I am trying to bring my database date, but I am having trouble finding the append button on the editor.

There is no append button, you move to the first blank record and enter your data except for the AnnexID, that will be created for you. Note that you can only have 2048 items per annex so if you are editing HCDB for instance you can only edit installations, not add any new ones.

In the Ship Annex, under Names, just type the name and then press Enter to move on to the next one.
