  1. Congrats to all the members, perhaps I will join now ....
  2. For me is clearly too little, too late .......
  3. That's a very impressive proclamation
  4. Apparently 4xC-704 anti-ship missiles. http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defe...d-ship-1.349410
  5. I only find this other note about the ALQ-98/102, but not more information on it: http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/vie...20-%203092.html
  6. ALQ-190 has clearly the same anti-missile function (I suspect it's the equivalent of the SH-3's ALE-43 in the newer SH-60): from http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/lib...tsp/EXPCM-d.htm I suspect longtime ALE-43 has the same function (cloud or chaff corridor against incoming missiles, if not is not admissible to use a slow and short ranged helicopter (SH-3) to dispense a ofensive chaff corridor, it can be only a defensive corridor, near a ship, as example), is a bulk chaff-cutter dispenser, but I've not confirmation: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/sys...s/an-ale-43.htm
  7. Other identified, related, intriguing and interesting helicopter ECM systems are in: http://www.designation-systems.net/usmilav...an-alq2aly.html : AN/ALQ-98 Pod-Mounted Anti-Cruise Missile Set; manufactured by General Instrument; used with USN helicopters AN/ALQ-102 Pod-Mounted Anti-Cruise Missile Set (pod-mounted AN/ALQ-98); manufactured by General Instrument; used with USN helicopters AN/ALQ-190 Airborne Chaff ("AIRBOC"); uses LAU-133/A chaff dispenser; used in EA-6B, SH-60, P-3C, S-3B http://www.designation-systems.net/usmilav...an-ala2aln.html : AN/ALE-43 Chaff Cutter & Dispenser Pod; manufactured by Alliant Defense Electronics; used with ERA-3B, EA-6B, EA-7A, B-52, NKC-135, F-4, F-16, F/A-18, SH-3, P-3, CE-144 (Canada)
  8. Probably a blue ASW torpedo with anti-ship capability, sometimes that happens ...
  9. Yes, the situation is nearing my forecast of the past 23 February: I was in Madrid the last friday in an anti-terrorism simposium, http://iugm.es/fileadmin/user_upload/docs/.../diptico_01.pdf and I saw the supposed experts are very disoriented and surprised about what is actually happening in the Arab World. Almost none public comment about the topic by the speechers, perhaps by fear of erroneous perceptions and later academic discredit. For me, as nobody in the simposium apparently was bold to reveal in public what his contacts known about who is staging the revolts (and I think that's because the Western and Israeli contacts known nothing), are clearly the Islamist forces working more or less in the dark ... Only an speecher remembered Libya is from two years ago one of the most islamiced countries in the World (the habitual erroneous perception is the Gadaffi regime is now laicist and socialist, as was previoulsy), after some Gadaffi's recent islamist reforms, trying to keep his Government in charge of Libya, with apparence of righteous islamism.
  10. France has a long tradition of selling advanced weapons to rogue states, as Iraq or Libya. Also in the History Channel episode about future air combat, the opossition forces has Su-37, MiG-29 ... and Rafales ...
  11. I think it is only useful against straight-running torpedoes. I see the game engine guides the guided torpedoes with not-proportionally navigation aiming constantly the torpedo after fired to the variable target position, before the ultimate phase of terminal tracking with the torpedo sensors. i.e. if you zig-zag against a guided torpedo, the game engine automatically ever aim the running torpedo to the variable target position, zig-zag is futile.
  12. I remember in the 1980s reports about US and NATO AWACS and LDSD radars detuned to avoid false contacts in the German autobahns, perhaps when they were running faster than 200 Km/h
  13. Great work ... And thinking on the subjectm Off topic: somebody will be tomorrow in Madrid in the antiterrorism seminar ?
  14. I remember clearly, when I used very long range and slow weapons, as anti-ship Tomahawk, the navigation was not proportional, but it was in Harpoon Gold
  15. I see I'm not the only with a perception of real and unreal news .... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/03/h...-_n_830890.html
  16. More clear things referenced today (Clear for all of us, but not for the UK Government scrapping the carriers): http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/Rapid-...11-03-04-06790/ http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/2011...t-Opportunities Incidentally, some other local politics. Some days ago, another hint about the politics and moral integrity of the Argentine government, the 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature Mario Vargas Llosa, vetoed in a book fair early at the government instance, clearly Vargas Llosa is not pro-Chavez: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Vargas_Llosa http://www.livinginperu.com/news/14310
  17. I think is a good idea, but very small amount of spare time this year for play ... only some bursts of compulsive scenario or DB editing
  18. Talking this afternoon with my academic partner in Berlin, she says me it's a very great sin in Germany, and he's not a very good minister neither a very good person, and she has meet him personally some times (We have talked about him some months ago, as example of decadent nobility).
