  1. To build almost every DB is a huge job, and with no end in sight too, I start my own WWII DB one or two years ago (or it will be four years ago?), but I never think about end it. I've also part of a interesting WWI DB, centrated in the Mediterranean and Black Sea, with one of my most favorite ships, the BC Goeben/Yavuz, also the Austro-Hungarian and Italian fleets, and the guerrilla warfare in the Adriatic Sea, and the Otranto Barrage drifters (and almost all the ships of Jutland and Dogger Bank). Other projects initiated are some ships of the Spanish-American war (only the Santiago de Cuba battle) and the Russo-Japanese war (for sake of testing game scales, guns damage and hit points values equivalent to armour), almost every ship with military value of the Spanish Civil war (including of course my own grand-father submarine, the C-3), and some ships of the American Civil war. Of course, all the data researched and retrieved and the partial DBs are at your disposition, if do you want some concrete informations. And yes, I know the complaints about the communications issue in computer Harpoon, My request and comments about the WWII DB are for the sake of commonality in the entries of the DB with other gamers designed scenarios, and I don't want to duplicate efforts, we can modify later the platforms with our ideas, but I think is better if at least the number entry of the platforms are common in our personal database, age by age. My advance in the WWII DB is very hampered now because my incapability to install and run the compatible patches with the use of airguns (I let aside for the moment the WWII DB, and now I'm "tuning" the Falklands/Malvinas ships in the DB Americas some weeks ago, for play a "short" game, but of course the "short" work of "tuning" a minimous part of the DB Americas is a big work, and we've our "real" lifes and jobs, too ...). Yes, I was thinking may be a little of bad taste for my side to request Brad for specific platforms in the WWII DB, but today I was inspired for his request for data about the lend-lease four stakers, and I think was a good moment for a request for determinated platforms. Thanks by the great job, Brad. Now, I go to the WWII DB platform request forum, hehehe ...
  2. I'm thinking in make a "hunt the Bismarck" scenario, but in the WWII DB I only see her sistership Tirpitz, and I don't see BB King George V neither BB Nelson classes
  3. Very impressive, yes Also, I see in the reading of the full article, the actual designation of one of her radars is SPY-4 VSR, not SPY-2 VSR, as in the DB, there're some controversy about the actual designation: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/sys...systems/vsr.htm Googling the new designation SPY-4 links almost only to the original article: http://www.defensenews.com/story.php?i=423...c=FEA&s=CVS and to this technical and generic article: http://www.virtualacquisitionshowcase.com/...rvice-Brief.pdf
  4. Problems, many error messages in the installation in my second computer, I don't try in the primary computer, tomorrow may be I can specific more details.
  5. This morning I've read the entry about Arishant in Wikipedia, interesting and with a also interesting schematic. I've download the schematic picture this morning, and now .... it's about to be deleted by copyvio matters (in plain, illustration originary of India Today, uncredited). If you want see it : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INS_Arihant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Advanced...logy_vessel.JPG http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9...logy_vessel.JPG
  6. Trying to test the guns, and doing some research, I've find a pair of interesting sites about air guns: http://www.geocities.com/capecanaveral/han...un/fgun-in.html http://www.canit.se/~griffon/aviation/text/akandata.htm
  7. Another matters, a pair of modern spanish radars: Developed by INDRA Sistemas : ARIES radar: a high resolution, LPI, surface search radar. 9. The links http://www.israeli-weapons.com/weapons/mis...itald/TALD.html and http://www.israeli-weapons.com/israeli_wea...le_systems.html are dead links for some months ago ... at least for my internet connection I don't know the first operational use of UAVs, but I think at least it was the supersonic and futuristic looking Ryan Firebees in Vietnam War. http://www.designation-systems.net/dusrm/m-34.html (very complete link, with photos of underwing loads/weapons) http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=H_LuJ8n...lt&resnum=2 (Have Lemon project, first test launching of Maverick from Firebee in 1971, and others, like Stubby Hobo) http://aupress.maxwell.af.mil/CADRE_Papers/PDF_Bin/clark.pdf (Interesting paper about historical evolution of UAVs. First use of UCAVs?: "The Israelis agreed with this philosophy and used the BGM- 34A for the delivery of weapons against Egyptian missile sites and armored vehicles. Using the camera mounted in its nose, the BGM-34A located the target and passed it on to the console operator located safely behind friendly lines. After examining the television picture and determining the target’s location, the operator selected the target and fired an AGM-65 Maverick missile from the UCAV at the target. The target’s image was relayed to another camera housed within the missile, which guided the missile to the target. In December 1973 the Israelis acknowledged their use of UCAVs in the October War.") http://www.spyflight.co.uk/aqm34g.htm http://www.fas.org/irp/program/collect/firebee_2.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Firebee (very limitated info) http://www.vectorsite.net/twuav_02.html#m1 And more information published in old books and air encyclopedias ... I remember reading about strike missions with weapons in Vietnam War, but I don't find it now ... And I see now the Quail is in the DataBase, but the Firebee not !!! (I know an air launched UAV is a complex matter)
  10. Is more workload in the databases, but very good the news about the air to air guns.
  11. 800 x 600 with 32 bit color on a 15" Asus portable machine. 1024 x 600 with 32 bit color on 10,1" Asus Netbook.
