2009.005 Release Notes
I'm seriously considering going back to 2008.068 actually. That or re-writing all of the targeting code from scratch since it is just wrong and hammering a square peg into a round hole just isn't working. Anyway, confirmed this behavior you are seeing. Otherwise so far I'm thinking 2009.005 is better than the other 2009.xxx builds so far. I'm not seeing the benefit of going back to 2009.004 at present.

Another Naval Brain Teaser Series
The part I cannot connect to the Kirov's is the death of namesake leading to the death's of millions. There is Peter the Great, but Catherine I wasn't exactly known for killing millions of people. Stalin came after Lenin but there is no Kirov class named after Lenin (at least that I know of). I want it to be one of the Kirovs though

Gaza
I pretty much feel like Buddha (except with a lot less knowledge about the Middle East). The other two people in the house here happen to agree (which isn't always the case) too. I also envision a lot of unrest if I say what I think...

HCE - 2009.005 ============== - Chg:0000 GE Second try at retargeting missiles fired at subs that are now submerged. http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?showtopic=2502 This will probably be the last build for a little while. We have to get a new demo build out in the next couple of days. I'm regretting opening the hornet's nest of attacking ships and subs in port. That is some of the toughest code and of course is pretty key to the game. It should have been left to the grand re-working but I may revamp it before then since I did stir up the hornet's nest.

2009.004 Release Notes
Yes, and I look forward to someone doing so. They are all here on HG in the beta area, a zip file I posted with 5 scens (TORPBRG.zip), Akula's test scen, now Wombat's.

2009.004 Release Notes
I'm marking this as testing complete but that doesn't mean you should stop exploring combinations of attacks as Wombat so skillfully did. We've got a nice little collection of test scens created now, last nice I was running thru 7 test cases each time I thought it was right, Wombat has added an 8th (attack against land units)

2009.004 Release Notes
I expect the subs are at the depth at which they joined the base formation. If they start initially in the formation they will be at the default depth for a sub (which should prove to be Intermed if the sea bottom allows)

HCE - 2009.004 ============== - Chg:0000 GE Fixed problem created in 2009.003 that prevented player from firing antiship missiles from ships against the target ships. Once again hit attacks from ships to everything hard, and from subs to everything hard. I'm interested to hear what you think. I see some good things and some maybe not so good things...

don't bother with this build, it has some issues...

2009.002 Release Notes
All of the debug GE's have had the logging enabled since HC2002. The difficulty came in it not working in release builds. See http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?showtopic=2364 for more on the logging.

2009.003 Release Notes
HCE - 2009.003 ============== - Chg:0000 GE More improvements to player sub attacking submarines in port. Same deal for subs attacking ships in port. (thanks Akula) despite the short release notes there were quite a few changes. Note that subs vs installations now act a bit differently than ships vs installations. The general idea would be to re-test with the test scens of late.

HCE Demo Discussion Thread
Before it gets totally lost in the discussion, yes, at times the player has to manually fly around to plink targets in an enemy installation's formation. The data structures of the game just don't allow for nice automated treatment of some of the situations that arise (fighting it in the betas right now). Sometimes you have to fly your planes manually to a position where they can fire missiles against an embedded mobile SAM or other unit before you can fire (i.e. no prompt to close and attack).

2009.002 Release Notes
Now I can attack the port itself with missiles when the sub and port are both detected. However I can no longer fire on the submarine at all. fwiw (probably not worth much) you can't fire at the sub because it is out of your weapons range. I'm not sure we can do anything about this one but I'll take a look. It worked for me in my test scen since the enemy sub was in range of my torps.

HCE - 2009.002 ============== - Chg:0000 GE Planes can fire BOL again. (thanks Rene) - Chg:0000 GE Logging will really work in Release builds this time around, no kidding, unlike the previous however many times! - Chg:0000 GE Fixed inability of planes to change intercept targets. - Chg:0000 GE Fixed issue where player sub could attack submarine in port formation but sub could not fire TLAM at the port. That is a release build that you should use to make sure logging really works. We've already sent out two patches where we said logging would work and it didn't in either, let's not make it three in a row!

Defect Name: AS-4 attacking submarines
When you are playing a scenario, Ctrl-Alt-s will toggle the show all units cheat on or off. It may affect game mechanics to a minor extent but it can be extremely helpful chasing down problems, testing scenarios, etc.
-
Defect: Errant "Out Of Torpedoes" message.
confirmed in 2009.001
-
Defect Name: AS-4 attacking submarines
That's what we get for fixin stuff On a related note, I wouldn't be surprised if Herman has already reported the within minimum range part, I just don't know off the top of my head if it is already out there.

Defect Name: AS-4 attacking submarines
Nice work on the test scenario. Here is how I interpret it... 1. The errant message about torpedos is unrelated to this defect report and it due to the Blinder trying (and succeeding) to fire from within the AS-4 minimum range. Ideally you will split that out into two new reports, one for being allowed to fire a missile within minimum range and a second for the torpedo message. 2. The missiles do not acquire another target after the sub submerges because there are no other targets within the search bearing of the missile (22.5 degrees to either side of the missile heading, the ship is very far outside that search cone). To more properly test this part of the fix you could put a ship on the same bearing from Keflavik as the sub you are attacking but a couple nm farther out. So at present you found two additional issues, confirmed the AS-4 can be launched against surfaced subs, and have insufficient evidence of reacquisition not working (though you wouldn't have known about the seeker search cone).
