August 4, 201114 yr - The Spanish FF Descubierta class converted in OPV (Without ASW systems and without Sea Sparrow/Aspide) from 2004. More details later or at request. And without Harpoon, they also lost the Signaal radar and the air search radar IIRC. Thanks for the Descubierta, Brad, but I see they are not her almost sisters OPV-converted Infanta Elena, Infanta Cristina, Cazadora and Vencedora, apparently keeping her radars and ECM. http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clase_Descubierta_(1978) http://www.armada.mde.es/ArmadaPortal/page..._Descubierta_es Another "missing link" and of easy modelling, the Barbel class SS (1959-1990) (I don't know as we can forget she, the last class of American SS ) (Manytimes I forget what relevant unit is or not present on what DB !!!) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbel_class_submarine (For Norman Polmar in Cold War Submarines and for Norman Friedman in US Submarines from 1945: submerged/surfaced speed=18,5/14, Intermediate deep, torpedo capacity=22 long, sensors BPS-12, BQS-4, BQR-2B).
August 5, 201114 yr Thanks for the Descubierta, Brad, but I see they are not her almost sisters OPV-converted Infanta Elena, Infanta Cristina, Cazadora and Vencedora, apparently keeping her radars and ECM. Sorry, Enrique, can you rephrase? I don't quite understand what you're saying here.
Ooohh, yes, when I wrote that it was very late in the night for me - Descubierta was converted in OPV and is correctly represented in the DB. - Diana was converted in MCM support ship and is correctly represented in the DB. - Infanta Elena, Infanta Cristina, Cazadora and Vencedora were converted also in OPV but they are not represented in the DB, and those late four ships keep more electronic systems, radar and weapons than Descubierta (Descubierta was deleted in 2009). All four ships to be replaced by the OPV BAM Meteoro class (class also represented in the DB). The differences in equipment are well explained in the Spanish version of the Wikipedia, and reflected in photos: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clase_Descubierta_(1978) and in the official site of the Spanish Navy: http://www.armada.mde.es/ArmadaPortal/page..._Descubierta_es The main differences is Infanta Elena, Infanta Cristina, Cazadora and Vencedora are keeping her WM-25, DA05 and ZW06 radars (we can see it on the photos after the conversion), 4xdecoy launchers, ESM, and 4xHarpoon, all those elements deleted in the Descubierta conversion. Apparently all the converted ships have the same basic armament of 1x76mm, 1x20mm (sometimes 2x20mm, replacing the forward 305mm mortar mount and one of the aft 40mm mount, at least in Diana, the configurations vary on time in the photos), 2x12,7mm, and 3xRHIB. Apparently none of the six conversions keeps sonar neither ASW weapons. I propose simply a new Infanta Elena entry with the four last ships converted in OPV but better armed and with better electronics than Descubierta
August 6, 201114 yr Another idea: I see Brad has added SPS-51 but he has not attached it to none platform. I'm not sure what radar is it, or if is a variant of the SPG-51 FCS? I note they are included other Search/FCS in the DB, as EL/M-2228, but that has recalled me the inclusion in the DB of the WM.2X/Mk92 series of Search and Fire Control System radar, widely employed in small and medium ships, from Combattante and Lurseen PTMs to Descubierta, Kortenaer, various MEKO and O.H. Perry classes, to mention a small number of classes (In my personal DB I use Snow Drift as representation of WM.2X/Mk92, the most similar radar !!!). I think it can be modelled with a 45 nm range 3D/SS radar, PH=50. Don't mind on it, now I see the elusive SPS-51 is clearly a SS radar for the Coast Guard: http://www.uscg.mil/history/webcutters/CastleRock1948.pdf http://wiki.computerharpoon.com/index.php?title=AN/SPS-51 http://www.alternatewars.com/BBOW/Radar/SPS_Series.htm
August 8, 201114 yr Another idea: I see Brad has added SPS-51 but he has not attached it to none platform. Don't mind on it, now I see the elusive SPS-51 is clearly a SS radar for the Coast Guard Yes, I added it for the Hamilton class cutters, but then noted the SPS-51 sets were replaced in the time period I was aiming to represent, apparently by the SPS-64.
