During the summer of 1975, on the Mecklenburg's coastline, a sport boat w/ 4 persons aboard managed to make its way free to the high sea, thanks to the cover of dusk, escaping security forces from the GBK in the process. Despite DDR's efforts, the sport boat managed to get to BGS's patrol boat. The East Germans asked to be brought onboard, as they wanted to go to the West. One hour later, 2 GBK rushed after the Duderstadt and tried to stop her. However, the BGS patrol boat managed to escape, aided by already being in international waters near west Germany. http://www.strategyzoneonline.com/forums/d...do=file&id=1091 Regards René

I am trying to build a user scenario using divefreak's Middle East Battleset. Unfortunately some of the bases are far from where they should be. Dubai is in the middle of the Gulf of Oman, for example, serveral hundred kilometres east of where it should be. Similarly, Abu Dhabi is not on the coast of the Persian Gulf, but in the middle of the peninsula. Is there some other data base that should be used with this Battleset ? Or is it possible to manually relocate a base ? Thank you.

In a scenario exist the blue airbase Aa (human player) and the red airbase Za (AI). From the red airbase Za shall takeoff air groups to attack the blue airbase Aa from south, east, west and north and this automatic repeatable every four hours. Now the simple question: How is this scenario to generate with the scenario editor? It seems in the scenario editor are only direct bearing attacks possible.

Saw this request on the AGSI website: " ... can we get a basic scenario that has all the bases with the peacetime deployments? It would be really awesome to have the abilty to create scenarios based on making forward deployments as part of the vitory conditions. IE CVBG on east coast, with components having to form up and deploy whie engaging individual sub units. Or a Air wing being moved forward to a base being challenged, or a convoy being formed up. Its just so tough sometimes to know the natural progressions of a unit forming up, that if we had a base scenario with all units in place, we could just then remove those bases, ships, subs and planes not considered es…

Scenario: Iron Wolf Author: Brad Leyte (CV32) Battleset: EC2003 GIUK Database: HCDB Skill level: Intermediate Involved units: Full (Land\Sea\Air operations) Where can I get it? Here (Harpgamer) Review: First impressions: As I have come to expect from a Brad Leyte scenario, this one requires some good interpretation of the orders by the player and the ability of the player to devise their own plan, rather than working to already outlined goals. This I find to be quite enjoyable and most certainley a method of scenario creation which is very much like Brad's signature on the scenarios he writes. When I first opened the scenario I was presented with con…

Scenario: Lets go to war Author: Brad Leyte (CV32) Battleset: Westpac Database: HCDB Skill level: Advanced\Expert Involved units: Full (Land\Sea\Air operations) Where can I get it? Here (Harpgamer) Review: First impressions: On first opening the scenario I am greeted with an enormous order of battle and a very wide area of operations. Before engaging the clock it was of the utmost importance that I got dug in to the OOB and the scenario orders. Processing that and setting up my combat units and orders took me in the region of 1 and half to 2 hours. I had never opened a monster scenario, so this was my first taste of such a beast, I was determined to b…

I'm posting a scenario I've been working on called "Rorke's Drift". It was an originally an EC2000 scenario I had downloaded from the defunct Harpoon Scenario Warehouse and I though I could do a quick-and-dirty conversion to the EC2003 battleset by just changing the suffix. Wrong! I went and recreated the whole thing from scratch, but I need help. 1) Play it and see if it works. 2) Suggestions to make it better. 3) Someone who knows the inner workings of the Scenario really well to fill me in on how the AI controls attacks. Thanks, Larry Gertner wombat1417@att.net

I wonder if someone might do me a favour and set up a test scenario that pits S-300V (SA-12) against the Kh-22 (AS-4). Run it a few times and let me know how often the S-300V is successful in shooting down the Kh-22.

