Some considerations about the MiG-31 Foxhound and his variants, after the latest news of the March 2012 issue of Air International, and the book MiG-31 - Famous Russian Aircraft, by Yefim Gordon, Ian Allan – Midland 2005: The MiG-31M Foxhound-B development ceased near 1997 (for the english version of the Wikipedia and other books or sites the MiG-31M is confused with other variant or variants of MiG-31, and erroneouly stated as “in service”, and equipped with in service K-37 missiles). The MiG-31M Foxhound is a new airframe with six supports for big AAM in the underbelly, the other variants have only four supports. The K-37/AA-X-13 Arrow development ceased als…

I notice that Kadena AFB on Okinawa is missing from the West Pac battle set. As one of the pillars of the PACAF I hope its' added to the final CE release. I can use a generic AB for it but it's just a matter of principle :>... Is this a function of the platform DB or are bases handled in another way? Thanks!

Hi, there´s a new db out for HCG2004. It is focused on GIUK/Atlantique Ocean/Mediteranean. IOPG is also supported but only very limited and it is not sure that this theater will be supported in the future. It is a regional DB for the period from around 1975-2005. The db is still in a BETA state! So please feel free to report all errors/wishes/hints/etc to the author (me). Get it here: http://www.harpgamer.com/databases/HC_EURODB-050306.zip The main difference is the changed philosophy for base structure. All long range weapons (SAM/SSM) will be removed from Habours/Airbases. So a Scen-Writer has to add mobile Units to replace the SAMs with improved de…

DB Authors please read through: http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?/tracker/issue-134-problem-naming-individual-ships/?gopid=641&do=findComment&comment=641 It boils down to a suggestion that you add new ship and submarine names to the end of the list of names for the class so that scenarios built with an older version of your database will show the correct names when played with a newer version of the DB.

The Mark 54 was co-developed by Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems and the U.S. Navy under the U.S. Navy's Lightweight Hybrid Torpedo program in response to perceived problems with the extant Mark 50 and Mark 46 torpedoes. The Mk 50, having been developed to counter very high performance nuclear submarines such as the Soviet Alfa class, was seen as too expensive to use against relatively slow conventional submarines. The older Mk 46, designed for open-ocean use, performed poorly in the littoral areas, where the Navy envisioned itself likely to operate in the future. The Mk 54 was created by combining the homing portion of the Mk 50 and the warhead and propulsion sec…

We found out with the last couple of HCDB potential releases that the country names were not being imported correctly by the PE (Platform Editor). There is no problem exporting from the PE, just importing. The import does not error out but rather imports incorrect information for the higher numbered country names (has to do with a 1024 character limit so saying exactly where the problem shows up is difficult as it varies with each DB). For those of you MS Access fans, the import specification called bsStringsImport has a column set to a fixed length of 1024 characters. By modifying the import specification to 4096 characters it becomes more than wide enough to h…

Well according to the game's database, a South Korean Aeigis ship(?)(KDX-3 King Sejong) is a frigate(FF). But I want to say that, it is actually a Destroyer(DDG). Its weight is 7650 tons, there is no way to be the huge ship is a frigate (considering KDX-2 is a destroyer(DDG) which is lighter than KDX-3) http://blogfile.paran.com/BLOG_959842/2009...5283_kdx3-2.jpg Conclusion, can you guys change this little mistake and upload it as a next official database please?

The ASRAAM (Advanced Short Range Air-to-Air Missile), also known in US as the AIM-132, is a highly maneuverable heat-seeking short-range air-to-air missile produced by the United Kingdom’s MBDA corporation. It was developed in order to replace the aging AIM-9 Sidewinder. The ASRAAM entered service in 1998 and has since been deployed in at least one conflict. The ASRAAM’s effective 10 kg high-explosive fragmentation warhead can be triggered by either a proximity fuse or impact. It has a longer range and more powerful warhead than the US Sidewinder missile. It can be used on the F/A-18, Eurofighter, Typhoon, F-35. The ASRAAM can be used on any aircraft that can a…

Hello, I sent Tony a WestPac scenario I designed three years ago and following my own ideas concerning the problem. I think I finally managed to come close to the solution. Yesterday I experienced several crashes - outside the WestPac battleset. It was time to deinstall and reinstall. I installed the original HC 2002 Gold and patches up to 2003.16b8 (Jan 17th, 2005). Now all scenarios, including my WestPac scen Duel run just fine. Thus my whole HC Gold installation probably was corrupt. Next I installed the latest HCDB, but now i get crashes in scenedit again when I try to edit groups/bases - "...probably corrupt rsr - file." My questions: 1. Is that …

Hello, I am adding new weapons. Second, I add them to the loadout. But nor the scenario editor nor the game engine recognize the new weapon items. Why? What am I doing wrong?

Dear Brad, I am re-posting this here as per your request. Thanks. Mark -----cut here----- Quick requests for the next version, when you have time... * Danish, South Korean, Dutch, and Norwegian versions of the Lynx (or revised descriptions of existing versions so folks know which ones to use...I don't mind if the Dutch use the German version, or whatever, but I simply don't know which ones to use.) Thanks for adding the Series 300 Super Lynx. * The Italian Cavour is still listing space for only 12 aircraft; this seems low for a ship that's as big as a Tawara-class (also, one time trying to add aircraft to it caused the scenario editor to …

For those who are using public beta versions, important note for when you upgrade your game engine! BEFORE you upgrade, note the location of the commondb.res file that you are using. This is especially important if you use the databases from harpgamer or one of your own custom databases. After you install the upgrade, start the game engine and click on the Battlesets button. Re-map the path back to the commondb.res. It should be in the same directory as your game engine. It's a little quirk that is still in the installer system.
