Turn 1856 Plotting Phase
With loosing visual site of contact place radar in air mode. Change course on Kashan to 290 at 17kts. Maintain a zigzag course between 250 and 290. Will make decision when finding range to Iranian ship is determined.

Turn rates for aircraft ... and beyond
With what I have seen there is something that isn't working like it supposed to. When I play my scenario with the version of HC that has the course and altitude updates causes the Red side not to attack the Blue side, AC take off ant the wrong speeds and patrol altitudes. I tried adding more radar to my bases and AC. Added submarines to try and compensate for the lack of Red side not attacking to no avail. Made HC no fun. I had to abandon those updates to complete my scenario development. At this point I think it's a good idea. I still would like to have those changes incorporated but we need to take some time and figure out what is causing the lack of Red side detection/attacking. When Tony has a little time and can walks though MS Powershell the first time so I can run my scenario using turncoat I will have a better ides of what's going on.

Turn 1852.5 Plotting Phase
Keeping my orders in mind I am going to maintain course change to 270 and maintain speed of merchant at17kts. Change course of Kashan to 270 at 20kts. Have lookout continue look at the bearing of the ESM contact to see if it starts closing on my 2 ships. Since I can't out run the Iranian ship maybe I can trick him into a mistake. I am going to keep the submariners approach. Be quiet try and not give my position away and hopefully I will get lucky

Turn 1851 Plotting Phase
Chang course of Kashan 290 maintain speed. Change course on merchant to 270 max speed Place radars in standby
-
Turn 1848 Plotting Phase
Change cargo ships to course to 090 at flank speed to open range to contact attempt to keep out of missile and gun range. Change Kashan to course to 030 at flank speed to open range to contact
-
Turn 1848 Plotting Phase
Continue course and speed. After closing to 8.5 miles from target open fire with Goa missiles. Does damaged mean reduces capabilities or I can not use them? Some where along the way I will need the HC4 paper rules and the High Tide Chart.

Turn 1845.5 Detection Phase
Change Hard rudder to port course to 165 flank speed. Do I have the ability to shoot down incoming missiles? Employ all ESM countermeasures Fire missiles when in range.
-
Turn 1844.0 Detection Phase
Change directors to air mode. Turn on missile jammers and launch chaff
-
Turn 1844.0 Detection Phase
To make any decision I need to know the range and bearing to contact. Sorry I am a little vague sometimes. I still am trying to figure out what I need to ask.
-
Turn 1843.0 Movement Phase
When guns are in range turn to course 270. Fire all weapons when in range. Turn on Gun director and fire guns at will. Hopefully I will get lucky.

Turn 1836 Detection Phase
Only when I get with-in range of my missiles.

Turn 1836 Detection Phase
Merchant stays on course and speed. Kashan makes a slow turn to port to new course 180 slowly heads towards contact maintains speed slowly closing the contact. Look out confirms contact is a Iranian warship. Kashan goes to full speed to close range to 8 nm and launches 6 Goa SA-N-1 at contact. Kashan maintains max speed and fires 2 more SA-N-1 Goa missiles at Iranian warship. This will present the smallest aspect of the Kashan at the Iranian war ship. At 9 nm from war ship launch a torpedo at him just to put as much confusion as possible at the Iranian warship. If Kashan gets with in gun range open fire with forward 76mm gun change back to course 270 and open up with aft 76mm gun. Launch 4 more Goa SA-N-1 missiles at the Iranian warship Hopefully I will get lucky or I will have to put my head between my legs and kiss my butt good bye! This is a sundial attack. Since I am out gunned it's the best I can hope for!

Turn 1833 Detection Phase
Since my objective is to deliver the merchant to Iraq I have several options: 1. Change course to 290 and try and hide in the land clutter and follow the coast line to Iraq without creating any electronic emissions. 2. Since HC official db says I have 2 Helo's. Launch helo at very low altitude have it fly 5 miles on course 090. Change course to fly directly towards the visual contact and pop up to take a look at the visual contact. If contact is identified as target and Helo has AS missiles fire them at contact. If contact is not Irian surface combatant then return at very low altitude and return to ship. 3. go to full speed.Turn towards the contact verify identify of contact and hopefully get in range of my SA-N-1a missiles (8.5nm range) and fire missiles at contact. Hopefully be able to finish him off with 76mm gun. If there are any other ideas I am open to them.

Beginner Scenario Editor
Andy, Welcome back! When saving a scenario create a directory on your computer for "Edited Scenario's". Save your edited scenario there. This way you will know exactly where to look when loading a scenario. If you are using 2009.050 this is the last version of the original HC version. The Harpoon Ultimate version you referenced is 2009.097. You may have mixed up your Harpoon editions. Below is a link to the latest updates to Harpoon Ultimate Edition: http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?/topic/17623-hc-versionsupdates/ I hope this helps. Please let us know if have any additional questions. Happy Harpooning! Eric

Welcome back. Someone who likes large battles like me! I have created a series of scenarios based on the Spratly Island dispute in the South China Sea. The first 2 scenarios are to be played as the red side as the Chinese, Russians and North Korea attacking Philippines, Japan, Australia, Taiwan, and South Korea. Scenario 3 is the US, and NATO allies Canada, England and Australia build up large fleets pf ships and start attacking the Russians, Chinese and North Koreans Scenario 4 part 1 is named Battle of the South China Sea and it involves the NATO nations as well as some Japanese and South Korean ships. Scenario 4 part 2 (to be releases soon) Battle for Japan. This involves CV task groups in the Sea of Japan, Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Okhotsk. The final scenario of the series will be the last 2 scenarios combined to have a massive battle involving 3 Russian/Chinese CV task groups and 5 NATO/Japanese/South Korean CV task groups. Lots of land bases on both sides. I have created a custom database that needs to be used with the series of scenarios. That database is named HCEEFDB-160710 Fictional Database. There are futuristic weapons systems, planes and ships in the database. These scenarios will require HC2016.003 and later to play. HC 2016.003 is the latest file to play HC with. 2016.010 is a work in progress and has some issues that needs to be worked out. All scenarios have both naval units and submarines. All scenarios and the fictional database can be found in the download area of the forum. There is almost continuous action on multiple fronts at the same time. Battle management will be almost constant. I am a WW II Pacific Battle fan so never overlook the old way of fighting naval battles. Using HC's pause function will help launching your air groups for CAP and attack. Always remember in all my scenarios that putting up a stiff defense is sometimes as good and going on the offensive. Let the enemy wear itself down and then attack with vengeance. These scenarios are very large and push Harpoon to it's limits. The computer side of the scenario creates a lot of single plane air groups which will quickly max out the number of air groups HC is allowed in the software. One of these days we might be able to get TonyE to work on a fix for that. TonyE is the programmer for HC. CV32 is the database creator and I eeustice just keep breaking HC for TonyE to fix. If you have any questions please let us know. Happy Harpooning! Eric

Harpoon Ultimate Commanders Edition 3.0
Steve M, If I understand what your asking. When you open the Platform Editor select the Browse button Look for the pfBuild2005 file. That is where the custom database resides You will have to fine the original location of your pfBuild2005 file. Please let in know if this works. Happy Harpooning! Eric

Patching HCE to use the 32 bit SE
I did find an older Laptop that has HCE on it but didn't have the 2015.027 on it. I downloaded the 2015.027 update and tried to install it. The default install directory was: C:/Matrix/HUCE I changed the default install directory in the update to: C:/Matrix/HCE Where my HCE was originally installed, and was able to install the update. Please let me know if that works. Eric
