May 10, 201115 yr Next build is ready, 2009.057... http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...ost&id=1272 One code change and a few logging additions. Thanks!
May 11, 201115 yr Author Okay. I didn't use the -f command this time. Was I supposed to do the -f command? Here goes: Logging begins. May 11, 201115 yr By the looks of the log there was no benefit to using -f to redirect the logging. 2009.058 is ready http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...ost&id=1273 2009.057 didn't help at all but 2009.058 will get us crawling forward again.

May 12, 201115 yr Very curious, you made it farther that time. 2009.059, http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...ost&id=1275 This one adds a flag to the dialog to give it a different look and it also a debug build so if you get a choice to debug it might give you some useful information (if it fails at the same point though I don't think it will). Thank you for the patience.
May 12, 201115 yr Not to interfere with the work ongoing in this thread, but kudos to Tony for taking the time to try and figure out what is obviously (even to the untrained eye) an odd one. You're in good hands, Akron.

Thank you for the patience. Okay. Will have something for you tonight or tomorrow. Don't thank me for the patience, let me thank you for the game I've been looking for ever since I finished Jane's Fleet command!
May 16, 201115 yr An additional somewhat random data point would be to try running the game in safe mode and see if you have the same crash (I assume you will).
May 18, 201115 yr Author Okay. I have not tried the Safe Mode idea yet. This thing doesn't boot quick, but I'll try it soon. As a side note, is there a command line option to open a saved game? Running that latest debug build, I got the below. Logging begins. Build Date = May 12 2011, Build Time=08:22:36 0 harpoon.c:732 - done processing arguments. May 20, 201115 yr As a side note, is there a command line option to open a saved game? Yes, you can specify a saved game on the command line, example: winharp32.exe -v "C:\Games\HCDemo\Test.USNI-hp1" I dare say that may be your best bet for now too. You can get a little GUI help loading a save from the command line by using the launcher. http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...mp;showfile=445
May 22, 201115 yr 2009.061 is ready at http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?a...ost&id=1276 Note the zip file has both the winharp32.exe and a .dll file. The dll file needs to go in the ExportDLLs subdirectory. Try a File\Save As once the files are in place and report back. If Save As works, File\Open still won't. Please paste the ge.log file in its entirety. Thank you!
July 6, 201115 yr Author Tony, I figured it out. It turns out the problem was the ASUS Parental Controls that shipped on the default image for the ASUS eee 1005ha netbook. Took those off, now things work well. I've had to stop playing for a few weeks, as I ran into very serious problems with my small business in early June. Will probably buy the full game as soon as I'm sure my livelihood is through floundering.
July 6, 201115 yr I figured it out.It turns out the problem was the ASUS Parental Controls that shipped on the default image for the ASUS eee 1005ha netbook. Hooray! Thank you for reporting back and probably saving someone in the future some pain. You wouldn't happen to have the parental controls installer so that I can give them a try? Also happy that your livelihood shall not collapse.
July 7, 201115 yr Author I'm afraid my only instance of the Parental Controls is the one I get if I flatten and reload my system, so it wouldn't do you much good.
