Hi Folks, Apologies for the cross-posting - I put this up at the MatrixGames forum, it was getting a lot of hits but no replies. guess all the action is now with HUE. In any case... It's been a while - I finally upgraded to a Win64 machine, only to realize afterwards that I don't have XP Mode (Home "Premium" - what exactly is premium about it???). Anyways, I'd like to continue running the HCE editor - I saw the guides here on using XPMode that comes with Pro, Ultimate, etc. Can anyone confirm that VMLite will do the same thing? Other options I haven't heard of? Appreciate the guidance. Thanks, -Armando

I'm working on upgrading on old scenario. A Red search aircraft has detected a Blue surface group, and visa versa. There are Red submarines in the area of the contact, but watching with the Cheat Key, it seems that they don't seem to make any kind of move to intercept but keep following thier pre-programed courses. Is this the proper behavior according to the programming, or is there something wrong with this scenario?

I'm a 41 year government employee and Harpoon player from "back in the day." I bought my first computer in 1990 and my first copy of Harpoon not long after that. I don't know how to create a saved game for this, but I'll report the observation, FWIW: It appears that some of the totals reported in the Status Report do not register correctly - or something. I've seen numbers that didn't "look right" in the past, but wasn't able to tell for sure because I typically don't keep my own tally of platforms damaged or destroyed. However, in a recent play of the BACKYARD II scenario from WestPac Battleset under 2009.042, I saw some stuff that definitely was not correct: At the end of the game, it reported 20 Red subs destroyed plus 4 Red subs damaged. On Ed Ladner's web page (I think) there are old links to "discussion" articles on HC weapons characteristics, tactics, theory, etc. I think that it would be a great boast to HCCE to see more like them, relevent and updated, like how to set victory conditions, how to set up the most basic scenario, how to plan a coordinated strike, how to take down a SA-10 battery, how to take out a CVBG, etc. What do you think you old salts? Hello Everyone, I'm an old GDW Harpoon miniatures gamer who made the jump to HCE. I have cleanly upgraded to the .044 version and it's working with all default scenarios. My problem is that I've downloaded a couple of Westpac scenarios here (like Sprat in the Spratleys) but I can't get them to load properly. What I did is I created a subdirectory inside the \Matrix Games\HCE\ folder and unzipped all the files there. I immediately noticed that Load User Scenario is looking for files that match a .sc? filter. Overriding the filter and forcing the file load results in a GE crash. Hello, Scenario Editor suddenly became accessible. It may have happened after on of the MS updates to WIN 7, but I'm only guessing as nothing else had been loaded. I have tried an un-install and re-install from the CD and from current download files, but no joy. Anybody have any ideas? Cheers

I just purchase HCCE from matrix games and I cannot access the scenario edito or the orders writing software on my windows vista laptop. Is there a work-around to this problem? best regards John

Question for the programmers: would it be possible to arrange things so that the detection range circles are displayed relative to the 'active' unit? eg A B-52 is the active (currently 'clicked on') unit, so the range circle of the Red Mainstay shows ~300 nm detection radius. I then click on a nearby F-22 escorting the B-52, and the range circle for the Mainstay drops to, I dunno, maybe 40 nm? It was a lot easier to guestimate the safe zones when aircraft were either 'large' or 'small' ...

Just wondering if all the other databases are compatible with HCUE that I've just bought, wanted to try the WW2 database and some of the scenarios. Secondly is there any easy way of swapping databases or is it easier to have maybe 2 installations? Also is the Commanders Ultimate Edition compatible with the beta versions, as in can I install them over the top or should I keep my HCE install for that?

(I apologize if this topic duplicates info found elsewhere... but I could't turn it up, so I'm asking here). The HCE seems to be undergoing constant development and "repair", so my question is, are there "Service Packs" or other such updates available, and if so, what is the best procedure for keeping current with the fixes and upgrades? Currently, I can use only the Demo program (as I haven't yet been able to obtain the released full version). I see there are frequent updates to the Demo, although I guess the only way to get them is to check back here periodically? Hi I'm new and I don't know how to rename this installations

Hey everyone, just upgraded from a 1680x1050 (22") monitor to a full HD 1920x1080 (24"), and I found that the Group and Unit Windows has some kind of lock/max size on it. Is this intentional/intended (perhaps a windows OS limitation)? I prefer to have a bigger Group window rather than Unit window. Not a big problem (it's already huge anyway), but just curious.

I've got the program installed and running, however it comes with the Scenario Editor, but no option during game installation or instructions for installing the wscenedt.exe file. Please help, Thanks.
