Please let us know what Battle Set you are using, and which scenario you are playing. If you created a custom scenario please include that to. There is an Launching program that you can use to launch HC on the forum that TonyE created . This has some limited things you can do with it that might improve your game speed. You can select the Processor Priority and set it to high. This may help a little. What version of HC are you using? I tend to create monster scenarios for HC and my game moves very slow. I started one of my monster scenarios back in January. I'm finally about 2/3 of the way through. I don't play everyday. I do try and get a couple hours in every week.
  3. Are you getting any messages after you install HC2002 and try to play it? You may have to run HC2002 Gold as an administrator. Please let us know if are still having the problem.
  4. Glad to hear you are getting to plat the scenario. Happy Harpooning, Eric
  5. Regarding the writing over the database. You can go to the link below and download the official Harpoon HCCW-140314 (1950-1975 era) and reinstall it the same way you did the HCDB2-170909 (1980-2025) database. TonyE hasn't found a way to have 2 different databases in the HC directory at the same time. This will allow you to play all the original HC scenario's https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/files/file/576-hccw-140314-1950-75-era/ In regards to the missing winharp.32.exe file. Did the winharp32.exe file disappear from the Start menu of the Harpoon directory on your computer. I have never had that kind of issue when I updated HC. That's kind of puzzling. When you unzipped the HC update file (HC2019.002GESE.zip file) did you unzip in the HC directory? HC2019.002GESE is the latest update to HC. Did you run the HC2019.002GESE file in your HC directory? On my computer I created a HC Downloads directory and added sub directories. Below is a sample of the directories I added: Databases Scenario's Version Updates HC Utilities It made it easier for me to keep track of what I have already downloaded. If you have any questions please let us know. Eric
  6. agathosdaimon, Please go to https://harpgamer.com/harpforum/topic/17623-hc-versionsupdates/ to get the latest beta release and follow the instructions to update HUC. If you installed all of the games from the Matrix download it is already on your PC. Find the Harpoon Ultimate Commanders Edition in the Start Menu. There should be a link in that menu for HUC. If you can't find it there go to the Matrix Games directory on your computer and open the HUC directory and click on WinHarp32 file. I hope this helps. Happy Harpooning
  7. I have a a re occurring crash with GE20019.001. I have narrowed it down to the second. Saved game GE 2019.001 SVG 115 crashes when opened. Saved game GE 2019.001 SVG 113 and 114 open correctly. They are 1 second apart. As long as I keep playing the scenario it keeps running. If you need me to go back several more game seconds please let me know. I have included a copy of my fictional db and saved games files 113,114, and 115 in the zip file. If you need any additional info pleas let me know. Have a great day, Eric GE20019.001 GE Crash.zip
  8. I was wondering if there was a way to find out how many weapons were left in each individual magazine. Just have a total # of each weapons left would be good too. I have included an excel spreadsheet with an idea of what I would like to see, If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks, Eric Weapons Remaining.xlsx

While drifting it may be a good idea to make a slow 90 degree turn every now and then. The towed array is unable to see contacts in front of your ship. Once you find the contact try to estimate it's course and not heading directly towards at high speed giving your self away. Try and not use your active sonar. Active sonar gives your position away. A sub can hear your sonar pining a long way before you will be able to detect it. If your ship is part of a task group you want to stay 50 to 75 miles in front of the group to reduce the noise that comes from all the ships in the task force. I hope this helps!

Yes it will. The game will work on either Windows 10 32bit or 64 bit. The Scenario editor has been up dated to run with both versions of Windows 10. Happy Harpooning! Eric
  11. I would like to be able to choose which sonar buoy I drop. In some cases an active buoy would be nice. When I'm dropping a line of buoy's in a search pattern or as a defensive line I would only want to drop only passive buoy's so I don't give the position away where my defensive line is.
  12. When I set up a new air group from a base I also add the tankers first and then the planes. Last night I looked at an air group that merger with tankers and I saw some negative numbers when I looked in the toolbox. I was wondering if maybe I merged the tankers and air group in the wrong order. I did not use the tool box Aerial Refuel module in the tool box to set up the refuel. I just launched tankers and flew them to the group I wanted to refuel and then merged the 2 groups My planes had a 0% bingo fuel just after I started refueling and stayed like that all the way back to base. I wanted to ask before I start my little tanker scenario.
  13. When merging a Tanker with an air group to refuel do you: 1. Merge group to be refueled with tankers 2. Merge tankers to the group that needs to be refueled When adding tankers to an air group do you: 1. Place tankers in group first and then add aircraft 2. Place aircraft in to group and then add tankers I’m kind of fishing around for some info. Thanks, Eric
  14. Gentlemen , I am no longer interested in joining your game or any future games of Harpoon 4. Thanks for the opportunity for to play a new version of Harpoon 4. Respectfully, Eric
  15. That sounds good to me. You guys take what you want and I will take what's left.
  16. Sorry guys I didn't get any more emails and didn't realize the scenario had started. What's left and what do you need me to do?
  17. I will give it another go.

  19. When ever there is room I would like to have another go at a scenario
  20. Having never played Harpoon this way before I don't have anything to compare it to so I can't really give you a whole lot of information about the Simplot Viewer. Maybe Tony will have a better idea on that one. I need to get used to setting up the beginning of the game with range circles. The Simplot viewer is probably a lot easier to use and set up (first turn) than I made it to be trying to rush at the start of the game. Everything was new to me at once so it was a little confusing to me. Since I have played my first scenario the next time I will have a better understanding of the game and what I can do. I appreciated the help with rules and what it took to turn radars on and what modes to place my radars in. The PC version does that all for you which you take for granted as a HC player. While up Milwaukee I did see a book of Harpoon platforms and would like to find one of them to make it easier for me to play. Tony and I actually looked up the YAK-141 in the book after I mentioned how hard it was to shoot one down in HC. We compared the book version to the one in the HC database and found out why it was hard to shoot down. It had thrust vectoring nozzles making it very maneuverable. Having done a lot of research on weapons systems and platforms for my fictional database I know how much work it takes to learn about the ships, planes and submarines and all their equipment.
  21. Thanks. It was a little hard for me to visualize some of the things especially with out knowing the platforms and rules. I have been playing Harpoon since it came out on 5 1/4 floppy disks. Tony and I played in a game of board version Harpoon when we met in Milwaukee, WI at NAVCON 2014 Playing Harpoon this way makes me appreciate all the work that Tony and all the other developers of HC have put in to make it work the way it does. I have actually created a fictional database based on the HC official database with futuristic weapons, planes and ships. I have read lots of books on WW II naval battles in the Pacific. On top of that I was a sonar tech in the Navy chasing subs around on one of the first 3 surface ships with towed arrays in the late 70's
  22. Hoist up the white flag! All Hands Abandon Ship!
  23. Change course on Kashan to 195 at 17 Kts Looks like I am dying a slow and agonizing death!
  24. Change Kashan course to 180 at 17 Kts. Attempt to close contact for missile shot.
  25. Turn on Surface search Radar and continue Kashan's zigzagging course. Sweep radar until course and range is determined to Iranian ship and then place surface search radar in standby mode. Merchant ship to continue on course 270 at 17kts.
