Scenario for HCE/Mediterranean: Serhiy's Decision

Featured Replies

Now that HCE has been released, I have several under-construction-scenarios on the backburners that are being dusted off and polished up for release.

This one, 'Serhiy's Decision', is for play by BLUE in the EC2003 Battle for the Mediterranean Battleset.

This one examines the sudden split of the Black Sea Fleet between the Ukraine and Russia in early 1992, following the dissolution of the USSR.

Please take it for a spin and let me know if you have problems, issues, thoughts, opinions, whatever.

The scenario is NOT ready for release, so please do not distribute it.

Hi Brad,

this is a "classical Brad scen": a run for time, only winnable by superior logistics. It reminds me of "Labyrinth".

Gave it two tries:

1st Run: My four transport ac with the Backfire crews were slaughtered before the destination airfield came into sight. Thus no Backfires - I resigned.

2nd Run: This time I covered the transporters with a cloud of fighters and thus all four made it to their destination. The crews entered their Backfires and soon launched. They had several Russian fighters on their six, but the beautiful bombers went on burner and all escaped. Now their are in Odessa and being refitted with their nastiest weapons. Meanwhile the other base and the installation are under massive pressure and I wonder if I should send some fighters out to help them.

The four ships are on their route at flank speed - but I´ll slow them down; certainly Brad will have put some subs between the ships and Odessa.

A great one, Brad!

I´ll report how it went.

Ralf

Hi Brad,

I´m in the middle of furious air-to-air, naval and sub to ship fights - great! That´s a hell of a scenario.

Few minutes ago I was surprised by the message that the Russians achieved total victory. I think it happened because those four ships I should transit to Odessa were sunk at last :(

Since I lost some forward installations at the same time I´m not sure what exactly it was.

I´ll now go on enjoying this excellent scen before I take a look at it into scenedit.

Thus there is one issue so far:

- Victory conditions: Are there minimal and total victory conditions for the Russian side? Why did the enemy reach total victory and not minimal victory first?

- Thus I think the VicCons should be clarified in the orders text

Ok, I´m through I think. My Backfires destroyed the two bases thus killing many ac on ground. Attached the loss count. It was a total defeat for me long before (compare last post), but this loss count shows how the forces dealt with each other.

Resume:

All in all a great scen. Just check the VCs again and maybe verify the orders thus it becomes clear which losses are critical, Brad.
