Hi all - After a 15 year hiatus, I've decided to get back to Harpoon - one of my all-time favorites. I have a couple of questions................ As I read several of the posts here at this forum, it seems that HCE is perhaps more bug-free compared to ANW. Is that a fair conclusion? Also, it sounds like one of the first things I should do upon purchase, is download the Players DB. Is this a fairly intuitive process? While poking around seeking to become more familiar with the platforms I happened to notice something peculiar. The data for sensors of a single ship are different depending on how you view the data. I have HCDB-120621 loaded and I'm looking at the DDG-1000 Zumwalt. I just purchased Harpoon Ultimate Edition, largely on the strength of http://www.simhq.com/_naval/naval_003a.html. Granted, that discusses an earlier version of the game, but the interface does not seem to have changed appreciably. Last night i had a chopper landing on my frigate and the target of an enemy SAM (sm-2 I think) and was delighted but surprised to see the information "point defense got 'em all". Looking at my weapon ammo i deduced it was the 3" otto gun that got the kill. I've previously seen in a similar situation where the chopper lands before impact the sam hits the ship so really a nice result. Unbelievable shooting, maybe.

Testing old scenarios to constate DB editor is going fine, remembers me an old question. In relation to the attached screenshot and the lines "DEBUG Downes FF1070 PointDefense Got'm all" , Downes FF1070 effectively has expended all its ammo firing at the incoming missiles, some have been shot down (or not!) others not and have sunk poor Downes. The questions are: - In the simulation, the Phalanx is shooting down the incoming missiles, or it's only applied its Point Defense Value, a value unknown to me? - The Point Defense Value has any relation with the mount field "Auto", what reads "1" in this concrete case? - If not, the mount field "Auto" is o…

For thise that don't scour Discord HC discussions a recent interesting concept came in about gaining points or awards for completing scenarios. Apparently this is something common in the gaming world so many will know about it. Its worth a little look at the discord recent posts of the last few days if you use the platform. Anyway it has me thinking about how this could be done (the structure is there to do it) and currently I'm thinking of issuing a score (by an unbiassed exportdll probably) according to some (not yet determined) formulae and string those scores for a player across related scenario strings eg a battleset. Hi, I have been using HUCE ( HC 2015.027 ) and things were working fine. I updated by downloading HC 2017.009 GESEDU. zip and executing the installer I downloaded HC 2016,003GEa. zip and executed the installer. If I use a battleset scenario everything is still fine. However, if I bring a battleset scenario into the editor ( Winscenedt32 ) and then save it ( with no changes ) it will not execute and I get the following message: " The requested scenario file requires a newer version of the game. This scenario is version 4 . This game supports through version 3. Exiting..." I am wondering if someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks, Smit…

Dear friends: After years I have reinstalled the HUE. But since I have another operating system, Windows 7 64, I am running into some problems. One of them, in HUCE, is the Staff officer window. I can't see all the information and I don't have access to the options it offered you. I've tried changing the desktop resolution, but nothing. It is the only defect that I find, the rest seems to be going well. Is there any solution? Sorry if this doesn't go here. Thanks.

I don't know what's been wrong, lately. I wiped my Windows install about a month & a half ago. After reinstalling HCE, some enemy groups do not show in the group window. It did that with the 2008.44 version, I reinstalled/repatched HCE and it was still doing it. I updated to v 2009.035 and still no help. All using 090427 DB. It's done it on a couple different battlesets. I have no idea what's going on but I don't recall it doing this a few months ago. My most recent example is the Serhiy scenario I'm going to upload the save for. It's user-created but that hasn't mattered as the stock ones are doing it, too. Anyway, there are a lot of ground &a…

Hello all, I have been playing Harpoon since Harpoon Classic 97 came out. I just got Harpoon Commander's Edition, and have been messing with the scenario editor. I have built a couple of scenarios, but I can't seem to get it to run when I load it on the game. I am not very experiened with modifying files or things like that, so I have not had the nerve to poke around the game files and possibly screw something up. I need help knowing exactly what to do from saving my scenario to getting it to run normally on the game. The HCE seems to be undergoing constant development and "repair", so my question is, are there "Service Packs" or other such updates available, and if so, what is the best procedure for keeping current with the fixes and upgrades? Currently, I can use only the Demo program (as I haven't yet been able to obtain the released full version). I see there are frequent updates to the Demo, although I guess the only way to get them is to check back here periodically?
