DarkNite has provided a scenario for which he would like some testing and feedback. Its for the EC2003 GIUK battleset and requires HCDB-080326. Please take DarkNite's scenario for a spin and let me know if you have problems, issues, thoughts, opinions, whatever. The scenario is NOT ready for release, so please do not distribute it. This scenario, 'The Origin of Storms', is for play by BLUE in the EC2003 GIUK Battleset. The original intention of the scenario was to examine in part which new fighter aircraft would be best for Norway, the F-16, F-35 JSF or Eurofighter Typhoon. It subsequently evolved into something more than that. You will need the latest version of the HCDB, which I hope to upload in a few days. When I do, please take this scenario for a spin and let me know if you have problems, issues, thoughts, opinions, whatever. The scenario is NOT ready for release, so please do not distribute it. Updated scenario (following initial testing) has been uploaded here. Origin…

Tony and I were discussing this issue on IRC and it seems we may have some wiggle room in the code. Basically, we could probably create a rule in the code to deal with increased acoustic signatures when ships receive cumulative damage. The easiest way to implement such a rule would be to effect an increase in BSL values for every increase in value of the DP damage. For example, +2 BSL points for every 10 percent increase in damage. There might also be a different rule for submarines than for ships. This post is intended to provoke discussion on the topic, so please let us know what you think.

The latest release of the BS Builder is a welcome and long-awaited feature of Harpoon. I've noticed that on my system, I periodically get alerts that the program has "Stopped Working" or the famous "Not responding". Closing the alerts without acknowledging them seems to let the builder do its job OK. I was wondering if this is a widespread problem, or just another in a long list of Vista annoyances. Buddha

Herman has started making entries in the Bug Tracker. In the 'forum options' of each Bug Tracker project you can set what kind of notification you want of new posts. There are a few unfiled bugs there that need verification. We also have two builds since the 2008.025 and no verification of the changes that I've claimed to have made. Please contribute or I'll have to get mean (or something). Yes, Brad and Rene are pretty much excused since they are hard at work with databases and scenarios. Thanks guys, I know testing specific items isn't very fun but it is one of the more important tasks for beta testers now that we have end users doing the normal playing of…

Now that HCE has been released, I have several under-construction-scenarios on the backburners that are being dusted off and polished up for release. This one, 'Serhiy's Decision', is for play by BLUE in the EC2003 Battle for the Mediterranean Battleset. This one examines the sudden split of the Black Sea Fleet between the Ukraine and Russia in early 1992, following the dissolution of the USSR. Please take it for a spin and let me know if you have problems, issues, thoughts, opinions, whatever. The scenario is NOT ready for release, so please do not distribute it. serhiy.zip

Please take it for a spin and let me know if you have problems, issues, thoughts, opinions, whatever. The scenario is NOT ready for release, so please do not distribute it. oubliette.zip

Due to recent upgrades to the forum software and components here at HarpGamer, the Bug Tracker referenced just under the HG logo has become useful for defect tracking. I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts are on just having one set of defects listed for HCE, all of them being in that single area. http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...p;showproject=6 Please explain your choice. With this change I think we'll stop making new entries into Mantis as the Bug Tracker is doing all of the key steps of Mantis. Thank you

HCE - 2008.024 ============== - Chg:0000 GE Fixed a buffer overflow in mini report caused by type being to long (ex. AD Mobile > 8 characters). (thanks Gopher) - Chg:0000 GE Fixed a lock-up/crash when list view columns are sized very small. The program was getting into an endless loop trying to shorten the text to display. (thanks Mack) http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?showtopic=2604 So... test making listview columns small, and click on AD Mobile groups.
