Dennyb22, I would suggest thinking through this option since it starts to hint at the real complexity. How would you make this happen (at the core is "what defines an instance"). Brad, nice job shortcutting right to the easy solution of turning them off globally

It is an undesired behavior, I can understand you calling it a bug though . I would like to improve the situation if you are on board to work through it, test, tweak, repeat. A better behavior is a challenging design situation, how would you do it?

Well said Brad! sanderson, if you haven't tried out SimPlot yet, give it a whirl. KMart494 has made rapid progress. I hope to combine efforts someday! As for your gaming group, I agree that they won't be happy with anything short of a situation where a human can intervene so they are after play-aids more than a complete game with rather fixed rules. Every sensor can be replaced in HC via ExportDLLs (plugins) as can movement and a ton of other stuff but I bet they'll still be happier with Simplot, STK, and the like (play aids). I certainly dream bigger than that answer but at present that is the reality.

Scenario Editor in Win 7
Hi Gene, I normally dislike screenshots but can you post one of an offending screen in the SE? The link I sent you to removes registry entries and doesn't care where the game is installed. The registry entries in question hold the size of Harpoon windows, dialogs, columns in dialogs, etc. This leaves us with the known SE issues of column data not matching up with headers and secondarily the potential that you are using large fonts (very common on high dpi displays). Thank you

Scenario Editor in Win 7
There is no later version as yet. You could try resetting your HC registry settings with http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?/files/file/228-hce-clear-game-options-registry-settings/. That for sure won't completely fix things but it may improve the situation. Let us know how you fare. Thank you

Hi sanderson, I moved your post since it spanned a number of topics, only one of which was related to patching HCE to the current version of HC. Thanks for the pat on the back, much appreciated There was certainly a window before AGSI left the scene for ANW to be picked up by the community. I don't know if there is still a possibility of picking up the code. I didn't and don't have the time to pursue that. My opinion is that if you want an updated ANW, buy CMANO. The early builds to me play like a carbon-copy of ANW with a prettier interface. Since the early releases they've differentiated quite a bit (money and community will do that!). My interest in picking up the ANW codebase would have been to achieve more stable MP play. If CMANO hasn't achieved some integration with STK yet (and ArcGIS for that matter, not to mention pure defense contractor capabilities) I would be surprised. For individual users I don't think STK integration is key but if a military or defense contractor finds it attractive enough to commit to a buy then why wouldn't you integrate? There is only so much money in the gamer market for "our" games but the defense market is relatively unlimited.

HUCE 2015.027 download trouble
Can you start a new thread since your comment is about HUCE and not updating HCE to current? I just pulled up the page again and successfully downloaded the patch (haven't installed it yet). You can also use the update.exe from Matrix in the game directory to download and install the patch if you aren't already on 2015.027 or newer.

HCE Update to Current Beta
Matrix just released the HUCE 2015.027 patch (yay!). A side-effect is that it is not currently possible to bring HCE up to the current beta version. This may change in the future as more components are updated again. http://www.matrixgames.com/products/392/downloads/

Anyone interested?
Sure did, selected platforms, starting positions, then all went dark

Newbie seeking up-to-dateness
Oh nice, I sent them the update files earlier in December, didn't think they got the patch out before year end but I guess they did. They've always let me test it to make sure it is right before they release it but they didn't do that this time... I just now tried the Matrix updater to see that the update is available but haven't tested it to make sure it is correct. In other words, if Matrix packaged the files I sent correctly then all you need to do is apply the 2015.028 patch from the Beta files forum here to get the latest SE.

Newbie seeking up-to-dateness
If you installed the 2015.021, 2015.025, and 2015.026 packages before 2015.027, then yes, you would be correct that you only need the 2015.028. It normally isn't such a long list of patches. Sometime in January we'll get it down to a more manageable number.

Newbie + HUCE + HarpGamer Updates + DBs?
That was your problem with the newer runtime, you weren't using the up-to-date PE.
-
Newbie + HUCE + HarpGamer Updates + DBs?
Access runtime is full read/write of platforms in the database(s). What version of the runtime were you trying (I didn't know there were any x64 variants of the runtime, neat that there are)? You might not be using the latest PE if you are seeing that message about previous version. Make sure you are using the 2015.025 PE from the Beta Files area here at HG. Only MS Access will work as the PE is highly dependent upon VBA and file import/export filters that competing products do not comprehend at all. Keep us updated on your progress.

HUCE - How to close bottom 20th Anniversary window?
With the game closed, go into the ExportDLLs folder and rename DigMilArt.dll to something like DigMilArt.bak.
-
Platform Editor - MS Access Version
Not unless you want to edit the raw .csv files. You can however use the MS Access runtime such as the Access 2013 runtime. The PE will run fine with that (once you get through enough security prompts...), http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39358 The PE should work with the Access XP or newer runtime.

HCE or HUCE, that is the question?
One last tidbit, Matrix may distribute one more official patch, 2015.027. That would only apply to HUCE. In sum, since you have HUCE, best to stick with that but you can disable the digital military art ExportDLL if it annoys you.
-
HCE or HUCE, that is the question?
HUCE adds the digital military art and the HC20 historical versions of the game. I view the military art as a one-time-use gimmick though the art is pretty. The HC20 is a launcher that exposes 19 old versions + the current game version to you should you be inclined to dig back in history from an early alpha version of the game right up to the present build.

GE increments
That depends what version you are coming from. It is always safest to continue a saved game with the version in which you started the scenario since the conversion process often makes some assumptions. Another thing you can do is rename your existing GE and then install the update to get the best of both worlds (i.e. run the old version to finish your game-in-progress and the new version for new scenario starts). I do this at times. On this machine for instance I have: Winharp32.exe Winharp32_2015.003.exe Winharp32_2015.004.exe Winharp32_2015.006.exe Winharp32_2015.017.exe One limitation of this approach is you won't be able to use new DBs that make use of > 2047 items per annex until you finish that old game. Some people go really nuts and keep a whole HC install for each major version. If you do that, scrape out HC20 and DigMilArt directories from your template since they take up space without adding much to the gameplay.
