Welcome to the Harpoon Classic demo. This demo revisits a storied part of Harpoon's history via the USNI BattleSet. Pooners Brad, Tony, and Ralf, with the help of the beta testing team, have re-made the five original USNI scenarios. The scenarios take advantage of game capabilities added since the original USNI version of the game was released more than 20 years ago! Not only that, but the weapons of war more closely match the real-world weapons thanks to post Cold-War release of information and the hard work of Brad in the DB editing department. These are no longer easy, nor introductory, scenarios, be prepared! In addition to the ten USNI scenarios (there a…

Just wondering if all the other databases are compatible with HCUE that I've just bought, wanted to try the WW2 database and some of the scenarios. Secondly is there any easy way of swapping databases or is it easier to have maybe 2 installations? Also is the Commanders Ultimate Edition compatible with the beta versions, as in can I install them over the top or should I keep my HCE install for that?

Hello all, I am hoping you can help with a problem I am having. I have HC2002 and unfortunately I have not been able to complete a game without the game crashing. It seems to just lock up everytime and I have to use task manager to end the program. I haven't been able to pinpoint what event causes this crash as it happens at different times or events each game. I re-installed the game and am having the same problem. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Okay, I'm using the HCDB-080712. I've got a group of a dozen SV-22s squatting on top of an Akula which is running at 35 knots at Deep. I've got a rock-solid lock on Mr. Akula, both from sonobuoys and dipping sonar. Range is about a mile. I've fired off at least half a dozen Mk 50s, moving to bracket the sub as necessary. So WTF are the torps just sailing right past the sub as if they can't see it?!?!?!?!?!? Has the acquisition radius on the torps gotten screwed up again?

I don't know if the bug is in my head or the game so I thought I'd post here first. I had a scenario which included killing a SAM barge as a victory condition and while my first tests seem to work it later turned out that it didn't. In the scen editor, victory conditions command, I selected "ship" subtype "brg", but when I checked via the 'edit' it listed 'AAA'. Anyone know how I should do this? Don

While I was trying to break the SAM ROF this morning I came across something else of interest, so I experimented with it a bit too. The test scenario I was using for the SAM ROF consisted of AS-4 Kitchens being fired at a naval surface target. I couldn't get my CIWS/guns to fire at them during point defense. Initial database configuration: Phalanx - max alt = low and min alt = vlow AS-4 - max alt = vhigh and min alt = vhigh Altered database configuration: Changed Phalanx max alt from low to vhigh and now they do engage in point defense. Changed AS-4 to low and vlow, but Phalanx still will not engage. I would take from this that the max altitud…

This probably is two separate questions, but they are sort of opposite sides of the same coin, so: I've noticed from time to time that when I have a strike group attacking a base or surface target that consists of multiple units, if one of the units gets destroyed, the attacking group will "lose" its target and go to loiter - instead of continuing to attack other surface/ground units in the target group. I must then re-initiate the attack. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? A recent example of this was that I wanted to pick off the helos in an AI carrier group - to prevent it from detecting and destroying my nearby SAG. So, I launched several separate…

Are there cases where a tanker or tankers are not supposed to break off after completing re-fueling? I'm curious because most times, after completion of re-fueling, a dialog will appear asking whether to separate the tankers from the group... but sometimes, this dialog does not occur, and the tanker(s) remain attached to the group. I'm wondering whether this is a normal occurance, due to some special circumstances, or if it may be a bug that I should attempt to capture? I've had this happen every so often, but I don't see any particular difference from the cases where the tanker-separation dialog does appear, so I'm curious what may be the reason for this. (Inci…

File Name: SELaunch.zip File Submitter: donaldseadog File Submitted: 29 Apr 2012 File Category: Tools/Mods/Docs A basic tool that lets you set a custom database (for post EC2003 battlesets) and launch the scenario editor without having to swap the main folder database file or hand write shortcuts. Other settings such as selecting the battleset and existing scenario are also available. IT should be unzipped into the main HCE/HUCE folder. Edit: version1.2 A minor change so that the scenario editor select window defaults to the folder in which the program exist, so place the program in the same folder as the Scenario editor (default is the main harpoon folder) Also…

I saw a few years ago (and because a comment in the CMANO forum I recall it now) SSQ-77C (as passive omnidirectional sonobuoy) is stated on the manufacturer PDF as "convergence zone receive beam" capable. And probably should be more CZ capable sonobuoys. I think we should implement that capability on SSQ-77 and probably other sonobuoys. I see also VLAD states for Vertical-line Array DIFAR (a pity, it's not Vlad Tepes related! [ ] ) (I think also that capability should be one of the USSR demise causes, showing the Soviets the futility of his submarine force). Thoughts? http://traktoria.org/files/sonar/sonobuoy/AN_SSQ-77C_VLAD_Sonobuoy.pdf

Is it just me or did the forum's flash editor loose a feature recently, like since April? I'm pretty certain that earlier in reply posts I was able to split quoted text into separate paragraphs just by hitting enter on an empty row inside the quote. E.g. Now all I can do (if I want to reply in a nice formatted way) is copy the entire quote as many times as many comments I want to inject and delete the surplus parts of the quote from each segment. Here's something new to me, if you use your mouse wheel it changes the selected group or unit (if you're in the group or unit window) up and down (north and south I guess). I suppose I don't use the mouse for lots of stuff so maybe every one knows this but it was a hoot when I saw it.