  12. Ok, thanks, I've not open the America's DB, I was fantasizing about a SS with a suitcase nuke ...
  13. I'm not sure of this request, or if this type of vessel worth a request, only to comment the well know existence of drug smugglers semi-submersibles, in this times of littoral warfare and low-tech menaces. May be with a nuclear suitcase ..... http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htsub/art...s/20090626.aspx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narco_submarine http://media.mcclatchydc.com/smedia/2008/0...ffiliate.91.pdf
  14. Sorry by the wrong thread. Yes, I see now, 1999 not was an IOC date, I must revise my sources ......
  15. mmm.... this issue remembers me, the japanese AAM-4 (Type 99) (entry 18574) is flagged in the HCDB as ""Semi-active guidance", when is a Active Radar missile. Is embarrasing to play Westpac scenarios if you don't change the entry in the database Very scarce data in Internet, I don't find now the reference, but IOC was 1999. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_AAM-4 http://www.janes.com/extracts/extract/jalw/jalw3021.html http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/missile/row/aam-4.htm http://www.mod.go.jp/e/data/data04.html sites in Japanese language, I've half-readed it with the help of Babelfish: http://www.geocities.co.jp/Technopolis-Mars/9578/AAM-4.html http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/AAM-4 In the first site a lot of data .... in japanese, where I almost understand those highlights: first, the advantages of Active Radar Guidance against SAR, the AAM-4 is also with inertial and mid-course guidance/datalink (to add to the HCDB), a big warhead to defeat cruise missiles, missile testing was placed in "Gifu research institute. Furthermore the hot place is G air space (the Komatsu open sea), (perhaps area R141)", a detailed report about testing shots, the great ECCM capalities of the AAM-4, the production costs are going down with the mass production, and, "new ship-based SAM (XRIM-4) development is done shortly in the Technical Research and Development Institute there is a story) and AAM-4 as a succession of the RIM-7M sea sparrow", In the japanese wiki I almost understand too there's a improved variant of AAM-4 developed from 2002 (and fielded in 2008 says the precedente web site), I think I've read in the Babelfish semi-english
  16. Hybrid Sailors ??? Cyborg Sailors ??? Transgender Sailors ??? I fear of these typus of language and words, applied to tasks of great responsabilty, like the task of the navy, yes, I fear also the named "revolutionary" word applied to military, goverment, public administration, and civil servants (like I !!!)
  17. only guessing, without data nor references: SR-71 in crates ?
  18. In the last HCDB I see the code snap up/down fixed to the missiles Fajr-5 and Zelzal 2. For years I was thinking the snap up/down code was for air-to-air missiles, and also ineffective in PC game terms. Now I see it related with, I suppose, a capability of ballistic/near vertical attack. The questions are: At what capability is related the code "snap up/down" ? Is really effective in PC game terms ? Thanks.
  19. In the last version of the HCDB I see some AS radars, as they of Su-15 and CF-101B are labeled as RO radars and not as AS radars, and both with a reasonable high range. Is a mishap, or the label RO is not "Range Only" radar ?
  20. I only hope the engineering quality control of LCS will be better than in LPD-17 San Antonio
  21. That's for me the only question with easy answer: "no"
  22. broncepulido replied to kcdusk's topic in General
Yes for Flight Leader, and yes for its PC version, Flight Commander 2.
  23. I think every target, armoured or not, can be killed with the sufficient amount of ordnance, at least in relation a game rules. Big and well armoured ships, as BC Seydlitz (22 heavy shells received in Jutland, near sunk) or BB Bismarck (near 28 heavy shells received), can be historically sunked with the sufficient amount of ordnance. In my own database, I trade amount of armour and armour type for more damage points. I think a bunker may be modelled in a similar way, with more damage points reflecting his armour, and his level of "undergroundness". At least, if we can't count with realistic armour and penetration values in the computer game.
  24. In my own database, the in-service dates for EKA-3B Skywarrior is 1968-1975. http://home.att.net/~jbaugher4/newa3.html But EA-3B was in service from 1959.
  25. Yes, for the same sake, in my own database, I do this equivalence in the aircraft's flags: RWR = RWR ESM level 1 = RWR ESM level 2 = ESM (without RWR) ESM level 3 = ESM + RWR
