Building on Mark Gellis' free idea giveaway thread, how about the following ... A scenario author builds a storyline and Red OOB. Potential players choose the player controlled Blue OOB and its disposition/posture from a list of available options. Scenario author completes the scenario based on their choices. Players play out the scenario, either for pure enjoyment or a friendly competition of sorts. Thoughts?

Sara's Day - a "How To" Guide for Achieving Victory in HCE. [spoilerS APPLY] Part 1. The Scenario 'Sara's Day' is scenario 3 in the HDS III MEDC/HDSB battleset. This scenario is legacy, and does not use the updated HCDB database. It is the fifth day of World War III, a conflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact (and their allied or client states) across the globe. Three days previous, the Soviets pummeled NATO partner Turkey into submission, seizing control of several airfields and installations intact, while a joint effort by Syria and Egypt (and supported by the USSR) exhausted the Israeli Defense Forces. A few survivors have escaped into Greece and Italy…

I 've just built a Gulf of Tonkin BS using the BS Builder, and now I'm trying my hand at designing some scenarios to go with it. I have to fess up that scenario construction has never been one of my greater skills. What I would like to do is place some structures ashore, defend them with SAM Sites, land based interceptors, etc, and then attempt to attack and destroy the structures with a CV Air Strike. The problem I have is that structures, SAM sites, etc. do not appear in the initial loading of the scenario, and must be detected by other means. Since launching a strike against structures like this presupposes the location of the target is permanent and known and …

Although I have years of experience with Harpoon (dating back to PNP days), I am a mere padawan when it comes to scenario design. I have toyed around with the thought, but lately have begun making notes concerning a series of scenarios. One issue I struggle with is using the mission clock in the design editor. Could one of our resident Jedi Masters provide some insights? Does the clock work on a scale of the hours in the scenario or does the mission clock trigger the event X-hours after the beginning of the scenario? Also, when you create your scenario, do you typically script a timelne for the engagement? I just want to design some realistic situations and not ove…

I'm not getting much help from the manual on this. After entering a leg or two, I hit Enter Alternate Path and get the "Enter Points for Alternate Path" showing in my dialog box. However, I can't click on the map or move my active waypoint selection via Prev or Next. I'm a little lost as to what to do on that step. I have a good grasp on the way it works, I just don't quite grasp what I need to do with the interface to get them in. I seriously need a primer on the flow of entering an alternate path. Thanks!

Easing back into Harpoon and want to set up some simple scenarios to experiment with the variious weapon systems. I'm using Clancey's RSR as a template for setting up Iceland as a Soviet base against which to conduce air attacks, which leads to a couple of questions: 1) As I see it the original four battlesets are the only ones that that include the Soviet Union, right? 2) The only way to adjust the weapon systems present at a base are via the Platform Editor, right? For example, as per RSR, I would like to add 4x SAM6 launchers, so I would have to go to the Platform Editor to do this - however, if I remember correctly that would not be possible for the orginal …

Although historically an ally of the US, Israel's participation in the war with UBAN was not one of acting in coalition, but rather in fighting for the survival of the nation. UBAN aggression was further encouraged and supported by the NSC and its client Yugoslavia. (Released November 2000). The war in the Med began with simultan…

File Name: Submarines Galore 1982 !!! File Submitter: broncepulido File Submitted: 05 Sep 2011 File Category: GIUK A submarine-only scenario without other diversions, inspired by some old scenario booklets of the Harpoon 3 series, good for testing submarines (specially the new ones of the HCDB-110831), submarine tactics, sonars, torpedoes and other ASW weapons. Perhaps the Western submarines are numerically over-represented, but it's reflecting the original and very reduced in number of submarines paper scenarios. Also it's configured as a vanilla scenario for lazy players wanting to enjoy a simple pastime, and with the aim of replayability thanks to the aleatority…

When I open the GE and load the user scenario playing the Blue Side the Background and Blue orders are displayed. The scenario I created is supposed to be played by the Red side. When I open the GE and load the user scenario playing the Red side the Background and Red orders are not supplied. I have tried with the HC Launcher and without using the HC launcher. To look at the orders for this scenario you will need to import HCEEFDB-151115, which is included in the zip files. There is a word doc included with what the orders should be when the scenario opens in the GE. Has anyone had this issue. I tried another computer with the same results. Spratly Island Ord…

This scenario is designed for play by either the BLUE or RED side. Most folks have probably never heard of the Agalega Islands, which lie about 400 nm northeast of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. Their remote location is key to their importance, especially from the perspective of burgeoning blue water navies like India and China.