August 14, 201114 yr I was for some time thinking in platforms for best modelling of the closing stages of the Cold War, partly because they are plenty of slots for ships and submarines (and a shortage of loadouts slots ), them are platforms of easy introduction in the Standard DB (1980-2015), it sembles a long list, but most of them are minor variants of pre-existent entries, or widely knowded platforms : Aircrafts: SP-2H Neptune: used by USA 1956-1978, but in French service 1958-1984. P-2J Neptune: Japan 1969-1984. APS-80 radar. SH-2F Seasprite (1987-1993): Adds RWR and FLIR. 15xSSQ-53. LN-66 radar. We can use the same 55794 and 55795 loadouts than in SH-2G. SH-2F Seasprite (1973-1987): 12xSSQ-41 and Mk 46 mod 2 torpedoes. LN-66 radar. Blip enhancer, SB, MAD, carrier capable, all-weather capable. Ships, some new and some variants of previous classes in the DB: DD Kotlin mod. (56PLO)(1960-1992)(not SAM Kotlin): Easy reference: http://russian-ships.info/eng/warships/project_56.htm DD-963 Spruance class (1977-1984), now the oldest version in the DB is the entry 2398, near 1981-1998: With: RIM-7F Sea Sparrow, Mk 46 mod 2, Harpoon, ASROC with Mk 46 mod 2 and nuclear ASROC. Without: armour, RIM-7M Sea Sparrow, Mk 46 mod 5 NEARTIP, Tomahawk cannisters, Phalanx, TAS Mk23 neither SQR-19. FF-1037 Bronstein class (1963-1990). FF-1040 Garcia class (1964-1990). Now in the DB is present only the Pakistani variant. FFG-1 Brooke class (1966-1989). FF-1052 Knox class (1976-1982), now only present a newer version in the entry 2415, near 1979-1994: With: RIM-7F Sea Sparrow mount aft, Mk 46 mod 2, Harpoon, ASROC with Mk 46 mod 2 and nuclear ASROC, and SQS-35. Without: Mk 46 mod 5 NEARTIP, Phalanx neither SQR-18/18A. AVT-16 Lexington (1969-1991), a trainer carrier with downgraded electronics and sensors, perhaps of some use in a emergency crisis, clearly not a priority ... A lot of submarine variants, but basically small modifications of pre-existent entries (I think we need mostly American SSN types pre-1986, without sub-launched Tomahawks), some ideas derived from my previous researchs on HC Gold Edition some years ago, possibly today we can count with more accurate historical data: 2xSS Oberon variants: Oberon class (UK 1986-1993)(the present 6192 updated entry for more modern scenarios): Sensors: Type 1006, Sonar 186, Sonar 2007, Sonar 2024, Sonar 2051 Triton. Weapons: 20xTigerfish mod 2 (fwd). Oberon class (UK 1979-1986): Sensors: Type 1002, Sonar 186, Sonar 187, Sonar 2007. August 14, 201114 yr That's quite a list of requests! Just back from a short vacation, but I will take some time to look these over in the coming days.

August 23, 201114 yr Thanks! Meanwhile I'm thinking in some scenarios ... I've been able to accommodate most all of these requests, and they will appear in the next release. Thanks ! I'm working about the Pacific Ocean OOB in 1982 About the old question of the carrier escorts in Vietnam, I don't find nothing, but perhaps we can obtain some data of the very painstaking labour of reading one-by-one the individual history (and most of the times incomplete history) of each CG, CGN, DDG, DD, FFG and FF in sites as http://navysite.de/ships.htm
August 24, 201114 yr Some other easy ideas of the late-time Cold War for the standard 1980-2015 DB, but be easy, I've not more current requests : RF-4B Phantom II (1965-1990): 46 units for the USMC, very similar to RF-4C but carrier capable, we can use the same loadout of the RF-4C. ALQ-99 TF radar, ALQ-102 SLAR, only RWR, not ESM. ECM: ALQ-126 (previously ALQ-100), ALE-29. The last carrier equipped with long range Standard missiles: CV-64 USS Constellation (1969-1982): Weapons: without Sea Sparrow, but with 2xMk10 launchers with 40xStandard SM-1ER RIM-67A Block II/III each one. Sensors: SPS-37A, SPS-39, SPS-30, SPS-10. The confuse variants of the Forrest Sherman class of DD and her sub-classes, some of them, as Turner Joy, Edson or Mullinnix with very appealing stories (If we use Mk46 mod 2 torpedoes the starting date must be 1971, and not the conversion date): DDG-31 Decatur class (1968-1983)(Forrest Sherman class AAW conversion): USS Decatur, John Paul Jones, Parsons and Somers. Weapons: 1x127mm Mk42 gun, 40xStandard SM-1MR RIM-66A Block II/III on Mk13 launcher, 2x3 Mk32 TT with Mk46 mod 2, and 16xASROC with Mk46 mod 2 on Mk16 launcher. Sensors: SPS-29, SPS-48, SPS-10, SQS-23. DD-933 Barry class (1968-1983)(Forrest Sherman class ASW conversion): USS Barry, Davis, Jonas Ingram, Manley, Du Pont, Blandy, Morton and Richard S. Edwards. Weapons: 2x127mm Mk42 gun, 2x3 Mk32 TT with Mk46 mod 2, and 20xASROC on Mk16 launcher. Sensors: SPS-40, SPS-10, SQS-23, SQS-35. DD-931 Forrest Sherman class (1967?-1988)(Forrest Sherman class unmodified, the last US class of all-gun DD): USS Forrest Sherman, Bigelow, Mullinnix, Hull, Edson and Turner Joy. Weapons: 3x127mm Mk42 gun, 2x3 Mk32 TT with Mk46 mod 2. Sensors: SPS-29, SPS-10, SQS-23.
August 24, 201114 yr Another little last-time addition : SH-3G Sea King (1971-2009): 105 units converted from SH-3A/D for the USN. Utility helicopter also of easy modelling, we can use for it only the 55793 loadout. Without radar neither electronics. or USH-3H/UH-3H Sea King (1992-2009): conversion of SH-3H as utility helicopter also of easy execution, we can use for it only the 55793 loadout. Without radar neither electronics.
August 25, 201114 yr DD-963 Spruance class (1977-1984), now the oldest version in the DB is the entry 2398, near 1981-1998: With: RIM-7F Sea Sparrow, Mk 46 mod 2, Harpoon, ASROC with Mk 46 mod 2 and nuclear ASROC. Without: armour, RIM-7M Sea Sparrow, Mk 46 mod 5 NEARTIP, Tomahawk cannisters, Phalanx, TAS Mk23 neither SQR-19. Other than USS Cushing (DD-985), which other three Spruance class destroyers had the SQR-15 towed array?
