after seraching around, i found intersitings infos about iranians airfields and it seems that HCDB should be updated a bit. Here are the mods: Sources: http://worldaerodata.com/countries/Iran.php http://www.fallingrain.com/world/IR/airports.html http://www.scramble.nl/ir.htm http://globalsecurity.org/military/world/iran/airfield.htm

What is exactly "area" ECM? because, AFAIK, Type-D, FLIR and Laser (Sub-Type) pods aren't functionnal at all. In fact, what is a "Type-D" pod? About "sensor flags" in the aircraft annex, FLIR allow to detect ships but not planes and IRST detect aircrafts not ships, isn't the opposed IRL? Thx, Jan

  3. About the County class destroyers and the Sea Slug missile, my results about the ships missile-carrying capacity, after a long afternoon of research motivated by the contradictory data about the topic: Originally envisaged to carry 18 or 20 missiles, but magazine enlarged before the ship building. The ships were equipped with: Sea Slug load=24 on the first THREE ships, of them 8 ready to fire (unknown missile-readying time). Sea Slug load=39 on the later FIVE ships, of them 6 ready to fire (unknown missile-readying time). 30 seconds time cycle for two missile salvoes obtained of the 8/6 missiles in the ready to use compartment, beyond the magazine and …

Divefreak has requested an increase to the number of runway sizes in the DB structure and perhaps more importantly to actually include them in the import/export process so that they flow from the PE to the commondb.res and back. This is not a trivial change in terms of level of effort but it is a similar pattern to what we have done in the last couple of months with increasing the number of country names and aircraft types. Level of programming effort for the PE <-> commondb.res changes: ~20 hours Level of programming effort to modify the game logic to understand and use more runway sizes: TBD (research will take ~1 hour) To put the pro…

Greetings, Is there any chance the naval inventories of smaller forces can be added to the HUCE database? These forces would help to fleshout the South America, Sub-Saharan Africa and the smaller forces in the GUIK and WestPac battlesets. Adding these smaller units would make generating a broader range of scenarios possible. If numbers and names need to be plugged into an Excel spreadsheet to be incorporated into the DB, send me a template of the Excel workbook and I'b be more than happy to plug int the numbers and text to help the community in developing a better gaming experience. Best regards!

I'm returning to HCE after sometime away - I had created a new database and still have the res and rsr files but lost everything else in a hard drive failure - how do I access the data to start modifying it again. Sorry for the bone question but old age is setting in. [CV32: Edited your title to help others in a similar dilemma to more easily find the subject matter of your thread]

Chatting on IRC yesterday, I was told that the maximum number of installations is 2067. This leads me to wonder what the maximum number of installations is for the other categories might be. If it is listed somewhere, just point me in the right direction. Akmatov

I was hoping that Harpoon Ultimate would have changed JDAMS from missiles to bombs since its not really a missile. Is their a reason for this?

I would like to know how to change or add a picture to a unit file. I would love to add realistic jpg's to my units. Is this possible? Somebody please tell me how. Thanks Keith

While working on those EC2003 Giuk scenarios I've noticed, that for some reason you can't put F-35A on CV Mitchel. I know Mitchell is a "what-if" platform, but when F-15E or F-117 can operate from it and F-35A cannot, it seems illogical. In Platform Editor F-117 has a runway class "Small Aircaft", F-15E - "Large Aircraft" and F-35A - "Small Aircaft". CV Mitchel has a runway class "VLarge Aircraft" - so F-35A should be fit, just like F-35B and F-35C.

Hello all I'm a newbie at editing Harpoon CE, so far I've succeeded in putting new graphics, add new ship class, a new plane type and stuff like that. The problem is when I try to add a new weapon, in this case the AA-3 anab for my new entry, the Su-15 flagon F, even if I add it in the DB and I create a new loadout entry accordingly, when I go ind the SE, the loadout entry appears but not the missiles associate with it. When I try to set up entry in the weapons tab of the PE, I let it generate the ID number, but nothing work. whay am I doing wrong ?

Actually just one today. I am trying to figure out the fuel category. This one eludes me, as I can't seem to come up with how that number is figured or what units of measure are used on it. It seems that when I check sourses against the existing DB, none of the figures I am using is matching the number in the slot for that AC. Now this could mean my sources are not entirely correct, or that I am making a calculation error or its even possible that I am totally clueless (actually a high percentage chance on the latter) . Is there an easy explanation and I have just completely missed it?

I know the official database (Brad's HCDB-xxxxxx) is maintained so as to be workable with old scenarios written on any of its predecessors, and with all else being as is this is necessary but I have this following thought (collection of thoughts). The most recent battlesets' built in scenarios (say in EC2003 family of battlesets) are getting old. In some future release/patch/upgrade I see a need for perhaps post 2010 era scenarios built in to battlesets. Also some of the battlesets have no built in scenarios and these ideally should have some. The official database is filling up the loadout annex space, it has some entries included as workarounds that are now unnecessar…

I am sorry for asking again, but my last question is whether exists a set of scenarios or campaigns about the Vietnam War, in particular i am interesting in Rolling Thunder campaign and operations LB I&II. Thank you.

Brad, just working on two new HCE scens, one using the HCDB. Browsing through the units I stumbled over the SU-33. There is a loadout where it carries 14 misslies - 12 Adder and 2 Archer. I knew that this bird can carry a large load, but thought the limit is 10 missiles. Have I missed something? Regards, Ralf

The other day (while washing dishes) I wondered about how far back reverse compatibility of Data Bases is necessary. Does a current database need to be reverse compatible to before the last commercial full release? The 'new' (post EC2003) battlesets that use external databses have now been around for quite some time. When a new release appears necessary databases for the older scenarios could perhaps be provided separately in a 'legacy' section or the like. At some stage we might see built in scenarios from the WWs or cold war period so some way of organising multiple databases would need to be built into the setup anyway. If at every commercial release the data base co…

Not an important matter, but can the pfbuild2005.mdb be used in a sub folder and import/export the commondb.res file to that sub folder instead of the HUCE root folder. I've tried but can't get it to work, I just would prefer to leave the commondb files alone in the root folder. Don Thomas

Dear Brad, I am re-posting this here as per your request. Thanks. Mark -----cut here----- Quick requests for the next version, when you have time... * Danish, South Korean, Dutch, and Norwegian versions of the Lynx (or revised descriptions of existing versions so folks know which ones to use...I don't mind if the Dutch use the German version, or whatever, but I simply don't know which ones to use.) Thanks for adding the Series 300 Super Lynx. * The Italian Cavour is still listing space for only 12 aircraft; this seems low for a ship that's as big as a Tawara-class (also, one time trying to add aircraft to it caused the scenario editor to …
