Base Weapons

Featured Replies

Easing back into Harpoon and want to set up some simple scenarios to experiment with the variious weapon systems. I'm using Clancey's RSR as a template for setting up Iceland as a Soviet base against which to conduce air attacks, which leads to a couple of questions:

1) As I see it the original four battlesets are the only ones that that include the Soviet Union, right?

2) The only way to adjust the weapon systems present at a base are via the Platform Editor, right? For example, as per RSR, I would like to add 4x SAM6 launchers, so I would have to go to the Platform Editor to do this - however, if I remember correctly that would not be possible for the orginal scenarios, right?

3) Or would using the most utd HarpGamer DB make a difference?

Poking around in the dark, so any advice would be great.

Using the latest HCDBxxxxxx database and any of the EC2003 or recent 'named' battlesets (eg WestPac) will give you maximum flexibility.

Using the Scenario Editor, your best bet is to add SAM and/or AAA batteries, and pick from other options, like additional radars, and then add them to the installation formation in the configuration of your choice.

And welcome back! B)

Thanks for the advice. I just realized that the additional units like SAMs are located under Ships.

However, I seem to be missing radar units that could be edited into a Base. Where are they located in the DB?

They are also treated as ships, with INTL nationality flag and MISC cathegory.

Mobile radar long range: TPS-77

Mobile radar medium range: Spoon Rest D/P-18

Mobile radar short range: Giraffe 75.

Thanks, it is getting late and I must be missing things. They are just a little down from the Alien Mother Ship, about which I shall not comment - very X-Files. :)

Esp appreciate the translation into specific designations.
