April 12, 201115 yr Others late Cold War ideas: The Shackleton AEW.2 in use 1972-1991 (and only replaced by the E-3D in 1991), with ESM and improved APS-20F(I) radar with 200 nm range and LDSD and SS capabilities. Clearly in the pretended scoop of the DB, useful in the North Atlantic scenarios, and without problem about the loadout shortage, we can use one generic Patrol loadout common to other plane, with a range near to 2650 nm (but I've checked Patrol and Ferry Loadouts and don't find none similar, perhaps we can use the loadout entry 56034 of the An-124 Condor (it has two loadouts), with 2790 nm range). Also F-106A Delta Dart (1972-1988) and Lightning F.3A/F.6 (1965-1988), both used to 1988 and the Lightning present in some legacy scenarios. And in both types with only an Intercept loadout is enought.

When I peroused yesterday the loadouts in the DB, I was really afraid about the scarce ferry/patrol/cargo loadouts disponibility, I was thinking previously we can dispose/revamp a lot of them, but I see the answer is clearly "no". But I think we can refund a lot of loadout entries and make it common to some planes, as is reflected in the aforementioned Sea Harrier/AV-8A/C/S/Harrier GR.3 loadout entries, we can use only one of them for the three types. When I find other similar situations, I will prevent you about it. Thanks.
April 13, 201115 yr Question about spanish F/A-18's - in intercept loadout they have only two Amraams. Is it purposeful?
April 13, 201115 yr Question about spanish F/A-18's - in intercept loadout they have only two Amraams. Is it purposeful? Nope, good catch. Should be six. I'll fix that for the next iteration. Thanks!
April 14, 201115 yr IIRC there are no F-104Gs on the DB Its listed under the INTL entries. (Runs off to the damage control shoring locker to stem the flood of aircraft requests. )

More about spanish (well it is all Enrique's fault - I'm playing his Morocco 2012 scenario ;-) ) EF-18A/B+ Hornet - in Precis loadout it has only one Amraam (2xBPG2000, 1XAIM-120A/B AMRAAM, 2xIRIS-T, 1xAAQ-28 Litening II, 3x330 USG drop tank, 6x20mm M61A1 burst). One Amraam traded for the Litening? BTW, does Litening have any real role in the game? Or is it being shown only for purpose of sticking to real data?

Yeah, the AMRAAMs in this case sit on fuselage hardpoints, so exchange one AMRAAM for the Litening pod. The latter serves no purpose GE wise, but does impact the loadout as you can see.
April 15, 201115 yr Can I help by finding public domain pictures for you? I don't have the necessary programs on this computer to convert them to bmp though.
April 15, 201115 yr Can I help by finding public domain pictures for you? I don't have the necessary programs on this computer to convert them to bmp though. Absolutely. The images haven't been a priority for me because the DB is already a lot of work, but feel free to PM me.

April 26, 201115 yr I will be adding NOE (nap of the earth, i.e. capable of Vlow flight) and IFR (in flight refueling capable) notations to the aircraft descriptions. Don also brought my attention to an error in the Il-38 May loiter speed. Thanks Don. A revamped entry for the Chinese carrier Shi Lang will also appear, and if folks feel up to offering help, I'm game for modeling the J-15 Flying Shark. If anyone has other requests, please let me know here.

Am I alone in actually preferring the line drawings from the older versions of HCE?
April 26, 201115 yr Am I alone in actually preferring the line drawings from the older versions of HCE? I think they are awesome and I love the animations! But as nasty as copyright law may be, I'm not seeing help lining up to make new line drawings (not to mention I'd have to make a line drawing tool). Or you can use Rene's shipbucket line drawings.
