HCStrikerFictDB-060703 Database Description: This database is not intended to reflect reality, it is a collection of my own imaginary platforms and those of the people around me. There will be many versions of one of my favorite planes, the F-14, and my favorite ships, Iowa class Battleships. Please post to the HCStrikerFictDB Requests thread on the HarpGamer forums with suggestions. *NOTE - The EC2003 & WestPac battleset scenarios will not work with this database, only scenarios written for this database will function. Hi Gents, I would like to probe into the world of DB creation.. I know we already have several outstanding DBs from Brad and Rene available. But I would love to be able to understand what you clever folks have to go through in order to create such excellent quality DBs. I would like to start by building one specifically for the GIUK theatre of operations as that is the area im quite interested in, no two guesses as to why, or prizes for that matter lol Are there any guides available that I can get hold of? I am a complete moron when it comes to the PE and find it quite daunting so I wondered if there was any good reference material for such. Also when you …

I was prowling through the HCDB 080406 sensor annex today, and discovered that the APQ-181 radar in the B-2 is shown with a detection probability of only 20%. Is that correct, and if so, why? Thx ...

This is in the weapons database. I found that on all of them while going through the DB today. Is there a reason behind this? Checked Malafon, ASROC w/MK46, etc. Curious as to if this affects whether they work or not. Might explain why mine never seem to hit anything. LOL

While working on those EC2003 Giuk scenarios I've noticed, that for some reason you can't put F-35A on CV Mitchel. I know Mitchell is a "what-if" platform, but when F-15E or F-117 can operate from it and F-35A cannot, it seems illogical. In Platform Editor F-117 has a runway class "Small Aircaft", F-15E - "Large Aircraft" and F-35A - "Small Aircaft". CV Mitchel has a runway class "VLarge Aircraft" - so F-35A should be fit, just like F-35B and F-35C.

The other day (while washing dishes) I wondered about how far back reverse compatibility of Data Bases is necessary. Does a current database need to be reverse compatible to before the last commercial full release? The 'new' (post EC2003) battlesets that use external databses have now been around for quite some time. When a new release appears necessary databases for the older scenarios could perhaps be provided separately in a 'legacy' section or the like. At some stage we might see built in scenarios from the WWs or cold war period so some way of organising multiple databases would need to be built into the setup anyway. If at every commercial release the data base co…

  12. Started by Tarawa565,

I was looking at the Strategic Defense Intelligence site and came across these three articles: http://www.strategicdefenceintelligence.co...hvi_II_missile/ This one appears to just be a range increase over the one already in the DB. http://www.strategicdefenceintelligence.co...dified_cockpit/ This appears to be a typo (helicopter?) but I did some more research and I believe its about this aircraft: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/india/lca.htm I looked in the in game platform display but didn't see it in there. And last: http://www.strategicdefenceintelligence.co...vladimir_putin/ Not a very informative article but an intersting platform IMO…

For database purposes, is there any differences in using a Block10/20 Global Hawk versus a separate BAMS entry? From what I can tell, it's a navalized G-Hawk, but no distinct differences jump out at me. I have an HoA scenario almost 90% done, but just wanted to eke out as much authenticity as possible. Thanks

  16. Ok. If I understand this correctly - essentially the commondb.res is the database for weapons/sensors/platforms (ships/subs/airplanes) and bases. AS I recall somewhere there is an application that will convert the file (commondb.res) into either Microsoft Excel or Access Database format - a little easier for viewing and analysis. What is the application that I am thinking about? Should it already be on my computer with Install of harpoon - or where is it located within the HARPGAMER site. thanks in advance

I put the Zumwalt through a few tests to check her sea legs using HCDB-080326 which generated a few observations: o Why a max cruise speed of 18 kts instead of 19 kts? Is this associated with her drive-type? o Why are the 155mm/62 AGS LRLAP rounds modeled as missiles? o Why does the 57mm/70 Mk110 ppq mount have 16 bursts but the 57mm/70 M110 ssq mount have 255 bursts? o The game allows me to use gunfire against a target for which I had a bearing-only, area detection (using sonar). I did not hit while the detection box was big but did when it became near-exact. o She's very stealthy. Thanks, Brad! DN

I'm hoping user error, but haven't found it yet so I thought I'd ask if anyone else is having PE export problems resulting in bad allocation of countries to platforms and some platforms having no country. It is a problem I've seen before but can't remember the detail of cause and fix. I also had a recent OS update and think it occured since my last good PE export Don

Of interest for databases, at current times (12/2022) only the US and Australian F-35 are equipped with the ALE-70 active towed decoy (and flares, as F-35 apparently has not chaff decoys): https://theaviationist.com/2022/11/29/take-a-look-at-these-photos-of-an-f-35-flying-with-the-ale-70-towed-decoy-door-open/ About no chaff on F-35: https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/27185/f-35s-most-sinister-capability-are-towed-decoys-that-unreel-from-inside-its-stealthy-skin