  19. Perhaps another player in Libya was or is Iran, don't forget to read the comments: http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/breaking-iran...bases-in-libya/
  20. Resolved the unspected issue of both transport task forces running aground in Malaga Bay. Updated 27 February 2011 10:43. In the test all was OK, but when I start a serious game, all the transports mysteriously sailing against the coast. I've deleted the first dot of the path, and problem apparently resolved.
  21. At last some real news, Al Jazeera supporting the possible new Libyan Government: http://english.aljazeera.net/news/africa/2...2915408866.html In relation to the comment: I remember in Spain, a lot of years ago, that was not an realistic answer against Franco rule (Or against the Gadaffi desires, in our case), you as Judge perhaps can don't condemn a person, but you must reseign your official job. I suspect that description of Abdel Jalil as an honest man can be something untrue ...
  22. File Name: Evacuation through the Alboran Sea, 2012 File Submitter: broncepulido File Submitted: 27 Feb 2011 File Category: MEDC Evacuation through the Alboran Sea 2012: This scenario is modified for employ the new planes and ships included now in the Data Base reflecting the composition and modernization of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces. But it's compulsory to do mention of the historical facts: After I wrote this scenario (February 2011) the theorically moderate islamist Justice and Development Party won the November 2011 polls, and his candidate Abdelilah Benkirane was appointed First Minister of Morocco. As consequence, now in Morocco the government is clearly islamist and the facts below narrated as scenario background are only fiction, but not is fiction the current islamist government of Morocco ... I've some good friends in Ceuta and Melilla and also in Morocco. This scenario is inspired from and dedicated to them. I hope it will not scare them too much ... Note: In this scenario, to avoid spoilers, it is better to play the Spanish/Blue side first a few times, and only after play the Moroccan-Islamist/Red side. Spring 2012: As a last backslash to the 2011 turmoils in the North Africa and Middle East Muslim World, in Morocco the moderate laicist Government of National Unity of Abdelhadi Boucetta (With the decisive support of his intellectual and glamorous wife) replacing for less than a year the deposed King Mohammed VI (Exiled to the ONA-Managem luxury mining facilities in Equatorial Guinea), has been overthrowed by the Islamic extremists after a long and painful agony. The new Moroccan islamist Government of the now named Muslim Brotherhood in the Islamic Maghreb, counts with the opposition of a important sector of the Moroccan people, basically the most literate and pro-Western sector. Preventing a possible unrest, remembering the internal public reaction to the ill-fated Moroccan invasion of the Spanish Perejil Island on 2002, the new Islamic government has fixed as national target for amagalmation of the public opinion the seizure of the North-African Spanish Automous cities of Ceuta and Melilla, a long-time Moroccan claim. As both cities are very vulnerable without room for a possible in depth military defence, and the other new strategic targets and ambitions of the Spanish Government are now well known and the last years was retiring troops and police corps from both Ceuta and Melilla, there is a window of vulnerability the Islamic faction has well exploited. With a Moroccan Police and Secret Service organized human waves of thousands of desesperate low-class Moroccan people jumping, breaking through, bending and for last tearing apart the divisory fence between both cities and Morocco, in face of the passivity of the Spanish security forces to avoid the loss of human lives (Action and reaction very similar to the Moroccan Green March occupation of the Spanish Sahara on November 1975, against a confuse Spanish government when Franco layed dying), the Moroccans had de facto occuppied both cities. Facing a not-return case, the Spanish citizens are assembled by the authorities in the cities ports, waiting for maritime evacuation (Only Melilla counts with a very small airport). Remembering the success of the current Somalia pirates, and the success of the traditional historical activity of the Barbary Coast pirates (Only finished with the French conquest in North Africa in the XIX Century, after the previous famous actions of the USN and USMC), and for enforce more the moral of the Moroccan People, the Islamic government has decided to prevent the evacuation and the loss of richess and qualified manpower. In the tradition of their ancestors the Barbary pirates, they want capture them for ransom, or if not destroy and sunk the merchant ships carring them, to shown the weakness of the Spanish government and his incapatility to protect his own nationals. In Spain, after the 2012 polls, the unstable socialist government of Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and his long-time Defence Minister Carmen Chacon, has had to suffer the pressure of the peripherical nationalistic parties of his coalition of government, and to lend to his desires. After the resignation of General Felix Sanz Roldan as head of the Centro Nacional de Inteligencia and his replacement by a puppet civilian, nothing can be opposed to the nationalistic parties desires. As their first demand is the recuperation of the old territories of the Kingdom of Aragon, most of the surface forces of the Spanish Navy and a great number of his air assets are deployed in forward bases in the Balearic Islands and in the Central Mediterranean. As a result of it, facing the worst-case possible scenario, only limited forces are available for escorting the evacuation of Spanish refugees from Ceuta and Melilla.
