Platform Editor Woes

Featured Replies

OK, I've installed the newest version of the beta, followed the on-site instructions to the letter, and when I try to open anying, the Access DB crashes to desktop.

OK, I am using Access 2000. And I did not install the old run-time library, but from the instructions it didn't seem necessary. Anyone have ideas?

I can give more info if needed. I am completely stumped on this one.

OK, I figured it out. Sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to track down.

Seems I was using a newer version of Access than the DB used. Because of that, I needed to convert pfbuild2002.mdb (even though Access2000 was opening it, it could open, but attempting to read caused a crash), before I could successfully use the editor.

Thought I'd post that tidbit in case anyone else runs into a similar problem.

hmm, that shouldn't actually be a problem. I've used the editor in Access 97, 2000, XP, and 2003 and haven't had to convert the format in any of them (I always open and accept the read-only status, meaning only that you can't modify the editor but you can modify platforms). I'm glad it works now for you though :). Thank you for posting that it is working, was scratching my head here wondering what to ask next.

Well it wasn't even giving me a read only option. I'm guessing it was only partially opening the file, then if I tried to click on anything it would cause it to crash. So I went down the list of things to do and decided that trying to convert the file was preferrable to reinstalling Access (which was my next, and last, option). I'm just glad it worked. :D
