After Action Report *SPOILER ALERT* Using the surface group pre plotted course as my search zone I launched all my land based fixed wings into asw search patrols (using F3 formation tool) to cover most of my search zone concentrating in the eastern 2/3s. I used my land based helos to patrol the western 1/3 (or there abouts). All but four ship based asw helos were put into search sectors mid way out in the pre defined formation, and most of the frigates came out one ring to dash and creep about the formation. Using Enrique's tip I cranked up the time acceleration pulling it back when contacts were had. In my last but one command I got a severe reprimand for torpedoing a whale (lucky it was kept out of the papers) and the admiral of the court marshal pointed out the consequences of sinking a neutral submarine so this time around I made certain of all contacts before letting fly any fish. This did use up a lot of sonar buoys but it also meant that if I got a Red Contact I had plenty air units to pummel it. I generally prosecute each contact by sending in 3 - 4 air units hopefully including at least one of the fixed wing that carry the best sonar buoy. The P8s and the old Froggy 'Antiques' have beauties. I use a combination of direct 'attack' F1 commands, and plotting courses to the centre or selected part of the contact uncertainty area then use Toolbox ASW patrol to encircle the area. Once a solid contact proves an exact location of a confirmed enemy I again use the Toolbox 'cover' command to get on top of the quarry and either drop a torp or if I have fish out hunting then hover/loiter to maintain the fix. After a sink I'll usually set up another Toolbox ASW patrol around the victim looking for any possible friends. That's pretty quick, I noticed it a month or so back but only just got around to filing it. And I didn't even notice the shift key aspect.

The attached (zipped) example uses westpac battleset, HCDB 150929 database and GE 2022.0.0.4 open test scenario BadPatrolSector.scq, select blue base, open formation editor (F4) set an air patrol but when clicking the mouse to set the sector have it over the edge of the extreme perimeter of the formation pattern. You can get a selection that is a complete pie section including the inner circle (which is wrong). See the BadPatrolSector.jpg graphic for the effect you're after. Where the boxed air icon sits is where I clicked the mouse to set the patrol. Execute the formation. This will then be similar to the zipped saved game. In about 50 secs the game will freeze. Kind of not mentioned (hard to remember it all) but your tweaking of the GE Formation Editor when changing zoom levels is really good too in my opinion.

I think I'd dislike #2 and #3 as my brain is very used to the blue\red\neutral alphabet regime (although I never realised the neutral started with zero I thought it was letter O 😳). #3 I'm wary of as I'm prejudice against non alpha numerics but something like A1a wouldn't worry me. #1 seems quite reasonable and hardly any different to what we have. It should give enough extra names that the problem (I'm guessing) should never eventuate. So I'd vote for #1.

After Action Report *Spoiler Alert* Playing blue, An epic, I've never had so many submarines ! UNsure of what to expect I sent in my sole EW aircraft as a spotter positioned a bit out from enemy radar zones and simultaneously a small flight of bombers with long range standoff and decoy load outs. The coast looked pretty clear so I started with waves of decoy at each of the three closest enemy base and followed them shortly with long range standoff missiles. These got thru quite successfully so the second phase was similar but with larger striker numbers easily destroying the airfields and allowing free air space to commence the third phase of combing my subs intended routes for surface combatants, which were found. My subs were divided up into a couple of extra groups to more easily manage them and generally proceeded with the more competant out in front, by the time the large Surface Group was mostly damaged or sunk the three leading subs started to pick up the big missile subs (and smaller escorts) and picked them off with out seeing them fire a single torpedo. All in all I lost only my EW air unit due to getting a bit over confident. Thanks for the time in putting this together and posting. I see you have some others, so I'll hope to have a go with them soon Just a comment, generally scenarios are accompanied by the order files which can be produced using the Orderwriter program in the harpoon main folder, you link it to the scenario from within the orderwriter. The blue and red orders files and the scenario file are then packaged in a zip file and posted to the sub forum for the battleset, in this case GIUK. When posting there will be an area to quote the database used, in this case HCDB2 ......

For anyone interested in this (AI changing aircraft loadouts to suit threats) here is a small scenario I've been playing with. It's written with SE 2021.006 ( a version 6 SE) so I think it can be played with any GE 2020.008 or newer (but I can be wrong ) HCDB2 170909 database and 2003 medc battleset I use the 'see all' command ctrl-alt-s so I can look at landed enemy aircraft loadouts using f5 'ready' key. Play as Red side. At game start most aircraft air in ferry loadout. You can speed things up by using the auto run ctrl-alt-z key and time compression. Send out a few attacking planes now and again. A very interesting thing which seems to always happen is that the distant base sends out scalp land attack loadouts against the tankers, but of course they just 'get stuck' because they can't fire. There are also interesting occurrences of planes with short range AAW missiles only going after planes when long range AAW equiped planes are available, unnecessary carnage . I'm fairly sure the AI used to change enemy landed aircraft's loadouts on occasions in response to perceived threats/attack opportunities. Does this still happen does any one know. I'm trying an idea of reinforcing front line bases with aircraft part way thru a scenario but they seem to just sit in the new bases and not get used and I'm working on how to rectify this. Don

I think I've seen that too I'm currently seeing it in a large game and what I'm seeing is airgroups just seem to be stopping at 0 kts I think where they had a course change programed. I'm also seeing some crashing after an assertion failed warning so I'll start looking at some smaller scenarios to see if its still happening there. Don

With GE 2021.014 I used TonyE's test scenario UnitSpeedAltTest doing all the tests other than ship and submarine in fixed base formation and everything supposed to happen did, and things not supposed to happen didn't, so that looks like a win.

The right perspective is always important

I've written a test scenario and confirmed it there, posted in defect notices. I wonder how long this has been? I do recall a recent 'mega' scenario that surprised me at the finish that it had only gone for about 6 hous game time, it might have been 2 days 6 hours 😁
