I'm tinkering with the platform editor at the moment and have a few questions about the way fuel consumption works. As I understand it you set the range for particular loadouts. So what is the significance of the range figure in the aircraft description form. Is that just for reference? Also what is the significance of the fuel entry? Surely the fuel consumption etc. is modelled simply as range? Thanks Paragon

I've been looking at the HCDB and specificly at the magazine/turret relationship of the Iowa BBs. On the turrets I notice that they each hold enough rounds that when combined with the magazines which hold 255 rounds, you have the total needed for each turret. Here's where I have a problem with that. If I remember correctly the magazines supply ALL the mounts of the same type. In other words, even if the front two turrets are blown up, the ship will continue to use the ammo supplied by all three magazines. That being said, I find it hard to believe you're going to be running 2700lb shells from one end of the boat to the other. Wouldn't it make more sense to place…

This is in the weapons database. I found that on all of them while going through the DB today. Is there a reason behind this? Checked Malafon, ASROC w/MK46, etc. Curious as to if this affects whether they work or not. Might explain why mine never seem to hit anything. LOL

File Name: HCStrikerFictDB File Submitter: TonyE File Submitted: 05 Mar 2007 File Category: Databases Database Description: This database is not intended to reflect reality, it is a collection of my own imaginary platforms and those of the people around me. There will be many versions of one of my favorite planes, the F-14, and my favorite ships, Iowa class Battleships. Please contact sysop@tgp.net with suggestions. *NOTE - The EC2003 & WestPac battleset scenarios will not work with this database, only scenarios written for this database will function. As consequence of some post interchanged with Brad the other day, I've make a chart about the plane carrying capacity of a great number of Aircraft Carriers and other plane-capable ships. First, some comments about it and the numerical values in the attached file. Basically, as commented a few days ago, I've detected some incongruence in HCE/HUCE Databases, I think now the problem comes from the paper rules and from his application to Computer Harpoon and his DBs. In the paper rules it's not the numerical limitation of the Computer Harpoon database, and a player can research in naval books and do changes in plane capacity as result, it's only a pencil and pap…

Some considerations about the MiG-31 Foxhound and his variants, after the latest news of the March 2012 issue of Air International, and the book MiG-31 - Famous Russian Aircraft, by Yefim Gordon, Ian Allan – Midland 2005: The MiG-31M Foxhound-B development ceased near 1997 (for the english version of the Wikipedia and other books or sites the MiG-31M is confused with other variant or variants of MiG-31, and erroneouly stated as “in service”, and equipped with in service K-37 missiles). The MiG-31M Foxhound is a new airframe with six supports for big AAM in the underbelly, the other variants have only four supports. The K-37/AA-X-13 Arrow development ceased als…

File Name: HC_EURO_DB File Submitter: divefreak File Submitted: 10 Mar 2007 File Category: Databases EURO_DB is no longer focused on GIUK/Atlantique Ocean/Mediteranean only, it is now merged with the Atlantic DB and it covers the whole World except the Westpac Area due to Space Limitations (County Names). It is a worldwide DB for the period from around 1975-2008. The main difference is the changed philosophy for base structure. All long range weapons (SAM/SSM) will be removed from Harbours/Airbases. So a Scen-Writer has to add mobile Units to replace the SAMs with improved design posibilities. Fixed SAM will only provided by AD-Fixed existing in Reality or have e…

Are these the launch parameters or are they the altitudes the weapon travels at? I'm asking because I'm having trouble understanding why a AGM-84E SLAM can only be launched at VLOW altitude...when I've seen footage of them being launched at atleast High.

I didn't dig too deeply into it but I couldn't load Australian Seahawks or Seasprites onto the ANZAC or OHP frigates. Is the size set too large?

Question: If you install this Database does it screw anything else up (Other Databases) or you can switch back and forth. I know it stalls a new Common file, what does that affect? Thanks

File Name: HCBlankDB File Submitter: TonyE File Submitted: 09 Mar 2007 File Category: Databases A database from which to start your own database. Note: This database is provided as a framework for creating a new database from scratch. There are sample entries as needed for the PE, GE, and SE to function. The sample entries may be changed to suit your needs but they should not be deleted. The EC2003 and WestPac built-in scenarios will not work with this database. A sample scenario is included just to show that the blank DB doesn't crash the game. 2008/11/29 Filled in the list of loadout types for GE 2008.062+ as per http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?…

I'm about to upgrade the PE format from Access 97 to Access 2003 (so that it can be opened with Access 2003-2016 instead of the current Access 97 - 2010). Does anyone have big complaints about this? For those hanging on to Office 97 and 2000 you should be able to install a newer MS Access runtime (*free).

I'm probably going to regret this, but... Is there a way of creating a scenario-specific database in the EC2003 battleset? Here's the short version. There's a HDSIII IOPG user scenario called "Sea Orbit '65" involving the CVN Enterprise's nuclear task force back in the 60's. Because of the limitations of this battleset, there are no carrier-based F4s or A4s available, nor is the SSN Triton. What I would like to do is create a 1965 database of the appropriatly armed USN ships and aircraft, and some slightly over-the-top units belonging to SMERSH or SPECTRE or even Dr. Evil's minions. The end result would be a small database of maybe couple dozen ships, subs and airc…

Brad, Thanks for the newest version of the HCDB. Quick questions and requests (for the next version)... As far as I can tell, the F-35 JSF cannot attack ships. All of its strike loadouts are for land targets (some of them say SURF in the scenario editor but when I play the test scenario they switch over to LAND). Is this correct? Can you add the Spanish S-80 class submarines? (listed on the HazeGray site) Can you add the Mi-8 helicopter (carries troops and can be armed with rockets, etc.)...used by many armed forces around the world see http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/row/mi-8.htm Since you've added the British CVs, could you add a C…

I have a few questions about the DB and please excuse my ignorance on the subject, Ive been away from harpoon for several years now. I'm currently putting together some scenarios in the westpac battleset and I'm running into a few problems. I am trying to construct the scenarios reasonably realistically, Some of it is hypothetical but I'm not doing things like giving Singapore an aircraft carrier but I am using platforms that won't be in service until the 2015-2020 time frame. The problem is the huge buildup in forces in the area. When I look up some ships, I find several variations of the same hull being used and the DB doesn't include all of them. Some of the variations…

OK, I've installed the newest version of the beta, followed the on-site instructions to the letter, and when I try to open anying, the Access DB crashes to desktop. OK, I am using Access 2000. And I did not install the old run-time library, but from the instructions it didn't seem necessary. Anyone have ideas? I can give more info if needed. I am completely stumped on this one.

For database purposes, is there any differences in using a Block10/20 Global Hawk versus a separate BAMS entry? From what I can tell, it's a navalized G-Hawk, but no distinct differences jump out at me. I have an HoA scenario almost 90% done, but just wanted to eke out as much authenticity as possible. Thanks
