It seems that at least one type of submarines stopping when they shouldn't is involved with how the scenario is started (i.e. if you use File\Load User Scenario the subs don't stop but if you do File\New... they do). Loading scenarios and saved games (not to mention saving them) is almost unbelievably convoluted. I just purchased HUCE and installed it, with the intention of designing some realistic scenarios based on the current naval market (I work as a naval analyst, for a provate company). I installed HUCE, using the download. Low and behold, when I installed it, there was no Scenario Editor. I clicked that option, but it doesn't open. Has anyone else ran into this issue? Hello HarpGamers, Had to join and say thank you to all that play our game. Started on a Mac back in '95. Evolved to Windows' Classic '97. Forced to Windows XP and thought the game gone forever. Tried Harpoon Classic, and III, and AE: crashed every time. Figured she was gone. Thank the internet Gods for the Google Machine. Who knew? Found y'all... I received a copy of Commander's Edition a while ago after having waxed lyrical to the other half about how much I used to love Harpoon. It languished on a shelf for a while as I'm now entirely Linux based and haven't had a great deal of success in the past with games under WINE. However, after giving it a rattle it's surprisingly playable, there are a few little graphic niggles most of which are only a vague annoyance. There's one though that makes some (larger) scenarios a tad difficult. no matter what i have tried i can't get scenario editor to work with my 64 bit system, i have tried compatiblility modes of all sorts with vista and still no effect, i miss this editor, any great minds have a simple solution?

I just bought a new computer (AMD Phenom II X6 1100T 3.30 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 64-bit Win 7 Pro SP1). When I re-installed HUCE, it seemed to install cleanly. However, when I go to play the game, I run into a problem. I can double click the desktop icon, and that gives me the User Account Control warning screen asking if I want to allow the program to make changes to my system. I tell it yes, and get the Play HUCE box. I select '20 Years of Commanders Edition', and that gets me 'choose version' box. At this point, clicking on any of the versions except 'Harpoon CE' brings up that version of the game, no problem. Unfortunately, clicking on 'Harpoon CE' does absolutely nothing. If…

I am currently in the middle of playtesting a rather large and intense scenario in the Med, and the Staff Assistant is making me Very Grumpy. About every ten seconds real time he pops up to tell me that there are enemy aircraft in SAM range, and I really should light up my radars. This can go on for half an hour at a time, and makes playing the game somewhat ... painful ... Even worse, on the rare occasions when I do light up, he doesn't seem to realize it, and keeps popping up to tell me to light up radars that are ALREADY ON! This, I can really live without, because it happens while I am trying to deal with inbound SSMs. Is there any way to make him just STFU, o…

I will admit to having been able to play through this scenario once and still come away unscathed during Red's first vicious antiship missile attack. Otherwise I can usually save the carriers, albeit rarely without sustaining some damage and never without losing an escort. How have others fared? Man up!

I just got a new computer and I need some help getting Harpoon up and running again. I installed it from the harpoon commanders edition disc, and I'm going to apply the update below. HCE-UpdateComprehensiveInstaller-2009.050 so my question is this, is this the latest version of harpoon commanders edition? If not, please paste the link to the latest edition. I don't think it's mentioned often enough just what a great bunch of members we have in this group. A week or so ago, I upgraded to the Ultimate Edition, and completely lost the SE. Within a day, Tony had me back up and running again. This morning, I was attempting to do DB update in ANW, and bolluxed things up to the point I couldn't load a scenario. This time it Was Ralf who saved me from what I thought would be a complete reinstall. I heard back from him with a solution in less than 2 hours. Hello, Hmm. I'm rapidly becoming the newbie who fills up the board with questions. So I'm playing retreat in the GIUK set. Managed to whip the Soviet north cape air assets, with only a handful of fighters lost. Now I'm getting ready to run the GIUK gauntlet of subs. I've attached all my land based ASW air assets to the air base at Vagar in the Faroes. Since it won't let me set the range rings to larger than 255 miles, this is the only base with which I can get really good coverage of the GUIK gap. So my P3s and Nimrods are flying out of other bases, because they can't land at the short runway at Vagar. I put them in Vagars formation so they actually auto conduc…

Hello, Another question. I've noticed that some planes crash rather consistently and quickly when flying at very low level. I've also found that it seems like I've been able fly F-16s at very low level quite a lot without losing any of them. Is there a rule of some kind, modern planes can do it, older planes can't? Some planes can, some planes can't? Am I imagining this? Does speed matter? If this is indeed the case, does anyone know which planes you can fly at vlow and which you can't? thanks, Czo
