Hi guys, I have just purchased Harpoon from Matrix Games and have tried to download it. The download speed is averaging around 20-30kB/s which is extremely slow as I am using a DSL connection. Do you know if this is normal? I can normally download at around 700kB/s.

It may simply be high traffic volume on Matrix from Boxing Day sales, etc. If it persists, I'd suggest posting on the Matrix forums.

I ended up doing exactly the same. The help desk were helpful and reset the download but I don’t think I got beyond 2/3's. It would start off good then drop off with remaining times measured in days and then just stop altogether.

I’m waiting now for the refund on the download.

Sorry to hear about the painfully slow download speeds. Though the boxed version is much nicer, in any event.

When I had a problem with very slow downloads, I eventually found out that I was accidentally running competing firewalls from McAfee AND Windows Defender AND yet a free recommended third party. Once I reduced it to McAfee only, no more problems.

I prefer the boxed game too. I like having a printed manual I can add to the others in the collection.

Just to clarify, we don't have anything at all to do with Matrix download speeds. The only downloads can have any effect on are ones from harpgamer.com. I've had my own run-ins with downloads from Matrix but one way or another always eventually got through.
