November 30, 200817 yr When I renamed the scenario I got some Tu-95 Bear taking off from Kiev carriers. So you have to edit the individual units again. Those are just some of the problems you can see. There are probably other problems you will not even notice. For example, your ViConds could be all messed up. This process does not work. If you want to switch battlesets, the only way to do it properly is to start from a blank scenario. You have to re-do everything. Insert all the bases, ships, subs, planes, order,.... If you insist on doing it the way you have already done, you better be prepared for odd things happening. You are just asking for trouble.
December 1, 200817 yr There are probably other problems you will not even notice. For example, your ViConds could be all messed up. Well, I have edit almost everything again: ViConds, orders, alternative paths, bases, individual units... The only thing I have kept are groups and positions from the original scenario. I have been playing GIUKBSG2.scm for two hours of game-time and there is no problem yet.
December 1, 200817 yr Well, I have edit almost everything again: ViConds, orders, alternative paths, bases, individual units... The only thing I have kept are groups and positions from the original scenario. I think you mis-understand. You cannot edit your way out of your current predicament. There is no amount of editing you can do on your Bear Goes South 2 scenario that will get rid of all the potential incompatibility problems. The fact that you started with *.SC1 and changed it to *.SCm is the entire problem. If you want to write the *.SCm scenario, everyone is telling you to re-start from nothing. If you want to avoid the problems, you need to re-start the entire process from the beginning. It's your scenario. If you want to accept the potential problems, that is no one's business but your own. However, we (the game's programmer, other scenario designers, and fellow players, alike) are all telling you that the process you used is flawed and likely to create problematic behaviours that cannot be explained. Not every problem will be visible. If you are satisfied with it and do not want to re-start, no one is going to force you to do anything.
December 1, 200817 yr Author The fact that you started with *.SC1 and changed it to *.SCm is the entire problem ... If you want to avoid the problems, you need to re-start the entire process from the beginning. Doesn't get much clearer than that, unfortunately. Changing the file suffix won't work, jugasa77. Sorry.
December 1, 200817 yr you better be prepared for odd things happening. You are just asking for trouble. I will be able to restart building the scenario from the beginning and updating it in two weeks. If anybody finds any odd problem at GIUKBSG2.scm, let me know, please.

December 1, 200817 yr This whole situation proves something I've always thought. If you find an incredibly easier way to do something, there just has to be something that will go haywire eventually. Not that that's ever dissuaded me from trying the asy way anyway. Buddha
December 2, 200817 yr No problem, jugasa. If you need help along the way, just holler and someone will give you a hand. I have edit CV Kuznetsov with 60 aircraft instead of original 36. If I include it in the scenario, will be there any problem for a player who is using the original database, which has a CV Kuznetsov only with a maximun of 36 aircraft?

If you're making your own custom DB and a series of scenarios built with it, you should look at building Battlesets and embedding your DB in it, then your scenarios will be tied to your DB and thus promote the gameplay and events you had in mind when designing it. The Battleset builder is included in your HCE install Edit : typos and spelling
December 2, 200817 yr Author Editing the database will inevitably lead to incompatibility problems if you want players to be able to play your scenarios using the supplied database (the HCDB). A very good alternative, as noxious suggests, is to create your own custom DB and embed it into a battleset.
January 20, 200917 yr Well I read this and figured I should have a go. I'm not sure how to upload the files so I'll try and attach my ZIP to this reply, otherwise if some one can direct me to the proper procedure I'll do my best to follow. Don Thomas Aus_don.zip
January 20, 200917 yr Congratulations on your first scenarios. I tried out "Intruders from the North" and managed to get victory after a few days. Oz is a pretty darned big country to defend. Thanks for putting them together and sharing.

Don Thomas Don, a new user scenario is always welcome. However, you need to upload your scenario through the Downloads section of this website here. Once you've done that, we'll approve your upload and delete the attachment here.

As a bigger man than me once said (in a movie, gee what a woos) 'I'll be back'. Don.

On the screenshot topic, you don't have to include one, they just make your entry look more attractive.
