraordinary effort often within (but not restricted to) a single 12 month period. 12/15 - nominations are now closed, vote through the end of December See past winners at http://www.harpoonpages.com/pooner2010.htm If you are banned here at HarpGamer, e-mail me (tonye@harpgamer.com) your nomination and vote to have them entered. Please do take the time to vote, even if you are pretty new to the game. Bonus points if you expound upon how great your choices for the 2011 Pooners are and why!
