I noticed somewhere there's a hot key to the (new) "zero" time acceleration (pause, but can still use windows and issue orders etc) in the beta GEs. The hot key is alt ctrl P. In case you haven't noticed it it is very good for those hectic moments when you have been cruising along at high game speed but suddenly need the world to stop NOW. I wonder if it could be twiddled to work from the assistants advise box, you know the sort where he says, something like "every known missile is headed towards you, would you like to turn on your radar?" Hello, played some Harpoon Classic (1.58E) and noticed that the rings look like ellipses with the y axis being longer than the x axis. Is this intended or a bug? H3 suffers from the same effect and I wonder why. I'm playing with 4:3 screen. Can I fix this somehow? Greetings, Cabal

Partly because of the way I position the various Windows on my display, I have run into some apparently inconsistent behavior relating to the Windows automatically switching focus, or auto-centering, or auto-panning, so I'm curious if there is a way to avoid these undesired aspects. First, regarding auto-focusing: To make my Group and Unit Windows as large as possible, I have overlayed ("tiled") those two Windows. Just noticed that the World War DB is live and still being added to. But I am not noticing that there are any scenarios to be downloaded using it. Am I missing something? I am currently reading Shattered Sword, about the battle of Midway, and am wondering about using HCE to look at some WW2 actions. I'm assuming that HCE would not be especially useful for surface actions, but my interest is mainly carrier operations so it seems HCE might do just fine. If I were to put together a simple WW2 carrier scenario using the WWDB, how would I approach it as I assume there is no battle set for it. Ok. I got the Harpoon Signature Edition (HSE) converted from 5.25 floppy to 3.5 (CD) and it installed perfectly and runs great (15,000 frameskip) in DOSBox! I also have original boxed Designer Series I (HDSI) and II (HDSII) on 3.5 in floppy and they installed perfectly over the HSE. Haven't had time to tinker yet, but the HSE is v1.31se and the HDSII updates to v1.32a and also installs a "harp386.exe" that runs v1.386a. Not for sure the difference between v1.31se and v1.386a, but I did boot up both and the graphics on the v1.386a are sharper. I've been playing Harpoon on my Netbook and while it is playable it can bog down sometimes which I put down to the pretty poor 1.6Ghz Atom processor in my Compaq Netbook. I've been looking at "trading up" to an Acer Travelmate 8371 which has a 1.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor which is slower 1 core v 1 core but dual core is basically 2.8 Ghz, so I was wondering if Harpoon would actually utilise two cores?

Well, I'm back! ANW has pissed me off, so I'm back looking closely at HCE. I've been playing around with the download section getting some of the battlesets that include the very nice textured maps some of which are very dark. The game icons blend right in and are in effect invisible. Is it possible to modify the icon colors to make them visible ? I think this needs urgent attention. Regards, RedMike...out

Since everyone is screwing Tony, I figured I could too. Why do AI planes head north when their base is destroyed instead of looking for alternate airfields? BTW, is there a way to make a base more resilient?

Ladies & Gentlemen: I'm returning to Harpoon. Purchased Harpoon Ultimate Edition from Matrix. Had DVD shipped because of poor internet connection. Just installed on a new week old Windows 10 machine. Installation went find and the game is running. Checked the version # and it was 2009.050. So I conclude that I must run updates from Matrix website. Do I need to run the 10/10/13 V2009.097 update then run the 1/4/16 V2015.027 update? Or can I run just the 1/4/16 update (does it include the 10/10/13 update)?

Hello all, I have been playing Harpoon since Harpoon Classic 97 came out. I just got Harpoon Commander's Edition, and have been messing with the scenario editor. I have built a couple of scenarios, but I can't seem to get it to run when I load it on the game. I am not very experiened with modifying files or things like that, so I have not had the nerve to poke around the game files and possibly screw something up. I need help knowing exactly what to do from saving my scenario to getting it to run normally on the game. When I have tried to load my scenario in the past, it either came up with an error or came up with the map with no units in it. I like building giant ba…
