Requests for the HCDB (Official DB of HCE) and HCDB2

An element I see missing longtime but I only remember now: shore anti-ship mobile batteries of the most common types, as Harpoon, Exocet and Penguin.

And perhaps some generic coastal gun batteries, probably protected in bunkers or casemates, basically for WWIII scenarios, some of them in Norway or Spain

  • Enrique, if you would be so kind, can you post a list of the carriers where you think capacity needs to be adjusted, and some authority for the requested change. (And, as you know, HCCW has its own th

I know that we've already ventured to some degree into this scale of warfare, what with the individually modeled armored vehicles and UAVs and such, but do we need to model 'individuals'?

...

It really depends on how popular Harpoon for commando style raids is as a platform. I personally think the game fits better to the grand-tactical / operational scope, than the hunt for individual terrorists. E.g. using a base named 'Terror Camp 1' is for me as good as a new unit called 'Bin Laden's successor'.

Just my 2 euro-cent.

Roger, wilco.

Got a specific suggestion for a generic coastal gun battery? I am thinking it would have to be something on the larger caliber side to have the range to be operationally useful in HCE.

Ok, I will do some research about coastal guns the next week, when I will return at home.

Any idea what surface search surveillance radar is associated with the MM.40 Exocet Block 2 coastal defense system?

Edit: Using the SCORE coastal surveillance set. Thanks, Enrique.

How about the radar associated with the Penguin coastal defense system?

I've recuperated the Hargamer connection.

I will post here some links about coastal defence, guns, missiles and radars, for amusement and for not lose it.

Norwegian defences (look for "the present coastal artillery"), incluiding coastal batteries (I remember some years ago more heavy artillery, and now only with RBS17/Hellfire, not Penguins)(also an interesting map about the Norwegian zones of economical interest):

More the next time ...

I have been thinking of adding a class of "alien invader" type platforms to the database.

Intended for some outlandish alien invasion type scenarios where the world's militaries might have to band together to defeat the common threat. :D

Thinking mainly of a "mothership" type platform (probably a mobile land unit) that would simulate a 'hover' at low altitudes, cross both sea and land, and carry a large number of drone type attackers.

Thoughts for platform specs for the mothership and the drone?

Well, anything 'reasonable' is gonna involve a lot of infinity symbols ... <_<:P

Specifications of the H.G. Wells littoral sea-walking capables martian tripods here (but not flying units), but perhaps only for the 1860-1905 DB (slow tripod, short range weapons, not radar or provision for other sensors, perhaps IR?):

And in a old Sitrep they are specifications about the Godzilla monster (fighting in the Tokio Bay against the JSDF with some American aid) ;)

More specifications: I remember long time ago, in many UFO books, the maximum speed habitually quoted for UFOs is 27000 Km/h. The reason is only because that is the escape speed from the Earth, and logically an alien space ship must be capable of at least reach that speed (supposing it don't come from other dimension or the Hollow Earth) ... But I think the maximum factible speed in HCE is 9999 :P

Yeah, I am not going to worry too much about that. I'm only concerned with the alien ships' movement inside Earth's atmosphere, so I'm figuring about 1,500 knots for the drone (in pure ion fusion afterburner, heh) and a crawl for the 'hovering' mothership.

Great idea about the 'walker' too. Classic. I've added that. :)

These entries' specs will probably be provisional as we figure out what works best.

How about some pulsed lasers, ion cannon,... (otherwise known as long range guns with small ready ammo and large magazines?)? Instant punch that requires swarms of human-tech to defeat.

Yep, this is essentially the approach I am taking with the 'alien heat ray' common to all three alien platforms. Essentially a long range, high accuracy, destructive gun with a large magazine.

And don't forget the UFOs are habitually very stealthy (I don't known how their designer can design UFOs at same time stealthy and with one or many very powerful sources of light in very bright colours, perhaps the aliens are blinds in the visual spectrum, or they have only black and white vision?)