Friends, In the past, I've focused on convoys and CVBGs in my scenarios, but I'm trying to figure out how to create more varied scenarios that are also realistic. At this point, I've reached the limits of my knowledge and I need your help! I apologize for any ignorance on my part, but I simply don't know the answers to these questions, and that's why I'm asking. I imagine in some cases it's simply "these were the ships in the area at the time," and this is what I've been doing for a lot of scenarios, but assuming there was time to put the ideal (or at least preferred) SAG or Phibron/amphibious group together, what's it going to look like? For exampl…

I know that some, perhaps many, of you HCE players out there must have played with the Scenario Editor and perhaps built scenarios of your own. I'll get to the point: why aren't you sharing them? Scenarios are the lifeblood of this game, folks. Without scenarios to play, enjoy and share, we're toiling away at improving this game for what? If you're worried about 'quality', please don't be. There's no one around here that is going to wag their finger and say your scenario doesn't meet their own self-conceived standards. And, if your scenario could use improvement, or you'd like help to make it better in some way, there are plenty of folks who would be glad to…

Heads' up to scenario authors, the scenario file format changes again in 2017.008 (not released yet) which means scenarios made with the 2017.008 or newer SE will not work in builds of the GE older than 2017.008 and won't be editable in SE builds older than 2017.008. The changes so far are internal and invisible to the scenario author and player. In other words there is no compelling reason for you to move to the new SE right out of the gate. Eventually there will be but by that time I'll probably have changed the scenario format again. To quickly summarize what does change is that each unit, group, scenario, saved game, and plane record (aircraft on the ground)…

Hello, I have created a scenario that I was hoping to test. Unfortunately the game stopped working. I have noticed that if the scenario is >= 700kb the game doesn't work. Is there a memory limit on created scenarios? Regards, Dave

Would any of you more-prolific HC scenario designers care to share some of your tricks of the trade in creating your scenarios? Not so much story line, but actually sitting down and using the editor to tie everything together. Thanks

I fear the current scenario editor is not working after Microsoft don't support now Windows 10 (But I use Windows 11!), I get an error message apparently related with that, are you getting some similar issues?

A few historical events that might pique your interest in writing a scenario using the HCE Cold War Database (HCCW). I will get things started with the year 1974. Feel free to add to the list. 1974: Paracel Islands, China vs South Vietnam, January 1974 Carnation Revolution in Portugal, April 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus, Summer 1974 Rhodesian Bush War, continuing (1964-79)

Hey, Jan, check out the news about Israel's planned development of a new radar satellite in the Current Events section. I think this could be tied in to your scenario idea about a potential conflict between Iran and France after an Israeli strike against an Iranian nuclear powerplant (shades of Osirak). You could suppose some French technical assistance in the design and development of the Israeli TecSAR radar satellite, which is then instrumental in confirming Israeli concerns about Iranian WMD intentions. Then, after the Israeli pre-emptive strike, Iran has some more overt reasons to be angry with France. Just some brainstorming to help (hopefully) you along…

In my naval reading list I have now arrived at the fiction section with Michael DiMercurios books. I've just started Voyage of the Devilfish where a rogue admiral sends 120 SSNs to a position they can attack with cruise missiles. (I have not finished the book, so the idea is just based on the start). This inspired me to try to recreate this scenario with EC2003 Battle for the Atlantic Ocean. The idea was to start out a big blob of SSNs from the Norwegian Sea (Barents seems to be off the map) Have them all transit trough the GIUK gap, north and south of Iceland at high speed to several attack positions off the US east coast and then order them to attack vital targets…

From a recent post in HG Current Events: North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) conducted a series of intercepts involving Russian and Chinese military aircraft operating within the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on July 24. Two Russian Tu-95MS and two Chinese H-6K aircraft were detected, tracked, and intercepted by NORAD fighter jets from the United States and Canada. While operating in international airspace, their presence within the ADIZ necessitated a response from NORAD which dispatched F-16, F-35 and CF-18 fighter aircraft. An idea for a small scale (not to daunting) scenario for anyone wanting to start writing and sharing HC scen…
